I was arranging some old books yesterday and found a notebook from about three years ago. It was full of sermon notes. As I read through them, I couldn't believe how much God had taught me that I had completely forgotten. It also made me realise something else. Over the years, I've written notes in different notebooks, saved Bible verses on my phone, bookmarked sermons on YouTube, sent messages to myself on WhatsApp and even used Google Keep. Everything is scattered. I'm beginning to think that taking notes is not really the problem. Keeping them organised is. So I'm curious... How do you keep your sermon notes? - Traditional notebook? - Bible with handwritten notes? - Notes app on your phone? - Voice recordings? - Dedicated Bible journaling app? - Or do you simply trust your memory? Personally, I'm trying to move towards keeping everything in one place because I've realised God often reminds us of things He spoke months or even years ago. I'd really like to hear what has worked for other Christians.

Studentcosmos:See, how you just proved that you are like the seed planted among thorns? Your first problem is that you do not value God. I have no notes per se, but every sermon that I listened to, i remembered because it was either i agreed with it or i disagreed and then either in church or at home i over verified and verified it to find that which is right eg since the first that i heard them say that God is not against polygamy i did not believe and so i checked and checked and then i saw as i thought that it is indeed a lie. Polygamy is adultery of marrying the person you choose to commit adultery with. And now I know it forever. Same thing for when they said that it was Moses's anger that did not let him enter the land. I felt it made no sense for Moses is always angry for God so why would God punish him? And in that time I did never went checking for i be dey fear Bible dat time, however, God made me read it and I think I was reading the Bible for another thing when I saw it, that it was disobedience (again) that got him punished. And i shouted. Hating the fact that I had just accepted what people said without checking it and it was from that day i started rechecking every sermon and scriptures and I was amazed how many things people believe and think that are true whereas, they are not True. And that is why even though many go to church and claim born again are still the same as idol worshiping pagans. So, it is not by notes but whether you truly believe and understand that the Bible is giving you Life! |

I use One Note a cross platform Microsoft app. Microsoft OneNote is a digital note-taking application that helps you organize information, collaborate with others, and access your notes across multiple devices. Its main features include: 1. Notebook organization – Create multiple notebooks, each containing sections and pages, similar to a physical binder. 2. Rich text editing – Format text with different fonts, colors, highlights, bullet points, numbered lists, and tables. 3. Handwritten notes and drawing – Write or sketch using a stylus, touchscreen, or mouse. You can also highlight and annotate notes. 4. Multimedia support – Insert images, audio recordings, videos, PDFs, documents, and file attachments directly into your notes. 5. Audio and video recording – Record lectures, meetings, or interviews while taking notes. Notes can be linked to specific points in the recording. 6. Web clipping – Save articles, webpages, recipes, or research from the internet directly into OneNote. 7. Search functionality – Quickly search for text, handwritten notes, or keywords across all notebooks. 8. Tags – Mark notes with tags such as Important, To Do, Question, or create custom tags to make information easier to find. 9. Collaboration – Share notebooks with colleagues, classmates, or friends and edit notes together in real time. 10. Cloud synchronization – Automatically sync notes across Windows, Mac, iPhone, iPad, Android devices, and the web through Microsoft OneDrive. 11. Integration with Microsoft 365 – Works seamlessly with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, and other Microsoft applications. 12. Templates – Use built-in templates for meeting notes, project planning, lesson plans, journals, and more. 13. Password protection – Protect sensitive sections of your notebook with a password. 14. Optical Character Recognition (OCR) – Extract and search text contained in images and scanned documents. 15. Checklists and task management – Create to-do lists, assign Outlook tasks, and track progress. 16. Offline access – Continue taking notes without an internet connection; changes sync automatically when you’re back online. 17. Cross-platform availability – Available on Windows, macOS, iOS, Android, and through any web browser. These features make Microsoft OneNote particularly useful for students (lecture notes and revision), professionals (meeting minutes and project planning), teachers (lesson planning), and researchers (collecting and organizing information from multiple sources). |

With the advancement of artificial intelligence, many tasks have become smoother, easier, and more secure. You just need to organize everything in a structured format so that whenever you come back, you can easily find what you're looking for. That's the beauty of modern technology. It helps us work smarter, stay organized, and save time. We're living in an era where intelligent tools make everyday tasks more efficient and accessible than ever before. |

I've used notebooks, Google Keep and OneNote before, but I always had the same problem. Everything ended up scattered. A few weeks ago I came across an app called RhemaNotes. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.rhemanotes.app It's built specifically for Christians, so instead of using a general notes app, you can keep your Bible study notes, sermon notes, prayer points and personal revelations together. You can also attach Bible verses to your notes, which I found really helpful. It's still relatively new, but I like the direction it's going. It might be worth checking out if you're looking for something dedicated to Bible study. |

None of the disciples had sermon notes nor do they attend church every Sunday! Who created all these in Christianity? |

OneNote is excellent. I use it for work. The only thing I found missing for my personal Bible study was that it isn't designed around Scripture. That's why I started looking for something more focused on Christian study. Different tools for different purposes, I guess. Terabyteck: |

I actually agree with part of what you're saying. The goal is not just to write notes. The goal is to understand God's Word and live by it. For me, notes simply help me remember what I've learnt so I can go back and study again like the Bereans did in Acts 17:11. There are messages I listened to years ago that make more sense to me today than they did then. Different things work for different people sha. 🙂 Dtruthspeaker: |

😂 I get your point. But sermon notes are not replacing the Bible. They're more like reminders of what stood out during a message or something God personally impressed on your heart. Even many pastors preach from notes, not because they don't know the Bible, but because they want to communicate clearly. Dtruthspeaker: |
| Re: How Do You Keep Your Sermon Notes After Church? by Studentcosmos(op): 10:07am On Jul 19 |
Very true. If the notes don't change the way we live, then we've missed the point. For me, the notes are just a way of reminding myself what God has been teaching me so I don't forget. femi4: |

I agree. Technology is just a tool. If it can help us stay organised and remember God's Word better, then I think it's something Christians can use wisely. Goldbw122: |

Studentcosmos:You couldn't show us the said notes?? |
| Re: How Do You Keep Your Sermon Notes After Church? by Dtruthspeaker: 10:47am On Jul 19 |
Studentcosmos:I understand what you mean however, when you noted them, what did you do with them? To what purpose did you note them? And it is interesting to see people still remember things they learnt in school even the ones that they are not using eg pie and circumference of a circle, without notes but the one that gives Life, even with notes, they forget. The Truth is that you people hold other things eg money, riches, cars, women, jobs more important than Life. And that is why God's matters are tertiary and even forgettable |

I learnt something from a leader in Deeper Life Church. There's Search the Scriptures booklet, which is like the Sunday school booklet We're expected to go through the booklet before the Sunday service, and write out questions you'll like to ask on the topic (if any). The booklet also has little space where one can write something So, rather than getting a different book for Sunday sermon, he writes the sermon in the search the scriptures topic for that Sunday... That way, when revising the topic for the next Sunday, he's able to also go through the main sermon that was preached Helps some of us that use any book we see to write sermon |

Studentcosmos:Writing notes during sermon is one thing, keeping them organized is not even an issue. The main goal is to practice what is being preached, and worshipping God in Truth! |

The best will be for you to keep the same items in multiple places such as notebooks, and at the same time transfer everything to online. So if one is missing, you can have access to the others. |

Studentcosmos:Definitely. Technology has two sides to it. You can use it for good, or you can use it for bad. The technology itself isn't the problem, it's how the user chooses to use it. Like any powerful tool, it can help people learn, create, solve problems, and improve their lives. At the same time, it can also be misused for harmful or unethical purposes. In the end, the responsibility lies with the user. Technology is only as good as the intentions of the person using it. |
