I bought the Starlink Gen 2 sometime last year, and a couple of weeks back I noticed some abrupt disconnections. I ran a system check with their AI and was notified that my Starlink was defective. I was given a replacement (Gen 3), which I have now installed. I contacted customer service to ask what I should do with the old unit. They told me it has been deactivated and should be properly disposed of.

Of course, I know the entire kit can’t be completely useless. I’m curious — has anyone else been in this situation, and what did you do with yours? I was advised to sell the parts like the router, cables, and charger.
please where did you get your starlink from and the installer

I was thinking its because i was on the residential plan. its a 2 week old starlink setup. I was thinking of moving to the 1tb enterprise plan but they said i cant downgrade. Anyone using the 1tb enterprise package here, if yes how is your network performance?

Same here. Starlink agent told me it's WiFi interference from my end. Also said that I should split WiFi bands (which I did ever since I got my kit).

Safe to say starlink customer support don't know the cause too, but at least they acknowledged the pack losses shown on events and outages logs.

They're heavily replacing decommissioned satellites though. I was on a call with an agent for almost 20mins, he said my area has few satellites hence the congestion

That's a good point. 🤔
Only two things still giving me pause.

1. How sudden it was.
Let's say Monday, almost no packet loss with clear skies, and then Tuesday upwards is just non-stop packet loss with clear skies.

2. My current setup is in the Southeast, which is not as busy as the top 9ja cities. Definitely slower adoption.

If it was due to congestion, I would expect it to happen more gradually, maybe deteriorating slowly over several weeks.

Unless the 'area' is this region of the world as a whole.
Something just feels off about the whole situation.

It has to be this region of the world since it affects let's say every users in the country

After 3 and a half years on Starlink, I have finally canceled my subscription for the first time. I have been using MTN Fibre concurrently for early 3 months now just to test and see before pulling the trigger and I must say I'm fully satisfied with MTN FibreX. Like the difference is faaarrrr at the moment. Starlink has become really slow while the MTN is super fast and consistent. Hardly ever had any downtime since I started. Heavy rain seems to even be faster. I'm on the 100Mbps plan and it's mostly true to speed unlike starlink that struggles to give me 20Mbps these days. Watching 4K Movies on Stremio and streaming live matches on Starlink was nearly impossible. With this MTN it's smooth.

I am also thinking of quitting Starlink for MTN Fibre X. My guy who's been using it for months have been enjoying true speed

I don't even know what to do sef.. Cos Starlink agent also claim my 3rd Router is the one interfering with my speed especially at night.. As how now

Something that has never happened before just started happening all of a sudden.. I tire for Starlink oo undecided
