VirusVaccine:Y'all should stop unnecessary renovating someone properly that much, to the extent of spending big. Owner might fill you want to kill them and take over there properrties. For Oftentimes property owners who don't like renovating even when they increase rent, have this habit. If they do it 3 time in 2 years, there apartment would have been upgraded . Wicked people everywhere |

From your tenancy agreement, you were not to renovate without their consent. Now you have broken that agreement so I am doubtful you will be refunded for renovations. They are also within their rights to terminate the agreement before expiration of the one year rent, per the agreement. Where the Lagos state laws protect you is they are mandated to give 6 months notice ahead of termination/non-renewal, which is what they have done. Sorry, but you can't win this. |

I think you did all the clean up because you thought you'd stay there for long. Sadly, the people refused you. Count it all lost if you did not carry them along and they approved it for you. It's clear you were a little desperate to get a house because even the agent fee was too much. Probably, you had money to throw around and you didn't even consider what you were doing until now. As it stands, only proofs and understanding you had with the people can help you, else there's nothing you can do. Don't feel too bad. At least you've learnt some lessons from here. Just see it like you wasted some of the money to buy some lessons. The key lesson here is to make sure you'd be allowed to stay in a place for at least five years, especially when the agent fee is much and you'd have to renovate the house to a certain level. You have the agent agreement with you. Look at it with an attorney and see if you have any chance to recoup some of your expenses. It's unfair but they're only exploiting the law/agreement you guys had. |

franksam209:He was seriously irresponsible with money. I doubt if he carried his wife along or someone else in this. He had so much money at the time. I doubt if he's still on such money now. |

VirusVaccine:Sorry. You should have notifified them before carrying out renovations in a property that is not yours, except you intentionally intended to dash them your money. Everyone on this platform must read Tenancy Law. And always seek the advice of a lawyer while trying to sign a tenancy agreement. You could sign yourself to poverty without knowing. |
