It'll Be A Miracle For Adeleke To Win Re-election- Rufai Reacts To Osun Politics by Giftimoni(op): 3:04pm On Jul 30

Tension has heightened in Osun State following the arrest of the Secretary to the State Government, Teslim Igbalaye, and five others by the police over alleged vote-buying and possession of electoral materials.

The development has triggered a fresh confrontation between the Osun State Government and security authorities as political activities intensify ahead of the state's governorship election.

The police reportedly arrested Igbalaye during an operation linked to allegations of electoral malpractice. The authorities said the investigation was connected to suspected vote-buying and the possession of materials allegedly intended for use in the electoral process.

The arrest has, however, drawn a strong reaction from Governor Ademola Adeleke, who rejected what he described as attempts to intimidate members of his administration and supporters.

Adeleke said his administration would not bow to intimidation, insisting that the people of Osun State must be allowed to participate in the democratic process without fear.

The governor's position has added a political dimension to the arrest, with his administration questioning the circumstances surrounding the police operation.

The state government has reportedly raised concerns about the manner in which security operatives carried out the operation and alleged that the actions could undermine the democratic process in the state.

The police, on the other hand, maintain that their actions are connected to the enforcement of electoral laws and the investigation of alleged offences.

The development comes at a sensitive period for Osun, where political parties and their supporters are stepping up preparations for the governorship election.

The central issue now is whether the arrest represents a legitimate law-enforcement operation against suspected electoral offences or whether, as Adeleke's camp alleges, security agencies are being used in a manner that could intimidate political actors.

For voters and observers, the unfolding dispute also raises broader questions about the neutrality of security agencies and the need to ensure a credible and peaceful electoral process.

The allegations against those arrested remain subject to investigation, and any determination of criminal responsibility will depend on the outcome of due legal processes.

With the election drawing closer, the latest development is likely to keep the political atmosphere in Osun tense, while increasing scrutiny on the conduct of security agencies and political actors.

All eyes will now be on the police investigation, the response of the Adeleke administration and whether the dispute will have any wider impact on the state's electoral process.

The incumbent is always on the ballot due to their performance, just like Tinubu is on the ballot in 2027.

The question you ask yourself to know whether a person will win reelection is, those that voted for this leader in the last election, based on his/her performance, do you think they will go back to the polls to vote for him again?

For you to lose election, you must have performed so badly that people who previously voted for you are willing to reject money or gifts to vote you again (factoring in vote-buying in Nigeria).

This is why it’s easy to predict a defeat for Tinubu in 2027.

Outside the SW, people are ready to reject cash to vote Tinubu out of office, and this is fatality for him because over 60% of his votes in 2023 came from the North, and Buhari is no longer there for him.

Adeleke might not be the best governor but he's trying couple with all the situation around him. PDP, APC, even his party....

One thing I can say is that they is high rate of tribalism amongst Yoruba people..
Even LGA against an opponent that is not from their LGA.

This is why Adeleke is suffering..
I just pity the guy..

It's better to surprise ur enemy by pretending weak. APC cannot win any election free and fair election in South West.

Adeleke-----1. secure all the hotel rooms a week b4 election in osun state.
2. Block their cash routes. They rely on sharing 20k per vote like they did in Ekiti .

We know this, that’s why we’re sensitizing voters to ignore the propaganda and come out massively on Election Day and overwhelm them.

Tinubu will lose. He won’t be the first President to lose reelection in Nigeria or elsewhere in the world.

No matter the propaganda and intimidation tactics he deploys, we have seen those before and we will keep the voters well informed and ready to act decisively
