TikTok User - n.i.d.e.bantupeople: "This is that lady. This is that Nigerian fake wannabe journalist. That one that was so rude to Jacinta.

That one with no etiquette, and we can tell that her journalism degree she got it in 24 hours, or at the most seven days, because she has no journalist skills.

Please, there's a petition out here. We need to block this lady, number one, from ever benefiting from anything from South Africa. She cannot travel to South Africa, and she shouldn't even be doing interviews in South Africa.

Right here, they explained it. I'm gonna put the link in the comment section. Okay, yeah, we're gonna see who's Mumu. Okay, we're gonna see who are the rude people here because how dare you think you can eat from using the word South Africa? We're gonna make sure, and it's not just you. It's not just you.

We should declare Ireti Bakare-Yusuf a persona non grata in South Africa, which means that we don't want her. Which means that moving forward, we want her to have nothing. Okay, let Nigeria feed her. Let the Nigerians build her content. Okay, let her go be 100% Nigeria in Nigeria and leave us alone because we want nothing to do with them.

Ends with expletive.

Note: South Africans were also angered by a confrontation between Bakare-Yusuf and SA Justice Minister Mmamoloko Kubayi at a recent media briefing.

South African Starts Petition Unjustly Targeting Nigeria Info's Bakare-Yusuf

A petition calling for Nigeria Info FM presenter Ireti Bakare-Yusuf to be declared persona non grata in South Africa has surfaced online, promoted by an individual, Kgahliso Mokalapa.

It accuses Bakare-Yusuf of spreading misinformation about South Africa and promoting hostility toward the country through her reporting.

The organisers are urging supporters to sign the petition and contribute financially to the campaign.

The petition offers no specific allegations against her and no evidence linking her to the claims being made, leaving open the question of why her image was attached to it at all.

The mismatch between the petition's stated target and the face used to promote it has fuelled concern that Bakare-Yusuf, a vocal and consistently critical voice on Nigeria-South Africa relations, is being deliberately drawn into a harassment campaign at a moment of heightened tension between the two countries over xenophobic violence and the mass evacuation of Nigerian nationals from South Africa.

Bakare-Yusuf's Reporting

Bakare-Yusuf, who hosts Nigeria Info's Borderlines programme and founded the #NoMore movement, has built a reputation over recent months for confronting South African authorities directly over their treatment of Nigerians and other African migrants.

In one widely circulated exchange, she pressed South Africa's Justice Minister, Mmamoloko Kubayi, at an Inter-Ministerial Committee on Migration briefing in Pretoria, over remarks by a Cabinet colleague, Khumbudzo Ntshavheni, who had linked Nigerians to "drug dens" while responding to Nigeria's demand for compensation over property lost in anti-migrant violence.

Bakare-Yusuf noted that Nigerians in South Africa work as doctors, lawyers and other professionals, and asked directly whether an apology would be forthcoming.

An official approached her afterward and threatened to have her removed from the briefing room; no apology was given.

She has also pushed back on South African commentators who downplay Afrophobia against Nigerians and other African nationals, notably challenging author and activist Jacinta Ngobese-Zuma on Borderlines.

Her reporting has extended to the human toll of the crisis: she has described undocumented Nigerians trapped by South African law, unable to leave voluntarily without risking arrest.

She has also personally witnessed Nigerian families, including women and children, sleeping outside the Nigerian High Commission in Pretoria while awaiting evacuation flights.

Off the back of that reporting, she has publicly urged President Bola Tinubu to negotiate directly with South African President Cyril Ramaphosa for an amnesty that would let undocumented Nigerians return home without fear of arrest.

Petition Raises Safety Concerns
Because the campaign pairs Bakare-Yusuf's photograph with an explicit call to have her banned, without substantiating any allegation against her, it is raising fears as the kind of targeted online campaign that can expose journalists to real-world harassment, travel restrictions or intimidation.

Coming amid already strained Nigeria-South Africa relations over the recent wave of xenophobic attacks and the government's evacuation of nearly 1,500 Nigerians, the episode has heightened concern about outspoken reporters covering the crisis becoming targets themselves.

You don't hate us but we make you angry..... See how these people reason?

Anyway.... I've always maintained that SAns should be left alone..... Like the North Koreans. Should be cut off from the rest of the world.

I would rather trust a North Korean more than a South African.
Black South Africans are too envious, too lazy, irrational and wacked.

Simply leave South Africa and go home. Go and build your own home. Leave South Africans with their country.

Make Nigeria great. Appoint great and accountable leaders and see how the country will blossom. The country was way better than this in the 70s, 80s and 90s until politicians came and ruined it all.

Pettiness is all I see in those people. Imagine Nigerians leaving their hustle, businesses and other engagements to be chasing out one journalist whom they perceive went against them. Lol
Re: Ireti Bakare-Yusuf: South Africans Petition To Ban Nigerian Journalist by epainos:
Nigerians like wahala sef. Ha! Leave South Africans alone na. Ha ba!

Allow the Nigerian president show that Rasta...nonsense (that their president) that we will always be their father anyway. Let them run their mouths. Let them open threads.

By the way, I like how Seun and the mods are making them feel OK here. Thats what big brothers do na. While the Op is promoting signing one of our as enemy of SA, Seun is moving their stories to the front page. That's the spirit. Thats the big man's game. Lets make them run their mouths. The future will tell. Lol.n

We wont touch any of their properties..never. Let them keep doing their thing. Make dem drink all the beers in our people's shop na.

Guess what? That yeye man their president sent was not attended to well. Thanks for Bianca Ojukwu who told Mr President to let him dey his lane.

South Africans are running their mouths. But when we were giving them $20B, they were thanking us. Mandela in his grave knew what we did for them. And we gave them 300 passports when they were slaves in that place they said they are protecting. We will keep telling them. We gave them $20B + plus over 300 passports. Yes. .we did. No nation provided whom with $1B. We gave them $20B. So, are they saying all the bad things Nigerians are doing is up to one passport we gave them? They have the mind to say we should go build out nation. That nation that freedom them. No wahala na.

Leave them. Like i wrote earlier. I want to see the Nigerian president who dem born well who will ever issue 1 Nigerian passport to them again. Sebi they are sure that they are in control. Right? Leave them. When their eyes go clear, and they are back in the chains of the white (modern chains), i want to see the Nigerian president who dem born well to issue them just one paspport or give them $1.

Right now, let them keep having their fun. Let them keep insulting us. Like I said, i dont blame them, but Nigerians.

South Africa could deport massively these people legally, and no one would have complained. But they started killing our people, hailing insults on them? Thats a NO.

I laughed so hard the way that guy who their president is sending to nations countered the Ghanian who wanted to make them a subject of discussion in the next AU conference. Lol. Nigeria wouldn't do that. And that's why we ar3 dangerous. Trust Nigeria. Na the Ghanian president who attended to him I blamed. Seee how Naija is doing his big man thing.

See eh! Their president is so afraid of what Nigeria might do. Cos he is confused. Our president isnt doing anything to even retaliate. Lol. They thought we would have touched their investments here. But we haven't, and we wont. Lol. They actually want us to touch them so they can hold on to that. But we have refused to fall into that trap.

See....I predict 10 years max. They will lose that political power. The blacks will lose it. Then, the whites will combine their economical power with political and chain than with modern strategy such that no one will come for them. And they have even sent all their friends away. Lol.

Dog wey waka astray no go hear the hunter's whistle na. South Africa don waka. See eh. Dem koboko and blala will come in full package. Just less than 20 years of dominance ooo...see how they are flexing muscles. Dem go chop am for centuries to come. Leave them. See...just expect them to be running to Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya, etc starting from the next decade. These ones that are no strategic. Lol.

So, I am allowing them to run their mouths here. Let them attack my post. Lol.

Seun, keep pushing them to the front page. Internet doesnt forget. In 20 years when they have come to their senses, we will package everything here for them. Na so na. So, let them run their mouths here.

Re: Ireti Bakare-Yusuf: South Africans Petition To Ban Nigerian Journalist by Brendaniel: 5:55pm On Jul 31
That's why I am looking at those tribalists from a certain region that are supporting the nonsense South Africans are doing using drugs and illegal immigration as an excuse because they feel they targeting a certain tribe in Nigeria, I keep telling them that what South Africans are doing is from an angle of hatred, and they only need an excuse to pour out that hatred...

No one is supporting illegal immigration or drugs, but they should go about it according to the laws of their country in a civil manner, the reason why nobody is hating on Americans despite Trump doing the largest deportation the world has witnessed in recent time is because you don't see Americans going about targeting immigrants and telling them to leave their land or blaming them for their problems, in fact most of them believe the immigrants are even helping them and sometimes even fight for them.

Now SA people have come for their own sister, you will see them throwing insults on South Africans because it is now their person, you people be supporting nonsense thinking you are doing a certain people.

The Nigerians that we're making noise about banning Tyla are just plain stupid and short sighted.

Rather than hold their government accountable, they are looking for ways to get back at South Africans in their foolish internet rivalry.

The South Africans themselves who are involved in this xenophobic thing are normally idiots but why Nigerians will decide to roll in the mud with them, I don't know.

A lot of Nigerians going about their legitimate businesses in South Africa will be the victims of this and I guess the dumb Nigerians will also begin to target South African businesses in Nigeria next.

At the end of the day, nothing gets better for both countries just increase in hate and violence.

You stopped a South African musician from performing in Nigeria, what did you achieve with that?
Nothing but stupid pride in a pointless internet war.

The irritating part of all these is that; Nigerians don't learn, give them just 6 months after all these have died down, you will see them flocking down there all over again as if their oesophagus were tied there.

Is it that we don't think or we are just shameless.

DO YOU KNOW HOW MANY NIGERIANS SOUTH AFRICANS HAVE KILLED OR DESTROYED THEIR BUSINESSES AND FORCED TO FLEE THAT COUNTRY?

IF NIGERIANS REJECT TYLA, THEY HAVE EVERY RIGHT TO, SO STOP TALKING RUBBISH!

But that means you MUST also support our banning the over 150 large South African companies from operating in Nigeria.

They make billions daily in this country.

We don't have to let them be here at all.

If it's a technology thing, we have growing indigenous capacity, and we have China.

We don't need even ONE South African company in Nigeria.

So if Nigerians must stop going to South Africa as you demand, then all their companies MUST leave Nigeria.

Comprende?
