Niger Governor To Probe Defectors Following Mass Exit by 1vandragon(op): 8:10am On Jul 20
Niger State Governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago, has vowed to follow in the footsteps of President Bola Tinubu by probing former political appointees who defect from the All Progressives Congress (APC), following a wave of defections that hit the ruling party in the state after its primary elections.

Bago made the declaration on Sunday during an emergency stakeholders’ meeting at the Government House in Minna.

The meeting was convened to reconcile aggrieved APC members who lost out in the party’s consensus arrangements for the 2027 general elections.Campaigns & Elections

It was attended by most of the unsuccessful governorship, National Assembly and State Assembly aspirants, many of whom had expressed dissatisfaction with the outcome of the primaries. Some of the aggrieved aspirants had earlier met in Abuja to discuss their next political steps.Time & Calendars

The disagreements within the party later triggered the defection of several former commissioners, former local government chairmen, former councillors and other key political appointees who served under the immediate past administration.

The latest group of defectors was led by a former Chief of Staff to ex-Governor Abubakar Sani Bello, Alhaji Maikil Bmitosahi, who accused Governor Bago of running what he described as a one-man government.

Addressing party members, Bago appealed to those aggrieved by the primary election outcome to set aside their grievances and continue supporting the APC and his administration.

He commended the aspirants for their patience and understanding, assuring them that his administration remained open to accommodating party members in various positions while continuing to implement people-oriented policies for the development of the state.

The governor, however, warned those planning to leave the party against making public attacks on his administration.

According to him, “Those who want to leave the party should do so quietly without making noise or would be put where noisemakers are.”

Bago said he possessed files containing details of alleged misconduct by former political appointees but had chosen not to act on them in the interest of peace.

He said, “I have the files of all former appointees of the immediate past administration and their dirty deals, but I decided to keep quiet for peace to reign in the state.”

The governor added that he was prepared to follow President Tinubu’s approach in dealing with political opponents.

He said he will follow the footsteps of President Tinubu who has put noisemakers where they belong.

“I’m his son, my father cannot be ruthless and I will be quiet,” he said.

Bago also cautioned individuals using social media to spread what he described as false information against his government, urging them to make use of the Freedom of Information Act where necessary or face legal consequences.

National Vice Chairman of the APC (North Central), Mu’azu Bawa, and the Niger State APC Chairman, Musa Bobi, praised the governor’s leadership, saying it had strengthened the party in the state.Campaigns & Elections

Speaking on behalf of the House of Representatives aspirants who lost the primaries, Abdulrazak Jakadan Borgu reaffirmed their loyalty to the APC and pledged to work for the party’s victory in the 2027 general elections.

He said the aspirants had accepted the outcome of the primaries and remained committed to the unity and success of the party.

POLITICS NIGERIA reports that the Tinubu administration has faced repeated allegations from opposition parties and critics of using anti-corruption agencies to investigate and prosecute some high-profile former APC members and defectors, including Nasir El-Rufai and Abubakar Malami, while allegedly overlooking some serving APC figures facing corruption allegations.

Is this the beginning of the end for the worst group of rogue politicians in Nigeria huh

What has APC achieved of the many things they promised 11 years ago when Tinubu begged Buhari out of retirement to make Jonathan a one term president?

anonimi:
Petrol should never cost more than N70 per litre, says APC

January 19, 2015

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has described as mere tokenism the reduction of petrol price from N97 to N87 per litre, saying the petroleum product ordinarily should sell for N70.

On Sunday, the federal government announced the reduction of petrol price, citing the fall of global crude oil price.

But the APC through Lai Mohammed, its spokesman, on Monday accused the government of making a show out of deceit, saying “a 10.3 per cent slash in the price of petrol was a mere tokenism at a time the price of crude oil has crashed by about 60 per cent”.

It argued that the pump price of a litre of petrol should not be more than 70 Naira, alleging that at N87 per litre, the government was forcing Nigerians to subsidise the massive corruption in the oil sector by N17 for every litre of fuel.

You see, everybody knows what they are doing, the issue is that we have many religious and educational backgrounds that our understanding of immoral, retrogressive ideas and wrong things are different.
What I want to say is that Tinubus style of government has laid down and entrench bad and immoral democracy. Our society will take some times before it gets healed again

"I have details of their dirty deals but I'll keep quiet to let peace reign".

In essence, you'll only see the need to probe them if they eventually declare ambitions elsewhere that will challenge your interests.

And like Tinubu, you only intend to use that probe to checkmate their excesses and not for any positive effect on the overall wellbeing of your state.

See Nigerian democracy, mpa💀😭!

It's funny that the governor has the files of those with dirty dealings in the past administration, but he won't do anything as long as the are loyal to him and APC...so dey can continue doing dirty deals

As long as Nigeria continue to exist, I sincerely pity all Tinubu people, especially those from his region because what will happen to them in the nearest future, Abacha's case will be a child's play.

Anyway, most of his supporters are children who doesn't even know who was Sani Abacha and how he ruled Nigerians.

I laugh in Yoruba language.

Such audacity, such utter shamelessness.
So the governor by his words effectively confirmed that the reason why governors and others defected to APC had to do with threat to prosecute them for corruption?

What a very big shame and an indictment. So the likes of El Rufai are detained because they refused or refuse to bend to the leader?

“I have the files of all former appointees of the immediate past administration and their dirty deals, but I decided to keep quiet for peace to reign in the state.”

This is exactly what APC is all about; both at the federal and state levels. If you're with them, you're protected despite all your dirty deals, but once you leave them, the witch-hunt is on you.
Re: Niger Governor To Probe Defectors Following Mass Exit by AMINDA: 6:27pm On Jul 20
This one is tacitly beginning to campaign against Tinubu already. Make no mistakes, he knows exactly what he's doing. A lot of governors are also taking a cue from the NADECO democrat in going after critics and sending them to prison without trial.

Wasted efforts that should be put into sth vital for the progress of the state. Sm1 or groups decided to defect from your party to preferred party and you even vow to probe them and you don't care to probe those who defects to your party from other parties. Nigeria is a waste of time.

Let the election approach. The wave of defection from the apc will be likened to tsunami. They can't do that now to avoid punishment and removal from offices they're occupying. Only those whose conscience is dead would pretend as if all is well with Nigeria
