So why is this relevant to we Nigerians? Does he play for Nigeria? No. You can as well start bringing the profiles of David Alaba, Manuel Akanji or Saka to the front page if you think this is right

Nigeria has lots of talents in this world cup sadly they repping other nations...

Alaba for Austria; Akanji for Switzerland; Eze, Saka, Madueke for England; Musiala for Germany; Olise for France; Balogun for USA; oluwaseyi for Canada; etc just imagine loads of Nigerian talents doing well for all these countries... Just imagine them teaming up with osimhen, iwobi, lookman etc that would be lots of firepower...
They are doing well, but super Eagles don’t need them.

This simply shows football is in most Nigerians , irrespective of where they are based or were raised. Nigeria can hunt for local talents and build a team, and not be looking at already-made European talents

That is good news. I am happy for him for choosing to play for France. I cannot recommend any player like him to play for super eagles. I mean how can you have diverse talents like him in a squad and NFF open mouth to say they will use their local coaches to manage the super eagles because the federation is broke.

Olise can't be an Urhobo name .
His middle name "Akpovie" points to Urhobo roots from his Father's maternal lineage.
Is Sunday Oliseh an Urhobo ?
No nau.

Michael Olise is Ukwuani (Ndokwa ) same ethnicity with Brig -Gen Alabi-Isamah and Chief Eric Opia former DESOPADEC Boss.
Anioma heritage really.
Aboh and Abavo people still bears urhobo and Igbo names.

There is nothing like Urhobo and Ukwani descent. You are from your Father's family and his father's name is Vincent Olise. The name Olise has no meaning Urhobo language.

How does this article even make sense? He is mixed race and not black too
I tell ya. Same reports would be going on in Algeria and they'll probably be feeling like most Nigerians: our son....

A multiracial being that chose the French is no son of Nigeria or Algeria.

Una like to dey claim better thing. If e make una feel better, ride on natty...

I'm rare too, my mom is nigerian and my dad is icelandic. Rare to see a black person in iceland of all places.

My mom was tr@fficked from denmark enroute to iceland during the dotcom bubble at the time my mom traveled to sweden for studies, she stayed 6 months before she was kidnapped.

Good thing is my dad happen to rescue her from the danish traffickers.

But hate and bad leadership didn't allow Nigeria.

Look at DR Congo and Cape Verde, they have lots of internationally-bred players in their them. Reason why they qualified and got up to world cup knockout first stage.

Olise that I know is normally answered by Anioma people.

Olise is same as Olisa, means God. Just different dialect under one language.

But that's not the topic here.
grin grin

A country like Brazil, you will see 2 mixed ( or 1 black and mixed parent) giving birth to 4 children, some whites, black and mixed....Very interesting country.

Now on Olise, the Ukwuani people who are: 70% Edo
28% Igala
2%. Across the Niger especially Abbi( has the 1st 2 tribes as well) has STRONG bonds with their Urhobo & Isoko BROTHERS, including those at the Central part, Orogun.

Olise is an EDO word borrowed by those across the Niger especially with some ANIOMA/ Eze Chime people in Onitsha, Oguta, Ohafia( one Ohafia guy said they are not EDO people but from Ika, LOL), some Enugu areas too apart from returnees after the transatlantic era who remembered their way home.

Olise is from the gods of ANIOMA people ie ORISHA( Variant of the name: Olisa, Orise/ Oritse etc).....Their other gods: Olokun, Ogun, Idigun etc( called in their own languages)

No mind the werey. Na only Ukwani people dey bear Olise in the whole of Nigeria. Olise means the same thing as Olisa (meaning is God in Igbo language). Let him tell us the meaning of Olise in Uhorbo language. Lol
I saw Okpe there. If they said Orogun I would have understood.

I have seen Urhobo answering names like that? My friend family though Urhobo has strong Kwale background. Their father was taken to Kwale area at a young age by the mother and some of the children have Kwale names. Though Urhobo, they speak both language fluently.

Urhobo and Ukwuani interaction is very strong, I even heard that at a time the Ukwuani greeting was also Megwor/Vrendo in the Urhobo pattern before they changed it. I dont know how true that is but it only shows the depth of interaction between both groups. Many families in the Orogun/Abraka axis of Urhobo speak both languages fluently and sometimes bear names that cut accross
