For example now, if you go to gulf countries like Qatar, Saudi, Bharian, UAE, etc; majority of specialized jobs in oil and gas sector, medicine, mining, and even finance are done by foreigners who are expatriates...... The expats are mainly Indians, Pakistanis, Africans, few Americans and Europeans who are able to explore such temperate areas.


If tomorrow the Arabs wake and ask those foreigners to leave their countries without any planned replacement with another set of skilled foreigners, tbey will suffer greatly.

I want to believe the south Africans too will have some sectors of their economy that are running smoothly because of the presence of foreigners/expats. In die time they will suffer the consequences of this foolish movement they cunningly disguise as fighting against "illegal foreigners".

i have an SIL who has been working in joburg as an expat for the past two years. she is in nigeria right now, but from what she said, they weren't affected. i would say it is those whose business is within the poorer parts of SA who are exposed

Enugu has money now as the governor has increased the igr very substantially. The water should not cost a lot to fix and it will earn revenue that will pay back the cost. I believe the government is well positioned to fix the problem at a profit

Desalination is so cheap whole countries depend on it including for agriculture. So Enugu can afford to pay for it. However the problem is that the salt is returned to the sea and there are reports that some parts of the seas have become up to twenty five percent more conc overtime as a result and this has its own disadvantages for the ecosystem. That is how some people explained it but access to potable water is gradually becoming a serious problem globally and desalination is probably going to emerge as the cheapest way out since the oceans are there and some of the potable water produced will somehow return to the oceans via rain after evaporation while the rest goes into the earth to add to what is there.

Even if the state government can not raise the money, they can go into partnership since the market is there. We with limitless water from borehole don't appreciate what we have

Minimum desalination plant costs $300m-$1bln. We haven't talked of cost of transporting the water via pipeline

So even if pipeline takes it to 800 naira for 1000 liters, can we say that is expensive? Israel uses it for all agriculture and home use. A home of five can manage less than 20k per month for such water
