Of course education is very important in a man's life, no matter how rich you are, you still need to be literate. But school na scam crew will not like this. |

Gotocourt:If only! ![]() But the countries that have job fairs are based heavily on manufacturing and export of manufactured goods. As a result they have a sector that can and does generate jobs , even when the economy is 'stagnant' (though this am I was reading that China is now producing far more graduates than jobs this year). Nigeria's problems, which I have mentioned many times, but most people miss, because they think I am defending or attacking their personal favorite politican, is that our economy is oil dependent. This means that we basically just import and import. It is conducive for people who are merchants, but for graduates, problem solvers? Since we do not need to for example make toothpicks from the wood resources we have here, we can just import...that's a lot of jobs lost. And since imported stuff is expensive (imported toiletroll can be 800 times more expensive than Nigerian one)..it drives up inflation, which has a negative net impact on our spending ability. It also worsens the naira value. That;s why we can't buy as many things with N2000 as we could ten, twenty even thirty years ago. The problem with Nigeria, and for that matter most African nations is that we have governments that want to lift people out of poverty, and apopulation that wants to live the good life now. It's how independence was sold to the masses, because most Nigerians as at 1940 didn't care about indepndence or self government. So, the best route was to export raw materials and either import the finished goods, or import the parts of finished goods, assemble them in the country, and pretend as if we were making them here. Well, our population is too large to keep on doing that. NO jobs, poor value of the naira...people run abroad. That;s why the only job fairs for medical doctors are for those wishing to go abroad. |

omonwayaro:There was one american musician who dropped out of high school to become a member of a very famous 1980's band in the genre of heavy metal music. Yet he went back to school despite being rich and having made it, because over the years he kept on hearing from members of other bands how their managers were ripping them off in the name of contracts. He went back to school and became an accountant so that he could end that nonsense. |

Very nice decision. However, I will advise him to do that after retirement . Even our former President, Olusegun Obasanjo went back to school after being a president at a ripe old age. There is no age limit for learning. Like I always say, the day you STOP learning is the day you START dying. |

Victor really needs the education. This same bobo wey lodge for hotel wey I lodge for VI and carried like ten exotic cars come. In his convoy, you go see Rolls Royce, Lamborghini, Ferrari, Range Rover, G wagon, etc. and he no dey comot without all of them. That shows illiteracy. First, why blow all your money on all those exotic cars? Second, why moving around in all of them at the same time? See as them just dey constitute nuisance for the hotel. The guy should quickly go that school. He need am ![]() |

nairalanda1:Very good points, Manufacturing industries are the bedrock for growth in any society. Nigerians prefer to import, because they don’t even believe their products. If the country wants to grow, they is need to revive manufacturing plants across sectors, regions, with a nationwide spread. If we have those goods, there will be less inflation and better standard of living. We have the manpower, it is the will and love for service to the people, that is making the leaders do otherwise. The little things count, and these things help shoulder economies and keep it running! |

Sonnobax15:Nigerians didn't resulted to the mantra "School na scam" because EDUCATION is scam. The mantra was born out of the foundation of "School will give you a better life", "School will make you successful"... These was what was fed to Nigerians when Schools was introduced to Nigeria, our parents passed down same message to us. Like every lies, it's matter of time before the truth unveils itself... When reality sets in and the lies are revealed, the mantra was born. School can't and neither is it a guarantee for success or better life. School enlightens the minds, empowers you with knowledge... But it's never a guarantee or never a promised of success or better life. If you start a good project on a bad foundation, be rest assured that it'll collapse... It's just the matter of time. Nigerians were going to school because they seek success and better life... Go to school because you're seeking knowledge. |
