Increasing influence of Islam on Nigerians.is reason for uniform in university in Nigeria.

Muslim women in these uniform universities can wear hijab or burqa but non Muslim women are not allowed to choose what they want to wear.
The more reason why Nigeria must be dissolved into more countries.
true....but do you know most in hijab aren't happy. But I don't blame them, I blame those non Muslims who think they can be going naked with fashion. Let those non Muslims start wearing buba and all there native wear, trust me those Muslim will trash that hija.

Are these public universities? When did all this nonsense start in Nigerian universities? During my time only law students wore uniforms. I wouldn't even even call it uniform, it was a specific dress code
So right.

cheesy

OP note that universities don't impose uniforms on students rather it's the students who decided to impose uniforms on themselves. These varies per department, perhaps to make them (the students of particular departments) look identifiable and unique among other students of the same institution.
Some Universities impose uniform on students now. I was in UNN, Nsukka recently. It’s an eyesore. Almost all the departments in Arts and Social sciences are mandated to wear uniform. Not even mature uniform o, secondary school - like uniforms…

Strange it is. Private primary and secondary schools are gradually drifting away from regimented uniforms while public universities are imposing uniforms on undergraduates

Better to feel oppressed so you can focus and get the hell.out of there in record time.

It is not a life sentence you know. After that you still wear a uniform in youth service....then forty, fifty, sixty years of liberty to wear whatever you like and make whatever of your life.

The academia has always revolved around discipline and conservativeness.
You are saying a different thing. My question was whether students decided on wearing the uniform or whether the department or faculty imposed it on them.

That is my question.
Re: The Annoying Trend Of Uniforms In Nigerian Universities (photos) by kpankpangolo(f): 1:53pm On Jul 30
I don’t understand you children. The same you who will complain about indecent dressing by undergraduates is here making noise about this. Someone will find it difficult dressing immodestly where uniforms are the case. It is obviously the students who set this up themselves. Back in my uni days, wearing corporate attires was slowly becoming the norm from second year and up. The rationalization was that we’ll do so during our 9 - 5 existences, starting early was the logical action. Uniforms balance everyone’s look. The only way to tell poor from rich would be the quality of clothing materials and accessories used.

Why not conduct a small research instead of thinking and feeling?
There is no research to carry out.
Those pictures were taken during exams and it is normal. I wore my departmental uniform of sky blue and black during exam periods. Nothing bad about it.
Re: The Annoying Trend Of Uniforms In Nigerian Universities (photos) by Aboki99(m): 1:57pm On Jul 30
Many students especially female are stigmatised for wearing same dresss over and over when they don’t have the means to frequently change.

Uniform is a way of coping with this pressure.

Do research before you think. That is the problem of most Nigerians. They 'think', but cannot research on things.
And you just exhibited one of the problem with Nigeria. They insult instead of facing the issue and respond appropriately. It's a faceless forum and we all can yap anyhow sha.

This shouldn't be a problem since you can wear your everyday clothes to school.

Apart from using it uniformly you can as well use it anywhere.

I sees it as one going market to buy wear.
There will always be one disagreeable voice on any generally condemnable issue. Yours is the first one here.

Clap for yourself.

These are the people who mocked private schools when dressing codes were introduced.
Nigerians just naturally have that mentality of crabs in a bucket.

I doubt they were mandated, from those pictures it seem those students are into exams as such they might choose a uniform for signing out.

even one of the pictures showed a group wearing polo shirts so it means it is all a signing out paparazzi.
Some of you just jump into threads to make unnecessary conclusions. Who told you the photos show final year students signing out? The students you see cut across various levels in various departments. Make una take am easy dey make conclusions on things wey una nor sabi.
