Lol...Oga George, be calming down. If I knew a viable and sustainable means to do so, I wont be asking. Most of recommended platforms i know have stopped streaming.

The other day i came across a news where the minister of communication in Ghana announced that MTN fibre pricing in Ghana has drastically reduced. The government intervened and got the prices down. The plan that caught my attention was the 300Mbps plan that now costs approximately 54k. If we had such a plan in this country, most people would prefer to use Fibre, given how slow and annoying Starlink has become in places like Abuja, especially during the day.

It got me thinking about the useless government we have. The only thing it is good at is taxing these companies to hell, and in return, these companies pass those cost to us the customers.

Same here. Starlink agent told me it's WiFi interference from my end. Also said that I should split WiFi bands (which I did ever since I got my kit).

Safe to say starlink customer support don't know the cause too, but at least they acknowledged the pack losses shown on events and outages logs.
They are lying. This packet loss issue started days ago and it only comes up in the evenings

I saw it too. Their fiberx pricing is way lower than ours.

But is it affecting anything?
my ping and latency are still as normal.
My guess is, it is due to the rainy season, more clouds are present in the sky

Re: My SpaceX Starlink Internet Experience In Lagos, Nigeria by johnnyholtby(m): 5:57pm On Jul 09
Speeds are slightly down (cos of peak hours) but latency is good at 18ms.

After 3 and a half years on Starlink, I have finally canceled my subscription for the first time. I have been using MTN Fibre concurrently for early 3 months now just to test and see before pulling the trigger and I must say I'm fully satisfied with MTN FibreX. Like the difference is faaarrrr at the moment. Starlink has become really slow while the MTN is super fast and consistent. Hardly ever had any downtime since I started. Heavy rain seems to even be faster. I'm on the 100Mbps plan and it's mostly true to speed unlike starlink that struggles to give me 20Mbps these days. Watching 4K Movies on Stremio and streaming live matches on Starlink was nearly impossible. With this MTN it's smooth.
I did the same too. Starlink in lagos is now shitty.

If you have good speed and your streaming is poor, then the issue is from the streaming platform. Like my twitter app videos don't play smoothly but other apps are good.

Re: My SpaceX Starlink Internet Experience In Lagos, Nigeria by johnnyholtby(m): 7:40am On Jul 12
This is a DNS issue.
You can try Cloudfare DNS plus Google's DNS as backup. Been using this for months and it works fine

Does yours auto switch custom dns off whenever you reboot?
Re: My SpaceX Starlink Internet Experience In Lagos, Nigeria by johnnyholtby(m): 9:06am On Jul 12
Nope it doesn't. Enable custom DNS, click save, then restart your terminal
