They don't have right over the matter again, government have taken the case, the father should be a suspect too because the very day a child is delivered and obtain birth certificate, he or she has become government property, anything that happened to him/she law of the land will ask the parents questions.
I wish you didn't remind me of this birth certificate thing... Many wouldn't know how deep and true this comment is.

She is a Nigerian citizen and the country, fellow citizens, just like her family members, deserve to know what killed her.

The father is ignorant of the law, he can be arrested. What if it something viral that can affect others, learn to respect govt
people do not have faith in government. I do not trust them to bring justice, especially when a politician might get implicated.

Leave those mummmuu make them dey deceive their self. All the people kpaid by bandits, what role did the useeelesss government play?
Neoteny:
But if nothing happens to you, or there's no reasonable grounds for suspicion, the government has no business with you. Millions of people die of natural causes and road crashes every year, does the government go around claiming cadavers for autopsy?

You're a free individual required to obey laws, but you're not the property of the government.
Re: Release her body, I don't want autopsy - Mary Habila's father petitions IGP (vid by Ashirioluwa: 11:41pm On Jul 17
The state has a legal duty to investigate a murder case, and they can mandate an autopsy regardless of the victim's family's objections.

In a murder case, the government's duty to investigate a crime and protect the public outweighs the rights and wishes of the victim's family. Local or state authorities can legally order and mandate an autopsy even if the family strongly objects to the procedure.

I would have hundred percent consented to this your submission but did government pay for the well being of our children, food, health care, clothing and school fees, the answer is no.
In that case anyone can kill his child , come up with a b.s story and ask that no autopsy is done because of his culture or tradition. Homicide is a case for the state and you have no right to dictate how the police handles a suspicious case of sudden death even as a mother.

In order to exonerate our dear Minister, the first thing that should be ruled out is his DNA in that girl. If his DNA is found in any of her cavity he should be the first person to be locked up while the proper coroner's inquest continues. As for the girl's dad if any unexplainable money is traced to him then he should also be picked up next as a possible accomplice. I rest my case grin

This is already being treated as a homicide case. The body is under the authority of the state and cannot be released until the necessary investigations have been concluded."

Police should release her body to her parents as demanded by her family

Some societies do keep bachelor and spinster corpse more than 2 weeks after death. It is a taboo to keep such body
According to the law of the state which supercedes all other customary laws or wtv làw an autopsy becomes legally compulsory if a Coroner or law enforcement orders one to investigate suspicious, unnatural, or sudden deaths. Know your law. A lot of you are just too ignorant.

Funny thing is the same you people will be crying foul tomorrow when the rich uses their power , influence and resources to manipulate and destroy your lives. But now you are concocting all manner of traditional excuses to absorb the wealthy man off anything that may incriminate him should an autopsy be performed. That girl deserves justice even though we live in a zoo

Modified: normal normal they need to hastily retrieve the dearly departeds body to properly examine the corpse for missing appendages or organs because AN AUTOPSY WILL RENDER SUCH PRIOR CONFIRMATION IMPOSSIBLE wink

I just hope the minister doesn't influence the outcome of the investigations in any way. Someone that can pay about ₦110 million to that Abuja-based businesswoman, Tracy Ohiri, to settle a civil dispute and retract allegations against him that time can also do anything. I wonder why the late girl's father is so gingered rrn

You are obviously bereft of any understanding of what an autopsy is. You should remain quiet next time.

So this man is still making demands? Clearly factors such as poverty, corruption, ignorance and superstition are at play here. How was his relationship with his late daughter before her demise? Does he think being the father absolves him of liability? Very suspicious behaviour.

It is not about what you want. This is now a matter under investigation, and a matter of public interest. One of the ways to unravel the cause of death is through an autopsy, so why are you standing in the way of that? You want to impede this investigation?

You want her body to do what? Hastily put it in the ground for it to decay? Is that more important than getting justice for someone you said was your daughter? You must be joking.

It don’t work like that.Every citizen of a country belongs to the state. That’s why the government arrests people who attempt suicide & I hope they also get them the right medical care. The state issues a birth & death certificate. Her family cannot control the state. They wait till the government gets done conducting autopsy & then they can be permitted to hold a burial.
