To me, I do not see English fans' reaction as being jealous or hating.

I see it as an issue of patriotism, defending and respecting your country and nationality.

I don't suppose most people here will understand because they have lost that sense of civic and social responsibility.

Fair enough but that doesn't mean they have to come for the club's head. English fans celebrate when foreign players score goals to win them domestic trophies, but nlw object when those same players succeed for their home countries. undecided

Chelsea FC has a massive international fanbase that vastly outnumbers its local, English match-going supporters. From a corporate view, a club's social media account is designed to engage its entire global audience. Celebrating a star player's individual success-regardless of their nationality is standard marketing practice, not a slight against the host nation. A large number English fans openly state they care more about their club winning a trophy than the England national team winning a tournament.
