BATified2023:Stop spreading lies and misinformation. Obj did not withhold Lagos state funds. What was withheld was LG funds and that was rightly done because Tinubu illegally created 37 LGAs later renamed LCDAs in addition to the existing constitutionally recognized 20 LGAs. LG funds were given to governors then and FG held it so Tinubu will not illegally share the funds with 37 illegal LCDA chairmen he created. |

Sheuns:Don't mind him. The way these people cook up lies and present them as facts is terrible. Tinubu in fact was the one that organized the first meeting and railroaded the other governors into being deciieved after getting assurance that Lagos will be spared. From Chief Osoba's narratives, one could see that election results were already written before the election,so what could have prevented INEC and PDP from doing so with Lagos state if they wanted to. The withholding of local government funds is entirely a different matter. |

Knowing what we know about where his business interests are and where he chose to retire, it is difficult to justify the lack of significant federal projects in the South-West during his administration. If the North was where he believed deserved greater attention, why didn't he simply choose to retire there? Chief Olusegun Obasanjo is politically mischievous and calculating. He actively worked against some of Yorubaland's most illustrious sons and has always been uncomfortable with anyone whose influence could rival or surpass his own. Perhaps that explains why he has never commanded any real political structure in Ogun State. He has never been able to single-handedly produce even a local government chairman. Despite serving as President, he struggled to deliver his own polling unit, ward, or local government consistently. He also has a history of reshaping narratives to suit his position. A notable example is his continued denial of pursuing a third-term agenda, despite the overwhelming public record and widespread belief that such an effort was made. Trust him at your own peril as a Yoruba person. Adárà ni tá máa dára nílé. We know our own. He has consistently acted in ways many perceive to be contrary to Yoruba interests. So don't blame us when many Yorubas are neither fond of him nor take him seriously. Our views are shaped by what we've seen over the years. |

Thank you very much They have started crawling out one by one to dissociate themselves from the rebellion Ask them why did they scattered AD and afenifere? They used the instrumentality of the state that was bestowed to them in trust to scatter all the structures Today, SW as a region within the country would have been dragging developmental indicies with the European nations far ahead of the Asians. Now they said we should continue to endure and they are now struggling to disentangle themselves from the clear wreckage the co travellers has precipitated on the Yoruba nation It is indeed a paradise lost . overall90: |

humberjade:Why does he need to single-handedly produce a local government chairman or a governor? That a man chose not to be an emperor like Tinubu doesn’t make him less relevant. It shows he allows people to do their things themselves. This kind of mentality of yours is what led to many willingly giving themselves as slaves to Tinubu. Also who are the illustrious sons of Yoruba land that he worked against? |

For example, OBJ was asked if he will now build the lagos calabar coastal road as president. He bluntly said Nigeria cannot afford the project, that we will go bankrupt. Now Tinubu is doing the same road. Over 150 kilometers already done in 2 years! OBJ tried, he gave us GSM, invested $20 billion to build gas power plants, got us the biggest debt cancellation in history. But OBJ failed woefully with infrastructures and 3rd term. He gave the 140 km lagos ibadan road to his crony, Babalakin who didn't have the money to build ordinary 10 km of the road. OBJ tried, but Tinubu in 3 years has shown that he is a better leader. geoworldedu: |

lapintoz:This year alone, many people are dead because of starvation and you are talking about road. All the roads we have, has Tinubu maintained them? The answer is no. It's not about building roads that will eventually be abandoned. It's about saving the lives of Nigerians. Embezzlements of public funds are still ongoing and they are not tackling it, but it is one useless road they are building. Many youths are not empowered to create jobs for themselves and others, but it's the uncompleted road we are going to eat. I pity those who are gullible falling for an uncompleted road project that doesn't add value to the lives of the citizens. |

Predictor3:Exactly o. He is well accepted President by foreign countries. They love to come down to Nigeria when he was at the helms of affairs. If you're not well-informed on a topic, it's better to ask questions before making assertions. There's a difference between having the political influence to make something happen and having the political will to do so. It's not that he never tried, but the people of Ogun State simply have never trusted him to that extent. It's interesting that you're trying to portray OBJ in a positive light simply because he now criticises his successors. This is the same man who imposed his daughter on the people of Ogun State politically as a sitting President; the same man who privatized the Operation Feed the Nation initiative and acquired it himself, resulting in what is now Obasanjo Farms; the same man who relied on Maurice Iwu and the INEC of 2003, an election deeply flawed (sometimes results released before election day); the same man who pursued an unsuccessful third-term agenda and still denies it; a leader who rarely accepts responsibility for his own mistakes. His presidency was also marked by an unprecedented wave of unresolved political assassinations and the removal of elected governors through controversial impeachment processes. Need I continue? To answer your question directly: yes, he was antagonistic to the political aspirations of both Obafemi Awolowo and M.K.O. Abiola. |

| Re: How Obasanjo Deceived Me, AD Governors In 2003 - Ex-ogun Governor, Osoba by Sheuns(m): 12:35pm On Jul 24 |
humberjade:Obj did not impose his daughter on Ogun people as a sitting president. Iyabo has been a senator once and it was between 2007 and 2011. I never knew Obj was still president then. Also the people willingly voted her. That he refused to support Awo and Abiola ambitions doesn’t mean he’s against them. He has a choice to support whoever he wants to. You don’t have to tell him to support someone simply because they are from the same state or speak the same language. During Obj’s tenure as president, they were several Yorubas appointed by himself into his cabinet. If a governor was impeached, how’s that the problem of the president? Is he the one running the state house of assembly? |
| Re: How Obasanjo Deceived Me, AD Governors In 2003 - Ex-ogun Governor, Osoba by humberjade: 12:53pm On Jul 24 |
Sheuns:The man doesn't want any Yoruba man to be above him. Bossing people around is what he enjoys. Well, he had a hand in most of those impeachments. You're only being wise by half. One of his last acts in office was imposing his daughter as a senator and foisting the ailing Yar'Adua on the country. Little wonder his daughter's political career fizzled out shortly afterward, leading to her disappearing from the political scene for about 16 years, only to return arrogantly to harvest where she did not sow. |

humberjade:There's no greater and more accomplished personality than Obj in the entire southwest. History has been so generous to him and his life continues to reflect that testimony. Tinubu may try all he wants, but Obj bests him in every aspect. In fact, pairing Tinubu against Obj can as well be seen as a slight on Obj, if you factor in Tinubus dodgy history, and the numerous unfilled gaps in his life's story. |
| Re: How Obasanjo Deceived Me, AD Governors In 2003 - Ex-ogun Governor, Osoba by humberjade: 4:55pm On Jul 24 |
Svoboda:Nobody disputes those facts, but non of those facts dismiss who he is or the frail influence he still wields in Ogun politics. He is an elder statesman and a former President, but his words doesn't move a needle in Ogun politics, and does not erase the controversies and alleged wrongdoings of his time in office, including accusations made by his own sons. When Tinubu eventually leaves office, both his achievements and his shortcomings will likewise become part of his name and legacy. |

humberjade:Obj is an old man and has played his part. That his word doesn't move a needle in Ogun is subjective. It's like saying Gowons words don't move a needle in plateau. Obj clearly has no indictments and forfeited nothing to a foreign country. I am not also bothered by his personal life and relationships with his family. That's seperate from having a criminal record. |

Svoboda:You just keep weaving it around Tinubu. I didn't even mention Tinubu in my initial write up. The man, Obasanjo, is the topic here- his achievement as a representative of the Yoruba nation. I am talking about his influence in Ogun, and by extension, the South West since he left office. The annoying part is how he tries to rewrite history...paint himself as someone without any blemish. |
