MTN Must Go? Students Protest Over Xenophobic Attacks in South Africa

Members of the Association of University Students staged a protest, chanting "MTN Must Go! South Africa Must Go!" in response to alleged xenophobic attacks on Nigerians and other African nationals in South Africa.

The protesters argued that while South African businesses continue to operate successfully in Nigeria, Nigerians abroad have repeatedly faced violence and discrimination. They called for stronger action to protect African migrants and urged authorities to address the recurring attacks.

The demonstration has sparked mixed reactions. While some support economic pressure as a form of protest, others argue that targeting businesses like MTN could affect thousands of Nigerian workers and customers.

The protest has once again raised questions about Nigeria–South Africa relations and how both countries can better protect their citizens.
What do you think? Should economic pressure be used to protest xenophobic attacks, or should the issue be resolved through diplomacy?

We don't reason or behave like the South Africans.

Their companies in Nigeria are not the one doing the Xenophobic.

Goldberg Goldberg Gobeck, the spaza shops the South Africans took over from the foreigners, some of them can't even renew the rent, while the foreigners are operating from 6am to 9pm, the new owners are opening from 10 while closing by 5pm.

Things that will hit them are already jogging on their case

You are right, I always tell people, Nigerians will show foreigners hell if we have an economy that attract a huge number of foreigners like that of S.A . If South Africans are bad wallahi Nigerians are worse and Nigerians are just the reflections of the leaders we have.

Re: MTN Must Go! SA Must Go– Nigerian University Students Protest Xenophobic Attacks by MrPresident1:
What do the Nigerians in South Africa contribute to the South African economy? Where are the Nigerian conglomerates or multinationals or FMGCs in South Africa? Is it only Pentecostal churches, drugs, crimes, and petty business that the Nigerians contribute? The native South Africans can do this by themselves.

The foreigners especially the other Africans in South Africa are running a parasitic economy on the Black South Africans. There is no capital inflow, they bring no skills, they upgrade nothing! They just steal the jobs that the natives can do.

Years of Apartheid has dulled the senses of native South Africans but they are waking up to the fact that they can control their own informal economy and generate more incomes for themselves, and their households and collect these Jobs from the foreigners who have taken it, have been ungrateful, and turn around to call them lazy, while collecting and sleeping with their women.

The white people control over 90% of the economy of South Africa while the 10% reserved for Black people have been taken over by foreigners, why won't there be a backlash especially when there is an awakening?

General Amin chased away the Indians when they were controlling the Ugandan Economy and freezing away Ugandans. Ghana chased away Nigerians in the 60s, Nigeria chased away the Ghanaians in the 80s, why is everyone baring their teech against Black South Africans who are awakening to the reality of their situation?

Easy guys. MTN network is the most stable in Nigeria, and millions of workers rely on the network for a reliable internet connection. Let's not shoot ourselves in the foot. We should be protesting the porous borders in Northern Nigeria, allowing bandits and terrorists to infiltrate Nigeria. Also, majority of SA are not xenophobic

I have said it before on this forum: South Africans will be more affected by this route they have chosen to take. By the time the whole African countries ostracize them, their body go tell them. No nation on earth is indispensable of others.

Next, I want the African Union to place a heavy sanction on them, since the government is complicit but pretends not to
