motayoayinde:The first one Israel dealt with Soviet (Russian) forces in direct air combat primarily through a highly calculated, legendary aerial ambush known as Operation Rimon 20 During the War of Attrition in 1970, Egypt relied heavily on the Soviet Union, which deployed its own advanced MiG-21 fighter squadrons and surface-to-air missiles to challenge Israeli air superiority. After Soviet pilots successfully intercepted and damaged Israeli aircraft, Israel's leadership decided to stop avoiding the superpower and aggressively push back. On July 30, 1970, the Israeli Air Force (IAF) executed a tactical trap west of the Suez Canal: Four Israeli Mirage III jets flew in a tight, slow formation. They intentionally mimicked the radar signature of a defenseless, routine reconnaissance flight. Believing they had an easy target, Soviet controllers scrambled 24 MiG-21 fighters to intercept them. Hidden out of radar view at ultra-low altitudes were clusters of heavily armed Israeli F-4 Phantoms and additional Mirage IIIs. As the Soviet jets closed in on the "helpless" Mirages, the hidden Israeli fighters zoomed upward, surrounding the unsuspecting Soviet pilots. In a chaotic, massive dogfight lasting less than four minutes, Israel shot down 5 Soviet MiG-21s with zero Israeli losses. The Aftermath Both sides quickly worked to keep the clash quiet. The Soviet Union covered up the incident to avoid global embarrassment, while Israel did not want to provoke a full-scale war with a global superpower. However, the battle successfully restored Israel’s regional air deterrence, and within days, a U.S.-brokered ceasefire was signed to halt the War of Attrition The Second one On June 9, 1982, during the First Lebanon War, the Israeli Air Force (IAF) executed Operation Mole Cricket 19 (en.wikipedia.org). It was a historic engagement that completely dismantled a massive, state-of-the-art Soviet surface-to-air missile (SAM) network deployed by Syria in Lebanon's Beqaa Valley. The operation became a watershed moment in military history, often referred to as the "Beqaa Valley Turkey Shoot". It was the first time a Western-equipped air force successfully destroyed a dense, Soviet-built air defense umbrella without using ground troops. The operation became a watershed moment in military history, often referred to as the "Beqaa Valley Turkey Shoot". It was the first time a Western-equipped air force successfully destroyed a dense, Soviet-built air defense umbrella without using ground troops. During the 1973 Yom Kippur War, Soviet-supplied mobile SA-6 missile batteries had inflicted severe losses on Israeli jets. To defeat them in 1982, Israel developed a revolutionary, high-tech tactical "kill chain" that rendered Soviet doctrine obsolete in real-time. Israel launched small, unmanned Remotely Piloted Vehicles (RPVs) like the IAI Scout (en.wikipedia.org) and Tadiran Mastiff over the valley. These early drones broadcasted radar signatures that perfectly mimicked full-sized Israeli fighter jets. Deceived by the drones, Syrian operators activated their Soviet-built tracking radars and fired their missiles. This instantly exposed the exact GPS-like coordinates and radar frequencies of the hidden SAM batteries to orbiting Israeli aircraft. The moment the radars turned on, Israeli F-4E Phantoms fired AGM-45 Shrike and AGM-78 Standard anti-radiation missiles. These missiles locked onto the Syrian radar waves, flying directly down the beams to blow up the radar control cabins, leaving the missile launchers completely blind. Concurrently, Israeli Boeing 707 electronic warfare aircraft flooded Syrian communication networks with static. Syrian commanders on the ground could no longer talk to their pilots or guide their remaining missiles. With the ground-based Soviet missile shield completely shattered in under two hours, Syria scrambled nearly 100 MiG-21 and MiG-23 fighters to defend the valley. What followed was one of the largest jet-era dogfights in history. Guided flawlessly from above by E-2C Hawkeye airborne early warning planes, Israeli F-15 Eagles and F-16 Fighting Falcons held total situational awareness. Blinded by Israeli jammers and unable to receive ground instructions, Syrian MiG pilots famously began flying in confused circles. Israel destroyed 29 out of 30 Soviet-built SAM batteries and shot down more than 80 Syrian fighter jets.Israeli Losses: Zero jets were lost in air-to-air combat. Operation Mole Cricket 19 sent shockwaves through Moscow. For decades, Soviet military doctrine relied on the theory that Western air forces could not pierce their heavy missile layers. Seeing their crown-jewel military technology dismantled seamlessly in less than two hours forced Soviet leadership to recognize they were losing the technological race against the West. Military historians later noted that this staggering failure shook Moscow's confidence so deeply that it served as an unexpected catalyst for glasnost (political openness) and the eventual restructuring of the Soviet defense sector. |

Princedapace:It’s amazing and baffling at the same time how you lots believe the WW3 will be fought all because of Iran😂😂 So you genuinely think that the Buddhist Chinese people will abandon their booming economy and beautiful cities to fight not on behalf of “better people” but some Muslim mullahs in the Middle East? Amazing!😂 |

UrVillageChief:U really think WW3 will be like the previous wars? It has started already bro. North Korea is fighting with Russia vs Ukrain plus almost all European countries, US. Israel and US with some other countries fighting Iran who gets intel from China and Russia.. WW3 has started already baba, it will be economic warfare and we are already feeling the hit here with fuel over 1300 naira. As it continues, fuel will hit 2k. That is why it is called world war becus countries will be affected directly or indirectly. |

Princedapace:Then the right description should be “cold” war and not the world war. One thing is certain, no country is risking its soldiers lives, beautiful cities and booming economy all because of some Muslims in faraway Middle East and if you think a Buddhist state would make such a big sacrifice for a highly conservative and hardline Muslim nation, then all I can do is to laugh. |

UrVillageChief:Some of u can be funny.. U think war is like old generation war? These days it is fougt with AI and drones.. And countries are already getting involved. U think this war starts and ends with Iran and US? There is a strategy here to ensure the US gets involved more and more, limiting her interests in Ukrain. And russia paying back by providing Iran with intel. In Russia and Ukrain, soldiers across multiple countries are already involved, k#lled, the modern war now among super powers wont necessarily mean they bomb their cities, super powers will fight in another neutral ground. That is what is already happening.. The Ukrain war with Russia is indirectly US, EA (NATO) war vas Russia with North Korea and China. These countries will rarely fight in their home ground, but will fight, lose soldiers, lose weapons, lose money. And what makes it global war is that the effect would be felt across the globe. We are already feeling it in Nigeria with fuel price which is tied to everything we have in Nigeria. |
| Re: Ukrainian Attack On Vessel In Caspian Sea Killed Sailor - Iran Foreign Ministry by UrVillageChief: 1:47pm On Jul 27 |
Princedapace:Dear keyboard war analyst, any war that requires these powerful countries to be fighting each other using proxies is called “Cold War” The likelihood of them facing each other/one another is almost zero and the likelihood of them fighting one another all because of Iran (I.e world war) is zero because they all know the danger and Iran isn’t worth it because it has zero strategic benefits and this is also the reason why we can’t afford letting unstable countries have nukes at this critical period when the world should be gearing towards denuclearization. |
