| How Is Tinubu NELFUND An Achievement? by OredoPikin(op): 5:26pm On Jul 14 |
When I see people celebrating NELFUND or "student loan" by Tinubu, I just dey shake my head in disbelief. Let's analyze the genesis: You came in as president and met federal university school fees averaging ₦30k to ₦50k. You came in and increased it to over ₦200k. Hostel, handouts, departmental dues all went up too. Students started dropping out. Parents started crying. Then you now came and say come and take loan from us to pay. How is that supposed to be an achievement? Even devil nor cunning reach this level. You created a problem, then sold us the solution to the problem you created. And it’s not even a solution. It’s debt. You increased the cost of education so high that poor people cannot afford it. Then you said "don’t worry, borrow money". Money that they must pay back after NYSC. In a country with one of the highest rate of unemployment. So after 4 to 5years of suffering, graduating with no job, you now start owing FG money. With penalties if you don’t pay. So instead of starting life, you’re starting with debt. What kind of wickedness is this? No jobs, no power, no hospitals, but we have "student loan" to celebrate. This is not help. This is entrapment. This is not an achievement. This is wicked policy design. The goal is simple: Make education so expensive that only children of the rich can afford it outright. The rest of us? Borrow, graduate, suffer, and pay for the next 10 years. |

OredoPikin:I no fit count the numbers of people wey I know wey drop out of school because their parents couldn't afford the 45k tuition fee There were numerous Students whose parents struggle to send them 5k in a month But today NELFUND is not just taken care of the students school fees, the students are also getting weekly or monthly allowance for their upkeep. |

OredoPikin:Otemwen Ovbigbo, that is the same model western countries have used that has stood the test of time to ensure not just rich people's children can earn a university degree. Even those from poor families with the ability can go and better themselves and their family. I have nieces and nephews abroad who have paid their student loan off, still paying a dothers that are looking to apply, no shame in it. |

Parachoko:So People that could not afford 45k, How do u now want them to pay a loan running to millions? Or u think nelfund na grant? |
| Re: How Is Tinubu NELFUND An Achievement? by givedemwotowoto: 6:15pm On Jul 14 |
Parachoko:is NELFUND a grant or a loan that you have to pay back? How will you pay back with the high rate of unemployment and low quality education? |
| Re: How Is Tinubu NELFUND An Achievement? by aswani(m): 6:19pm On Jul 14 |
OredoPikin:UK and US, education isn't free at University level. Jobs or no jobs, people with the ability have an opportunity to get a good university education. |

SeeWahala:Sir, I only pointed out that my younger relatives were tapping into the said loans system and owing money on graduation. | Re: How Is Tinubu NELFUND An Achievement? by OredoPikin(op): 6:24pm On Jul 14 |
aswani:So how are they supposed to pay back the loan? I know what i went through to get a job after NYSC. That's like after spending over 2yrs applying and applying. U mean after the struggle in Nigeria universities, struggle to get a job which majority ended up not getting I will be thinking of how to pay a loan |
| Re: How Is Tinubu NELFUND An Achievement? by aswani(m): 6:28pm On Jul 14 |
OredoPikin:In the UK, I am reliably informed you only start paying after you start earning over a certain amount. I haven't investigated NELFUND enough but I suggest there might be something similar. I once worked with a friend that went back home to live with his parents and paid it off in under two years. Because you might not be employed if you go to University is not a reason not to go, no one will in that case. |
| Re: How Is Tinubu NELFUND An Achievement? by OredoPikin(op): 6:31pm On Jul 14 |
duduade:Another angle I dont see the need of increasing fees and then giving out loans to pay from same govt u claim is broke. Nelfund is just another money looting scheme. When TINUBU is out of govt and the next govt decide to probe nelfund, you will be amazed with trillions that must have been stolen |

| Re: How Is Tinubu NELFUND An Achievement? by Adblg0610: 7:47pm On Jul 14 |
OredoPikin:No be by force to borrow money to go school, it’s optional. My take for indigent students, is to take the NELFUND now, get education and let preparation wait for opportunities. I used to have a friend, now deceased, who won a scholarship to go to secondary school. But because his parent couldn’t afford N45 required and refused to borrow, his education ended abruptly. He worked briefly in his father’s small carpentry workshop before his untimely death, due to inability to get prescribed medication for his illness. |

Same way the incompetent bat is owing TI workers promotion arrears for the past 3 years from 2023, 25/35% salary arrears, minimum wage arrears, wage age for over 2 years and others, but he now gives tssif loan and calls it an achievement. Even the TIs get less than 15% of thier running costs, yet the FG is pushing nelfund. It simply starved TIs and diverted the funds. Classic case of robbing Peter to pay Paul. |

Ok so this administration raised school fees and then offer to pay for people that can't afford while those that can afford it should pay. How do you get quality education with 30k or 50k. Let's do opposition with sense. Even at 30k to 50k like you stated many people were dropping out. I can't count how many people I know that dropped out because of this 30k and 50k you mentioned. Now justapoxe that with Obi that increased school fees and tell those that can't afford it that school is not for the poor? Let's check something. |

Nigerians want to continue paying 3,000 naira monthly for university education ? Yet they want world class university education in those universities. In a country of 240 million, where half of the population is less than 18 years ? we are so confused. I doubt any nanny will accept 10,000 naira remuneration monthly for a child to stay with a nanny in the nanny house for few hours in a day monthly. |

OredoPikin:Lol. Ignorant twaddle and lies from a Tinubu hater only interested in demarketing our President. The world has around 195 nation. See the factual number,15 to 24, that offers free or subsizidised University education out of 195 nations the world has. You think folks are illiterate here or can't grab facts quickly in an AI and information age? Hate for others is such a terrible thing because it can make you tell lies and invent ridiculous propaganda in attempt to damage those you hate and make you someone who has become an enemy of the progress of your own society and those best capable to deliver that progress.

You mean, when u guys were protesting and calling GEJ out, it was hate for GEJ and south south abi? Time really reveal sha I hope my south south people are seeing this |

OredoPikin:Why are some of you Nigerians so dishonest and incapable of accepting correction? That is the post from you I responded to. OredoPikin:I showed factually the bolded is wrong because out of 195 nations of the world only 15 to 24 have free and subsidised University education whereas the bolded in your post, to be accurate, would mean at least 100 of the world's nation provides free University education. Why do you guys lie so much and then double down defending your lies instead of admitting you goofed? When they then say Nigerians are scammers you will begin to shout. |
