Lol, I've been using the Airtel ODU since October last year. I've seen all there is to see. My number one priority is streaming Cos I used it to replace my DStv. Before this world cup, when the league seasons were still on, I wouldn't dream of streaming a live match in HD. Champions league nights were even worse.

But I noticed all that has changed recently. Been streaming all world cup matches in HD without any buffer. I don't know if they improved by themselves or their hands were forced by MTN's competing ODU. Or is it even the servers I'm using to stream World Cup. I just know there's been glaring improvement

Yes I have done speed tests with it. The speed tests on 4G+ and 5G is similar with my Airtel ODU.

I noticed that with 2.4 and 5GHz transmission power on 100%, it lasts 4-5hrs on 4G. But when I reduced the 2.4GHz WiFi band to 25% (the 5GHz one is currently switched off), I was able to use it for 8hrs (100 down to 23% battery left) on 4G and 5G (but on 5G, you must keep it on a flat surface like table, tiles or glass table else the temperature will rise and it'd drain faster despite being on 25% Tx power)

I use it mostly on 4G with and without battery (supports being powered directly from a power bank or charger)

This has been my experience so far. The seller knows these and I've given him this feedback, especially about the Tx power at 25% thingy, recently.

Omo from my observations, the value from the speed test app is mostly fake..

Will be giving you consistent 45Mbps and above but it's fake.

Try the web version and other speed tests to get your actual speed.

For the heating with 5GHz, most pocket routers are like that. Perhaps it's something that could be solved someday with new tech (might be obtainable in highly premium routers in the market).

Pls help a brother, for 3 months now I have been getting 50kb to 500kb as speed in my Airtel ODU 50MBPS plan.
I intend to dump it after expiration of my current sub

So yesterday alot of people Spammed the ODU activation on their normal line and unfortunately most got the free internet access until MTN blocked it.

My guess is this will likely further frustrate efforts to activate new subscribers. But why now wey I dey plan to purchase 🤦🏾‍♂️

This is my second ODU, and I enjoyed using the first one so much that I decided to get another. 😄

Since they’re currently on promo (from ₦40,000 down to ₦25,000), I figured it made more sense to use my ₦25k to buy another ODU instead of paying for another subscription.

One thing I noticed, though, is that Airtel seems to have improved the ZLT network. On my first ODU, Band 7 always gave me the best performance. But on this new one, I couldn’t get more than 7 Mbps download speed at first.

Out of curiosity, I enabled all the available bands, and boom! 🚀 My download speed jumped to a minimum of 47 Mbps. That’s a massive improvement.

Has anyone else noticed this on the newer Airtel ODUs?

hello could you share how you enabled all bands , I am also considering getting another ODU just to keep the power bank which lasts me on this present one about 6-7 hours , I’d use it to power my fan when the light is off rather than just pay another 25k


But could you share a how to run on all the we bands thanks

I even tried with one Hynetflex line, still the same.

Please ooo, just got airtel odu, how do i enter the network area where i can see 5g or 4g or 3g network place to switch. Highest i am getting is 15mbps i need help

Please i need help. Whenever i connect vpn my odu will not browse . I need help on how to fix this issue

Do you really need to lock bands? If you discovered a stable band you are sure of, you can try your hand on the locking process. For the ZTE ODU you'd need a script. Someone posted it on YouTube but you may find it here if you search ZTE band locking as we have talked about it at length in the past.

Yh, so I was using the normal Airtel unlimited 5g router before and it’s been good but due to price and speed different was why I got the odu and the 5g was always locked to band 7, finally found a way to lock the odu band but band 3 seems to be the best for me.

Good you found the method. You can also use the ODU SIM on the 5G IDU router.
