So why didn't the IGP say it's only in the north since you claimed there are more guns in circulation over there. You spoke as though you are not in Nigeria realizing that the Nigeria police can abuse every order at their disposal. No doubt about the bolded but a culture of display of assault rifle in public, Nigerians are prohibited from owning, while Nigerian law enforcement and ordinary Nigerians look away, is ruining Nigeria.

We have to move into an age of doing the right things, to global best standards, at the right time.

Law enforcement must accost and neutralise any Nigerian carrying an assault rifle. The law is clear. Enforce it.

Ordinary Nigerians must also do their civic duty of reporting sighting and location of an assault rifle or pistol etc.

We want Nigeria to be like Canada but, from top to bottom, we aren't ready to act like Canadians.

Extra-judicial killing is wrong in any guise as it gives excuses to corrupt people in the police

Go and study your law to know mens rea? Once an unauthorized person hold a weapon of killing anybody your intentions is to kill whether or not you do it? No sensible person will make that statement. Offenders should be arrested and tried, not shot down. It's the would determine the fate of the offender. Except, they engage you or try to engage you in a gun battle. It's obvious you don't know the law. Was this not the same reason a police officer shot a man dead in Delta State?
