Rangers International Choose Remo Stars Stadium For 2026/27 CAFCL Home Games by solbase10(op): 11:24am On Jul 29
Rangers International will play their preliminary-round home matches in the 2026/2027 CAF Champions League at the Remo Stars Stadium, Ikene, Ogun State, Completesports.com can exclusively report.

The Flying Antelopes, who are the 2025/2026 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) champions, will be making their 11th appearance in Africa’s premier interclub competition during the 2026/2027 season.

Why Rangers International Chose Remo Stars Stadium

However, ongoing renovation work at their home ground, The Cathedral — Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu — has forced the nine-time Nigerian champions to seek an alternative venue for their continental home fixtures.

In 2024, Rangers International played their preliminary-round home matches against U.S. Zilimadjou and Sagrada Esperança at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium, Uyo.

The ‘Nest of Champions’, as the Godswill Akpabio Stadium is nicknamed, is CAF-approved, while the Remo Stars Stadium currently has provisional approval from the continental governing body.

Club Confirms Tentative Venue For Continental Campaign

On Tuesday, 28 July 2026, Rangers General Manager, Barrister Amobi Ezeaku, informed Completesports.com that the club had adopted the Remo Stars Stadium as their tentative home ground for the competition.

“Our home matches in the 2026/2027 CAF Champions League will be tentatively played at the Remo Stars Stadium, Ikene,” Amobi said when asked about Rangers International’s home venue for the CAF interclub competition following the ongoing renovation work at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu

Shooting stars too will not be using Lekan Salami stadium for their CAF confederation cup games, they'll also be using Remo stadium in ikenne. It's very sad that almost all our local league stadiums are below CAF standards. Majority of their fans won't have the privilege to travel and watch them play continental games live. My prayer is that NPFL clubs get financially successful enough to be able to upgrade their stadium and sign quality players.

This is why it is good to have standard facilities all around the country. Now both teams will put much pressure on Remo infrastructural facilities.

Is it not strange that newborn baby Remo Stars has a CAF certified stadium in small Ikenne while Rangers and Shooting don't have in big cities of Enugu and Ibadan respectively.

Do you think that is because Remo Stars is a private, for profit club unlike the dinosaurs run by governments?

Is it a stark reminder of how deregulation and privatisation policies laid the foundation for PDP's 16 years of prosperity, peace and security with cheap petrol, cheap dollars, low unemployment, less debt burden, less tax burden etc huh

Remo will make good money from the government owned clubs that failed to upgrade their stadiums.

Does Nigeria need stadiums more than it needs well paid professional teachers to make education free for all children?

Does Nigeria need world class stadiums more than it needs pipe borne water supply to all homes?

Do you know what MISPLACED priority looks like huh

That's why oyinbo leagues are so much better. They are run as private, for profit businesses.

Do you think enough of us will ever understand that in Nigeria to make it happen in football like it has happened with Nollywood and Afrobeat music- exponential, international growth without government ownership/control?

Neo-black Problem: Must Blacks Be Ruled by Whites in Order to Prosper?

In short, the neo-black dilemma may be framed as follows: is it better to live under white rule without political dignity but with basic life-sustaining standards for many;

or to live under black rule with illusory political dignity and without basic life- sustaining standards for the majority?

The path forward for Africa lies in cultivating higher and adequate levels of personal and communal agential integrity as well as full personal responsibility and productivity. Not to mention creativity (including epistemic creativity), productive justice (such as merit and freedom), harmony and reconciliation at local and international levels, and a proper domestication of capitalism and other related values and institutions.

Africa must stop wasting her time on dreams of socialism because it is a system of wealth distribution primarily. Whereas, capitalism is a system of wealth creation primarily, and wealth has to be produced before it can be distributed.

Hahaha 😂, all your submissions above is partly the reason that virtually all infrastructures in Nigeria is at comtose, but you forgot to include CORRUPTION AND EGUNJE which is the bane of the problems in Nigeria, secondly all the grants from FIFA , who is swallowing the money oooooooo, because some of those grants Plus the useless yearly budget from sports ministry is enough to address the issue, Kill corruption and you have a working country angry

Ibadan has two stadiums which are Liberty stadium used during the 1999 under 20 world cup and the Lekan Salami stadium Adamasignba which was renovated to look like fake Alianz Arena lolz!
.
What happened to these stadias that 3SC has to go to Ogun state for their continental home matches.
Though last I time I visited Liberty stadium in 2022, it was a shadow of a stadium which hosted one of the 1999 under 20 world cup matches.
