How did they get the firearms? You don't get the central point which is that no nation works using criminality to fight criminality.

You should own guns legally in Nigeria after obtaining a gun licence. Not obtain one illegally for the sake of self-protection. That is a crime.

What should obtain, as best global practice, is that every and anyone seen with an illegal firearm in public, like an assault rifle, must be tackled and neutralised even.

Be it a criminal or ordinary Nigerian seeking self-protection. I can agree with you that some Nigerians may be moved to seek weapons to defend themselves buying guns illegally.

Yet, what must happen is a clear policy to ensure illegal ownership of a gun by anyone is a serious crime to be tackled very seriously and immediately.

That is what Disu is trying to do and he is right with this policy because we must make it a serious offence for anyone to be seen with illegal firearms. Anyone at all. It is the way to curb insecurity.

Nigeria needs sanity and strict enforcement of laws. Our issue is that we are a people who bend rules yet expect Nigeria to become a developed nation.

Look at the core North where bandits and terrorist move around, celebrated, with guns and weapons they should not have.

Yet we think insecurity can end? It is not that way in any serious nation of the world.

The executive order does not imply for police officers to shoot at anyone with firearms illegally but to respond to firearms threat.

Now carrying a weapon alone doesn't fit the scenario. You have to know the limit of the police powers because what you're ignorantly conversing for is that citizens can be executed summarily if weapons are found in the booth of their cars or belongings.

Trust me that's not what the executive order is conversing because that will go against the constitution.
