Something that has be done here in Nigeria and nothing will happen. I heard she is very wealthy. Almost close to a billionaire
If she only dispensed medicine legally, then she cannot be that wealthy because running a pharmacy overseas is not like selling akara by the roadside. So, her wealth must have come from illegal dispensing.

Some reasons pharmacies may struggle financially oeverseas include:

Rising operating costs, such as rent, wages, insurance, and regulatory compliance.
Competition from large chains, online pharmacies, and mail-order services.
Low profit margins on prescription medications due to government or insurer reimbursement rates.
Declining reimbursement from insurers or national health systems in some countries.

Forfeiture with freedom does not happen like that in legal matters.

You only forfeit when the crime is not directly tied to you. It’s like person A who is a criminal kept stolen money to person B. When the court finds grounds that person B is not a part of the crime, a competent court of law will execute forfeiture of those assets.

Every fraudster would have done same if it guarantees freedom!
Is the looting of Lagos State money also indirectly tied to its landlord and master strategist? The a-looter progressive who has grown the state budget 100 times over 27 years to N4.2 trillion without matching improvements in government services and public utilities like water supply, to the people who bear the burden of taxes, levies, tolls, rates, fines, fees etc for the IGR increase huh

Abi why else is he not just enjoying freedom instead of being executed like the Chinese do for corruption, rather he is the god of Lagos and Nigerian politicians and people?

Why did you have to bring up this stuff about selling akara when you are discussing about pharmaceuticals and drugs?

What are you trying to imply here huh

This is the major problem with every Nigerian: greed, quick money, cutting corners!!!
It's in our DNA except you consciously fight it

How can you patiently build a highly successful biz and still want to cut corners in a clime where the law works!?

What is there to learn from someone who doesn’t know how Tinubu is indirectly stealing money from Lagosians since 1999 instead of doing a tiny fraction of what progressive UPN governor Jakande did in four years before Buhari jailed him?

Indeed our people are untrainable Stockholm Syndrome sufferers. I agree with you on that. Happy now huh

Splashme:
The first civilian governor of Lagos State, Alhaji Lateef Jakande, on Tuesday, said that the cancellation of the Lagos metroline project in 1985 was a major mistake and disservice to many Nigerians.

Jakande spoke in Lagos during the launch of a book which chronicled his life in politics and journalism.

The book, entitled, ‘Jakande: Leadership in Action’ is written by Dr. Bola Olaosebikan, who told the audience at the event that the All Progressives Congress presidential candidate, Maj. Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), was not responsible for the cancellation of the project.

Jakande said, “Reflecting on the metroline project, I think it is a major disservice to many Nigerians. Imagine how many people would have benefitted. It would have made life easier and changed the face of transport in Lagos. Whoever cancelled it or gave the advice towards its cancellation didn’t do right.”

The former governor asked Nigerians not to vote for unserious leaders in the coming polls, saying the elections presented Nigerians with a good opportunity that should not be squandered.

Expressing the hope that Nigeria would soon overcome its developmental challenges, Jakande said hope would be actualised faster if credible people emerged as leaders in the next dispensation.

He said, “This book comes at a very auspicious time in Nigeria’s history as we need leaders who can act. We need leaders who would not compromise the standards of good governance. God has blessed this nation the most in Africa, although we have not reached where we should be; with the right leaders, Nigeria would overcome its challenges.”

WHO SAYS 4 YEARS IN OFFICE IS NOT ENOUGH FOR MEANINGFUL ACHIEVEMENTS?

IT'S A FACT THAT 90% OF GOVERNORS IN NIGERIA SINCE 1999 WITH REVENUES AT THEIR DISPOSAL CANNOT BOAST OF A QUARTER OF THESE ACHIEVEMENTS EVEN WITHIN THEIR EIGHT YEARS IN OFFICE.

Her first mistake is dispensing too much, her second mistake is to go to trial thinking she can win.
Only very few can win the feds in Federal court and only people like Trump can get away with such crimes.
She black, she's an immigrant from Nigeria, she should have accepted a plea deal and serve couple of years. Now she will receive at least 8 years in Federal Prison.
I know some Nigerians that have faced the same charges.
One accepted a deal and only served 20 months, the other went to trial because his pastor in Nigeria promised him that he will win.
He lost and his now serving 9 years in Federal pen.

Do you think she would have been made to forfeit some money for her freedom, like Tinubu did in Chicago, according to his documentary filmmaker huh
You guys have been fed false information but because of politics some of you are too.lazy to find out the facts yourself.
In the US, you cannot avoid prison just through forfeiture.
It's NEVER done.
Tinubu was never charged with any drug crime.
If people can walk way by forfeiture, half of the people in US prisons will be walking freely right now.

In any drug case, once you are convicted, you will by force forfeit any gains and proceeds from the crime.
So asking for forfeiture is not even applicable. You will be forced by the court to forfeit anything that the govt can trace as a proceed from the drug crime. Whether you agree or not, you will forfeit if you are convicted.
Even a low level street drug pedaling guy losses his car and still go to jail.
The US DOESN'T ALLOW ANYONE TO WALK FREE FROM A DRUG CRIME BY MERE FORFITURE.
Nigerians have been bamboozled with false narratives.
People with millions hiding away are doing 20 , 30, 40 years in prison for drug crime, you think they won't forfeit and walk free if it's possible?

What greed can cause. She has a pharmacy but it isn't enough for her. It's doing shady business behind closed doors that would satisfy her?

Now she has thrown it all away, lost everything and faces time on jail.

Is this one the fault of tinubu again? Corruption has eaten deep into the minds of many Nigerians. Before you blame tinubu, take a good look at yourself. She had to export her evil to the United States.. she definitely won't escape judgement. This is not Nigeria where you can contact godfathers to thwart the case.

Ibuprofen is 400mg which is the right dosage for an adult with moderate inflammation. That oxycodone 30mg is a lot of times more powerful than ibuprofen 400mg. Take for example Diclofenac potassium 100mg which is also a more powerful drug than ibuprofen 400mg for inflammation even though they belong to the same class. Taking too much diclofenac is even a danger as it raises blood pressure and also triggers stomach ulcers. It's not about the milligrams only. Medical practitioners understand this better

Right. Nigeria is not a normal country. When the government shut down a market selling illicit drugs. Guess who was pleading that it should be reopened.
- It's not only stupid but dangerous to close a whole market millions of people rely on in the name of fighting illicit medicine dealers. I bet neither you nor any member of your family has ever been sick in a country with no healthcare system like Nigeria.

- Many of you are the reason Nigeria has no hope in hell of ever becoming a developed country.

Nigerian pharmacist convicted for illegally dispensing over 300,000 oxycodone pills in US

A federal jury in the Southern District of Florida, United States (U.S) on Wednesday, July 22, convicted a Florida-based Nigerian pharmacist and pharmacy owner for illegally dispensing more than 300,000 oxycodone 30mg pills to pharmacy patrons who had no medical need for the drug.

According to court documents and evidence presented during the trial, 60-year-old Olushola Yusuf dispensed oxycodone to nearly all customers who visited her pharmacy.

Yusuf charged customers about 10 times the typical cost of the drug and required cash payments for the medication.

In total, Yusuf dispensed at least 335,351 pills of oxycodone 30mg during the conspiracy.

Oxycodone 30mg is the maximum strength available of the drug and is both sought after and potentially dangerous due to its potency.

It is typically prescribed to seriously ill patients, such as those suffering from chronic cancer pain or traumatic injuries.

Yusuf owned and operated two pharmacies: Boots LLC d/b/a Striderite (Boots) in Margate, Florida, and Chans Pharmacy Plus, Inc. (Chans) in Pembroke Pines, Florida.

Yusuf distributed oxycodone 30mg pills through these pharmacies.

Customers drove long distances across Florida to have Yusuf fill prescriptions they could not get filled at any other pharmacy.

Some customers paid as much as $1,000 a month in cash to Yusuf for the drugs.

Some customers were drug dealers who picked up oxycodone pills on behalf of dozens of patients at a time who were not present.

According to witnesses at trial, Yusuf kept the doors to her pharmacies locked during business hours, directing employees only to open the door for certain identified customers.

Yusuf continued to dispense the oxycodone in this way even after repeated warnings from her employees and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) about the dangers of her pharmacy operations.

The jury convicted Yusuf of conspiracy to distribute drugs illegally and five counts of illegal drug distribution.

Yusuf’s co-defendant, Saman Gimenez, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute drugs illegally and is scheduled to be sentenced in October of this year.

Yusuf faces a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison for each count.

A sentencing hearing will occur on October 14, 2026.

United State (U.S) attorney, Jason Reding Quiñones, for the Southern District of Florida, said, ” Olushola Yusuf did not simply ignore red flags. She built her business around them.

“She knowingly flooded South Florida communities with more than 335,000 high-dose oxycodone pills, even after her employees and the DEA warned her about the dangers of her conduct. Yusuf charged extraordinary cash prices, served drug dealers and customers who travelled long distances, and put profit ahead of patients, public safety, and her responsibilities as a pharmacist. Yesterday (Tuesday), a federal jury held her accountable.”

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) co-deputy director Christopher Raia, said, “By distributing dangerous and highly addictive narcotics, the defendant demonstrated a clear disregard for their community and endangered countless residents who should have been able to trust their pharmacist.

“The opioid epidemic continues to plague our nation, which is why the FBI, along with our partners, will continue to hold the criminals poisoning our communities with these drugs accountable.”
