I don't know what happened to a sound mind like soludo? Common sense tells everyone that building another airport in anambra at this time is supposed not to be a major priority for now it doesn't make any economic sense. Anambra have the second smallest land mass in nigeria after lagos and most of the land are currently battling with erosion problems so I wonder why soludo think that calving out a huge land mass for another airport project should make any sense instead of investing the money in other critical infrastructural projects like stable power or intercity rail project which anambra currently lacks. |

PHIPEX:rail to move which goods to which port?? Power generation that would have ripple effect on energy cost... Public transport infrastructure... Low cost Housing... Health insurance coverage/ access to affordable quality health care and education... Internet fiber connectivity..The list is endless one can keep going on. Instead of tackling the basics they prefer white elephant project just to loot.. |

IGBOPROMISE1:You must be on expired mkporu mirri if you mean Soludo is jealous of a clown like Obi. * Soludo was a professor at a very young age while Obi spent over a decade in the university studying a lowly rated social science course * Soludo was governor of CBN while Obi was just a common trader with little economic sense. * Soludo is currently on his second term as governor of Anambra yet has already outperformee more than Obi because Obi was a disaster * Soludo is 100times more respected at national level than Obi because Obi is seen as clown and a national disaster |

NaijaLandGuy:ANAMBRA DOESN'T NEED A SEAPORT BECAUSE ANAMBRA DOESN'T HAVE SEA. ANAMBRA NEED A RIVER-PORT FOR LIGHTER AND SMALL SHIPS THOUGH THEY NEED TO DO A LOT OF DRAGGING FOR THAT TO WORK. THESE ARE WHAT ANAMBRA NEED; 1. POWER PLANT 2. RAIL WAY 3. AN INTEGRATED INDUSTRIAL CITY/ INDUSTRIAL PARKS 4. INTERNATIONAL MARKET/TRADE CENTER/BUSINESS DISTRICT 5. GOOD ROADS FOR TRANSPORTATION/ MEANS. 6. MAYBE A RIVER PORT (THOUGH IT WILL BE EXPENSIVE TO MAINTAIN) 7. UPGRADING THE CURRENT AIRPORT TO INTERNATIONAL STANDARD WITH CARGO WINGS |

Makes no economic sense to set up another airport, irrespective of immediate reasons, i suspect runway size issues impacting type of airplanes that can land in current one. It is not necessary as it is very capital intensive. The state should focus on income generation. There is a level of financial sustainability a state gets to , it can afford to start some type of projects. I am disappointed with the Prof. |

Helinuse:Nigeria doesn't have as many airports as Kenya and SA. Airports are not just for passengers but also for security (drones) and cargo. |

AsomughaChuks02:Please let us be realistic and leave politics or tribalism. Tell me the need for a second airport when the first has not been completely utilized? Of all the problems facing Anambra state he chose to build a second airport he may not complete when the same money could have been used to build power plants and solar farms to truly ensure the industrialization of Anambra state. Sometimes I just wonder how our leaders reason. I am amazed that a professor of Economics that did very well as cbn governor is failing miserably as a state governor. I really had high hopes in him but I am terribly disappointed. |
| Re: Odinkalu Blasts Soludo Over 'secret' Airport Project, Environmental Law Breach by Clobisman(m): 8:31pm On Jul 13 |
Noneroone:Building airport is one of the easiest way to siphon money by governors and that is why they all jostle to construct one even when glaringly they know it is not viable and a waste of resources. Even in USA as rich as they are not all states have an airport and some just have an airstrip. Some of the governors only construct airports and flyovers just for bragging right and don’t care where it leads to or economic value. The acclaimed professor doesn’t even care if the airport his predecessor built is functioning he is just desperate to be known as a governor that built an airport. |

Noneroone:Prof Odinkalu's Selective Environmentalism With Obi Colouration. by CharlesCNG Nobody serious should oppose ESIA compliance. If Anambra State is building a second airport, industrial city or aerotropolis in Ndikelionwu, the government should publish the relevant environmental documents, consult host communities, show compensation plans, disclose mitigation measures and remove ambiguity. That is basic governance. But Odinkalu’s argument is not just about ESIA. It is wrapped in political suspicion. First, this project has not been entirely “secret.” As far back as September 2025, Punch reported that Anambra officials spoke of a proposed airport and industrial park in Ndikelionwu, with the airport MD describing it as part of Soludo’s smart megacity/aerotropolis vision. The same day, the government later pushed back, saying the report was speculative and that technical investigations were being done to determine suitable transport systems for the Anambra Mixed-use Industrial City. So the fair criticism is poor communication and policy inconsistency, not necessarily “secret airport” as if bulldozers landed from heaven at midnight. Second, asking for ESIA is legitimate. Declaring the project doomed, secretive and a future white elephant before demanding and reviewing the actual documents is politics wearing environmental lab coat. Third, the word “aerotropolis” is not automatically fraud. Many serious airport-city projects combine aviation, logistics, industry, housing and commercial corridors. The question is not whether the word sounds big. The question is whether Anambra has the traffic, funding model, land-use plan, investor structure, environmental approvals and long-term economic logic to sustain it. That is where serious people should debate. But because Soludo is involved, some Obidient-adjacent critics suddenly become environmental saints. If this was Peter Obi announcing “Anambra Dubai-Taiwan Airport City,” the same people would call it visionary, disruptive and world-class. Let Soludo publish the ESIA. Let the host communities be consulted. Let compensation and ecological impact be clear. But let us also stop pretending that every Soludo project is automatically suspicious because he once told Obi hard political truths. Environmental accountability is good. Political bitterness wearing ESIA helmet is another thing entirely. |
