Ugandan Pastor Bernard Mulongo Killed After Christian-Muslim Debate by maiiilooo(op): 12:22pm On Jul 27
Pastor killed hours after participating in Christian-Muslim debate, imam among suspects

*Pastor Bernard Mulongo took part in a Christian-Muslim dialogue before appearing on a local radio programme

*Two Muslim women reportedly converted to Christianity during the debate, a development that few expected

*Mulongo was found dead with multiple injuries after attackers on motorcycles blocked his path

A 25-year-old pastor was allegedly killed hours after participating in an interfaith religious debate, with investigators reportedly treating one of the event's participants as a key suspect.

Pastor Bernard Mulongo of New Restoration Church of Christ attended an open-air Christian-Muslim dialogue in Butebo District before joining a local radio programme to continue the discussion.

Threats After the Debate

Fellow pastor David Omala said the atmosphere around the debate grew volatile after two Muslim women publicly converted to Christianity in the course of the proceedings.

According to the Christian Post, Omala alleged that one of the Muslim participants became visibly angry following the event.

The imam reportedly accused Pastor Mulongo of misleading Muslims and of using the Quran to draw people towards Christianity.

Mulongo had travelled to Mbale specifically for the religious event, and he believes the hostility that followed both the debate and the radio appearance may have played a role in what unfolded that night.

Attack on the Road to Accommodation

The deceased pastor's friend, Robert Mukisa, shared that the two were riding together on a motorcycle towards their accommodation when a group of men on motorcycles cut off their path in Jami village, roughly nine miles from Mbale.
Mukisa said one of the attackers accused the pastor of drawing people away from Islam. Mukisa fled the scene and immediately alerted police.

When officers and church leaders reached the location, Pastor Mulongo was found dead, bearing multiple injuries to his head, chest, back and hand.

His body was transferred to Mbale City Mortuary for a postmortem examination before being released to his family for burial in Butebo District.

Suspect Reportedly on the Run

Sources familiar with the investigation say the imam is among those under investigation and has allegedly gone into hiding.

Police launched an investigation, but no arrests had been announced at the time reports on the incident were published.

The constitution protects freedom of religion, including the right to change one's faith and to practise religious beliefs openly.

Mulongo's death has renewed concerns about the safety of faith leaders engaged in interfaith outreach and the broader climate of religious tolerance in the region.

Why arguing publicly with Muslims nah?😟
If Islam truly has what to convince their listeners would they have resulted to violence?

"The imam reportedly accused Pastor Mulongo of misleading Muslims and of using the Quran to draw people towards Christianity."

Any Muslim who truly reads the Quran - the translated version and seek to understand it, not just recitation of the Arabic version they don't understand - will leave the religion.

Muslims don't want real and constructive discussions about their book or religion, they will resort to anger and violence.

It's a debate. One can't rule out arguement.
However, it was meant to be a peaceful debate with a fair moderator I suppose.
I didn't read where the Pastor initiated a fight.

All what you said is now meaningless, bc it seems you don't understand the meaning of the word DEBATE.
He countered them with the Quran itself.

Islamists hate it when others point out even the glaring truths of Islam as recorded in their Quran and Hadiths. 😒😒

This man's death was not in vain. He seems to have argued his point well enough to cause fear within the imam and his fellow Islamists, leading to the barbaric response. 😒😒

The biggest threat to Islam is commonsense...

The moment you take time to reflect on the Quran with your brain... You automatically become a threat to it and it becomes a threat to you...

They always start the debate misquoting the scripture and calling it all lies!
The plan is to lure you from your support base(the Bible) and use home advantage to win any debate!

But the moment they realize you're also well versed in their Quran and all the facts hidden in Arabic language... You've just succeeded in taken the winds off their inglorious sails!
That's when they'll resolt to their default backup - Violence!

The lesson learnt is very clear. The religion of tolerance and peace has proved other wise. It is nothing but a religion of violence as consistently shown in their actions

A religion of peace will never welcome unhealthy debate that could annoy the other person!😟

Imagine a world without Islam.
Or a word where Islam was still under the control of Turkey.

The only things good today about that religion is because of the Ottomans who refined it by studying Greek and Christian cultures.

The Arab desert dwellers and their brothers in the Sahel are among the most violent, most unreasonable group you will find anywhere. This is because they live in zones with little resources and have to constantly fight to survive.

They managed to corrupt unexposed Sub Saharan Africa with this crude version of Islam which has now officially recked the continent.

Remember these two Yoruba guys in London? Have you ever heard of a Yoruba Christian who killed for religion?

Whenever you confront them, they will ask you to read the Koran and find out the truth. What truth? We see the 'truth' in you already.

P.S. I was almost a victim of this in Qatar myself. Arguing with an Indian engineer who was also an Alfa. I thought he was reasonable until I started noticing changes in his tone as the conversation got on. I quickly stopped

Jesus didn't send his disciples to go out ARGUING or DEBATING {Titus 3:9} with intolerant religionists rather what he said is this:

Wherever you enter into a house, say first: ‘May this house have peace.’ And if a friend of peace is there, your peace will rest upon him. But if there is not, it will return to you. Luke 10:5-6

So there is no reason debating Muslims if anyone has something worthwhile to preach or teach about his religion let him or her go out there and talk to whoever will listen.
Re: Ugandan Pastor Bernard Mulongo Killed After Christian-Muslim Debate by chimex38: 8:14am On Aug 01
Remember the Pastor was invited from far away.
He didn't just force himself preaching to town of less-receptive people.

Debate could serve as a means to convert souls or at the very least enlighten debators on the perspective of the other.

There were certainly those who didn't convert but ponder on the outcomes yet would not have supported the killing of the Pastor.

So there were open minded Muslims in their midst.

Somehow we all missed the part where the Pastor succeeded in converting two Muslim women during the debate before he was killed.
He fought and died defending Christ and produced two fruits(converts) in the process.
