Bus Preaching Distracts Drivers, Can Lead To Breach Of Peace – MURIC Backs FRSC by adenigga(op): 6:07am On Jul 26
Muslim Rights Concern, MURIC, has declared that preaching inside commercial vehicles can distract drivers and may also lead to breach of public peace.

MURIC made declaration while reacting to the proposed anti-bus preaching bill initiated by Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC.

The FRSC had introduced a bill aimed at banning preaching and hawking inside commercial vehicles.

MURIC in a statement signed by its Executive Director, Professor Ishaq Akintola, described the proposed legislation which is currently at the National Assembly as a step in a right direction.

He said that the organisation is in total support of the proposed bill.

Akintola in the statement made available to DAILY POST on Saturday, explained that the proposed bill when it becomes law will bring decorum inside commercial vehicles.

He said that MURIC is supporting FRSC for initiating the bill based on two reasons – noting that bus preaching can distract drivers thereby leading to road accidents, and also constitutes conduct likely to cause breach of public peace.

Akintola enjoined members of the National Assembly to attend to the bill to ensure that it becomes law as soon as possible.

“This is a step in the right direction. With emphasis on bus preaching, we commend FRSC for this proactiveness. The whole idea is not only visionary but also precautionary and constructive. Preaching inside the bus is most uncivilized and discourteous.

‎
“We support the FRSC bill for two main reasons. Bus preaching distracts drivers thereby leading to accidents with the attendant deaths and injuries.

“Secondly, bus preaching constitutes conduct likely to cause breach of public peace. Our lawmakers need to urgently attend to the FRSC bill in view of the high proliferation of road crashes in the country,” parts of the statement read.

Shameless mullah with no dignity..

Shehu Mohammed, your plan with some of your fellow Islamist like this Muric man is dead on arrival..

You Islamists don’t have problem with Muslims blocking roads in the name of prayers, but want to hide under nonsense law to stop body of Christ from growing,,

When I warn some ignorant Christians about Islamization agenda, some of them think the government will point a gun at you instantly and force you to be a Muslim, No. It’s about creating policies and laws they will make Christians feel caged..

Between blocking our road to pray which is common with Nigerian Muslims, and praying and preaching inside a vehicle, which one is a more threat to our society ?

Why is it that when these people talk, they are always talking with a tone that threatens peace?

I mean, if the dude stopped at distract drivers, that’s fine. But why must he move on to talk about “breach of public peace?”

On a more serious note: if calabash break between Christians and Muslims in this country, do the Muslims think they can handle it? Having the control of government, and a few pockets of militias like Boko Haram, Lakurawa, ISWAP, etc. is not a guarantee of success in such cases. Go and ask Iran and Israel. In fact, ask northern Sudan and Souther Sudan. The north controlled resort es, governments, militias, and Arab countries support but yet couldn’t stop the South from defeating them and declaring their own country.

We need to chill.
These rhetorics favors no one.

Allahu Akbar abi na Allahu Akboom has done more damage than preaching in buses

Even Muslims in a public place flee when they hear those two words

Say those words in public and watch people run for safety cheesy

It’s not enough to call him that.

Why are you not concerned with the blocking of roads to do Jumma prayers weekly? Don’t you find that more important than preaching in public transport vehicles huh

It’s not about distraction but tolerance

Stop imposing your religion on others

I want to ride a bus in peace not forced to a sermon

This guy just had to talk. He sha wants to remain relevant. I remember this guy back in the days. We used to be neighbours back then. This dude this dude would bring his bus with loud speakers on the road, very early in the morning for that matter, and would be blasting continous Islamic incantation. He did this for as long as I can remember. It was very irritating and annoying. And yet , see him now talking against public preaching. Smh...🙄

Bus drivers should have a sticker in their vehicles allowing or prohibiting preaching. If I had one I would write 'Preaching is Allowed on this Bus'.

How can the government ban them when former AD politician and agba lawyer Falana will hypocritically defend their right of freedom to assemble, associate and sell their products anywhere in Nigeria?

Falana Faults Oyo On NURTW Proscription Court Judgment

October 27, 2025

Human rights lawyer and counsel to the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Mrs Funmi Falana, has faulted the Oyo State Government for allegedly misrepresenting and disobeying a Court of Appeal judgement which declared the proscription and suspension of the union’s activities in the state as illegal.

Falana, in a letter addressed to the Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Barrister Abiodun Aikomo, accused him of misinterpreting the appellate court’s ruling, warning that continued disobedience could lead to contempt proceedings.

The letter, which was copied to the Oyo State Commissioner of Police and the State Director of the Department of State Services (DSS), warned that refusal to comply with the judgement may attract disciplinary action before the Legal Practitioners Disciplinary Committee.

According to Falana, the Court of Appeal in its judgement in Suit No. CA/IB/263/2022 – National Union of Road Transport Workers v. Governor of Oyo State & 3 Ors., nullified the suspension imposed by Governor Seyi Makinde on the union’s operations, including the collection of check-off dues at motor parks and garages across the state.

Compare and contrast with the same thing in Tinubu’s Lagos State.

powerfulguy:
The Lagos State Government has been watching closely events in the National Union of Road Transport Workers Union (NURTW). There have been claims and counter claims over the control of the union.

The Government has a duty to ensure the safety of lives and property of all Lagosians and visitors. Therefore, there is an urgent need to douse the unnecessary tension generated by the leadership tussle in the NURTW and protect the citizenry from the likely fallout of the situation.

After considering the provisions of the law, the Government hereby suspends the activities of NURTW, which must cease to operate in all parks and garages in Lagos State. The Government will set up a Committee to immediately take control of the parks and garages. Members of the committee will be key stakeholders

AND the funny thing is, non of the christain senators or house of rep. members will not see anything wrong with this bill, they will all keep quiet. they will not institute another bill banning blocking of public roads on fridays by muslims
Re: Bus Preaching Distracts Drivers, Can Lead To Breach Of Peace – MURIC Backs FRSC by verifiablefacts: 6:33am On Jul 26
How can someone be shouting in a bus that, if you don't want, you can't run away from because you are in a bus. At every moment you want to preach, on the streets, knocking people doors, pamphlets.
Preach with a decorum, give room for an option to or not to listen, on a bus there is no option.

They should ban all those churches creating traffic on Ibadan express way.
All those churches creating traffic in the name of worship should all be banned.
Any religious organization disturbing public peace with noise, traffic and other nuisance should be banned.
