The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has detained two supporters of the National Democratic Coalition (NDC) presidential candidate, Peter Obi, identified as Precious Oruche, popularly known as Mama Pee, and Peter Akah, also known as Randy Peter.

The development was disclosed late Wednesday by Obi’s personal photographer, Esther Umoh, in a post on X.

According to Umoh, the two supporters honoured an invitation from the anti-graft agency in Abuja but had not been released several hours later.

She wrote, “@MamaPee__ and @Peter4Nigeria were invited by the EFCC in Abuja, and as respectful citizens, they honored the invitation today. But as I type this, they are yet to be released by the commission.”

Checks on the X accounts of Mama Pee and Randy Peter show that their last posts were made on Tuesday. The posts were comments relating to the alleged Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC) scam involving self-acclaimed council Director-General, Adeniyi Adeyemi, and President Bola Tinubu’s Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila.

The EFCC has yet to state the reason for their invitation or continued detention as of the time of filing this report. Peter Obi has also not publicly commented on the development.

EFCC releases Peter Obi’s supporters after questioning

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has released two supporters of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, presidential candidate, Peter Obi, held in its custody.

The two supporters, Randy Peter and Precious Oruche, popularly known as Mama Pee, who are activists, regained their freedom on Wednesday night after several hours of engagement with officials of the anti-graft agency.

A fellow activist, Justice Cracks, who confirmed their release in a statement shared on social media, disclosed that he accompanied both individuals to the EFCC headquarters on Tuesday afternoon after they received the invitation from the commission.

He added that the meeting lasted for several hours before the activists were eventually allowed to leave the premises.

"My dear brother, Randy Peter, and my sister, Mama Pee, were invited by the EFCC. I personally accompanied them there on the afternoon of 15th July 2026, at about 1:00 p.m. It was a very long day,” Justice Crack said.

According to him, the activists were released at about midnight after spending roughly 11 hours at the commission’s office.

“They were eventually released at around 12:00 a.m. and were asked to return the following day, 16th July 2026. For now, everything is fine,” he added.

When Peter Obi is president, he can harass whom he wants from APC, I would welcome APC noisemakers being humbled as well.

When your raison d'etre is to abuse and insult anyone with a different opinion, you should be humbled and quickly too.
