What pisses me off the most is that they'll then be expecting people of other races to accept their Afrocentric features as they are when they suffer from self hate... You can't hate your Afrocentric features and expect other racial groups to love them. Nefort: |

Kelklein:The parents will not take anything up… this is a slap in the wrist when it comes to punishment in command schools ….. the parents already know things can get ugly… years back… some parents enrol their most stubborn children there as punishment for all the stress the kid has given them…. But now things have calmed down,….. normal kids go to command like a normal choice |

If you think sending your child to COMMAND DAY SECONDARY SCHOOL will instilled decipline in them, you are joking. Those soldiers themselves are not decipline at all. I rather put my child in a private school than CDSS. I finished from same school many years ago but I tell you the truth your child will be worse off than what you think. |

[quote author=shiwex post=140022168]I find it deeply concerning that a secondary school would discipline students by shaving an "X" shape into their hair. Such a practice can be humiliating and may have a negative impact on a child's self-esteem. While schools have a responsibility to enforce discipline and maintain standards, disciplinary measures should be reasonable, respectful, and focused on correcting behaviour rather than embarrassing students. In my view, there are many more appropriate ways to address misconduct, such as counselling, detention, community service within the school, parental involvement, or other educational sanctions. Publicly marking students with unusual hairstyles risks causing unnecessary distress and ridicule from their peers. Parents have a right to question the school's actions and seek clarification on the disciplinary policies that permitted such treatment. If they believe the school acted improperly or violated students' rights, they may wish to pursue the matter through formal complaints procedures and, where appropriate, obtain legal advice regarding their options. Schools should aim to discipline students in a manner that preserves their dignity and promotes positive behavioural change, rather than using measures that could be perceived as degrading or humiliating. students do have legal rights, although schools also have authority to enforce discipline. Some of the key rights that may be relevant are: Right to dignity and respect – The Nigerian Constitution guarantees the right to the dignity of the human person, and the Child Rights Act also recognizes a child's right to dignity. Disciplinary measures that humiliate, degrade, or publicly shame students could potentially be challenged on this basis. [nigeriarights.gov.ng], [nigeriarights.gov.ng] Protection from abuse and harmful treatment – The Child Rights Act seeks to protect children from physical and psychological abuse, exploitation, and other harmful practices. [nigeriarights.gov.ng], [awjai.org] Right to education – Students have a right to receive education in a safe environment. Schools are expected to maintain discipline while respecting students' welfare and rights. [nigeriarights.gov.ng], [awjai.org] Freedom from discrimination – Children are entitled to protection from discrimination and unfair treatment. [nigeriarights.gov.ng], [nigeriarights.gov.ng] Regarding the specific issue of shaving an "X" into students' hair, whether it is illegal would depend on the circumstances, the school's rules, parental consent, and whether a court or regulatory body considers the action degrading or abusive. Merely being a military-style school does not automatically give it unlimited authority over students' appearance. [nigeriarights.gov.ng], [nigeriarights.gov.ng] Parents who are concerned could: Request an explanation from the school. Review the school's disciplinary policy. Submit a formal complaint to the school authorities. Escalate the matter to the State Ministry of Education or relevant education board. Seek independent legal advice if they believe their child's rights were violated. From a personal perspective, many people would argue that marking a child with a distinctive hairstyle as punishment is unnecessarily humiliating and that more constructive disciplinary measures could achieve the same objective without causing embarrassment. Whether it amounts to a legal violation, however, would ultimately depend on the specific facts and applicable law. All this epistle wouldn't have mattered if the belligerent students had just follow simple rules |

Mtmike:The way we defend and encourage indiscipline is what put us where we are as a country today Total disregard for constituted authority Rules are rules no matter whose ox is gored Why in the fist place will you put your child into such a traumatizing situation as a responsible parent This syndrome of NOTHING WILL HAPPEN has made us to throw caution to the winds and just allow anything to fly That way the entire fabrics of discipline and regimentation of the society is entirely destroyed Did he offend Yes Does the school have right to punish offenders Yes Do you have right over school rules No Does your child have right over school rules No So let the governing rules and regulations take it's cause biko |

Mtmike:Bro, it's not same perspective with military schools o. Believe me, you won't be able to do anything as this part of their disciplinary policies. The best you can do is pull your child from the school. Speaking from experience |
| Re: A Secondary School Gave Students Weird Hairstyles (Photos) by Mtmike(m): 1:15pm On Jul 15 |
cinoedhunter:Thats total bullshit, my child cant go to a school where i wont have a say. what if the children get infected from sharing clippers, who bears the burn. African mentality of archaic discipline. best thing is to send them home and call their parents not bring them back until they have their haircut. Even the boarding school i attended, proper barbars come every saturday to cut our hair. many students then had their personal clipper with their guardians. and the saloon has a good sterilizer for those who dont have clippers. we should learn to do things properly. not just na so them they do am rubbish |
| Re: A Secondary School Gave Students Weird Hairstyles (Photos) by Mtmike(m): 1:22pm On Jul 15 |
wao, thats what you call discipline. you people and old archaic mentality. isnt this the same comand one of my cousin attended and turn out to be the black sheep of the family, i see how discipline their students are. first you didnt read the part where i said i wont let my child go to sch with an haircut that doesnt conform with the school rules. So this wouldnt even happen with me in the first place, secondly do you know there is high risk of infection in sharing clippers, thirdly the parent has majority of the fault in this matter. the proper thing is to send the kids home and call their parent not to bring them if they dont cut their hair RHCM: |
