Vision101:Since the comparison is Average Oyibo vs Average Nigerian, the definition of Average doesn't matter. My comment remains valid for whatever criteria you use to define Average. |

$40 is not cheap. The last time I travelled, I paid around 15K for a night in a hotel and the place was very neat and comfortable. As long as the hotel was not built in the last 3-4 years, one should be able to get a decent hotel in the price range of 20-25K per night. In fact, anything more than that is expensive. |

AderonkeOlaniyi:When logical questions are asked the illogical resorts to abuse. Can what you call a poor Nigerian use a V6 car and live in a house of his own in a major city in Nigeria? |

1Alex:How did he end up marrying a Nigerian woman, worse of ,the one living in Nigeria? I thought white men don't marry Nigerian women as Nigerian women are the worst in the whole world. Surprising. |
| Re: Foreign Tourist Shocked After Reviewing A Surprisingly Nice $40 Hotel In Nigeria by Stephen0mozzy: 6:27pm On Jul 25 |
Vision101:The hotel price is already a cost of living metric. Mind you: 1. Our #5, #10, #20 are economically useless as they can't buy anything 2. The only thing #50 buys these days is sachet water and sweet. A kilo of chicken in Nigeria costs #7,500, means I'll have to work two days (18hr) on minimum wage to be able to afford one kilo of chicken. A kilo of chicken in the USA costs at most $10, means on mimum hourly wage, the Oyibo man only needs to work for 2hrs to be able to afford it. Meanwhile out "standard" of living is in the gutters. |

AderonkeOlaniyi:I wouldn't show you pictures. Guy if you live in Lagos I will be willing to let an apartment to you if you can meet the standards. I'm currently working in Aba but I can give you my lawyers number. Is not everyone that you really meet here that are your usual online warrior. Some can change your life. So tone down your gutter language. Life is a mystery. |

Of course, it is in ILE IFE Ogun, who goes to ILE IFE for anything? If it had been $40 in Monaco, Paris, The Riviera, The Canaries or Miami then it would have been interesting |

Vision101:Still not clear to you? OK, you can use average income. Find the average income of Oyibos & the Average income of Nigerians. $40 will be far more affordable to the average income of Oyibos than ₦55k to the average income of Nigerians. If you still don't get it, then forget it. Bye. 👋 |

Glimpsetv:I wonder why hotels are so expensive in the Southwest. I may understand why in Lagos but all these osun, Ogun, Ondo, Ekiti, etc I don't. I went to Abeokuta the other day and needed to lodge for three days. What they showed me as affordable hotel was a low key quest house and it goes for 14k. That type of guest house in Anambra is about 4k. The level of the hotel in in this very thread in anambra is not more than 20k or 25k at most. |

Pootle:He had been to other west African countries and was yet to encounter trains. Seems many of them don't even have. That's why he was surprised. He explained himself before you go begin imply say he was trying to be racist or something. |

MrSly:When last were you at the said 'guest house' in Anambra?? Because there is no N4k hotel anywhere in Nigeria at this present time Pre-Tinupoo, very possible (and with lots of bedbugs and rats inside the room with you)...but not today with one litre of fuel at N1,300. |

AderonkeOlaniyi:what's a person on Minimum wage doing in such hotel. The standard of that hotel is meant for a middle class, and any middle class in Nigeria can easily afford that price. Nigeria is cheap |
