There is absolutely nothing wrong is marketing this Chinese EV

Almost everyone one is promoting one or the other, but you need not lie regarding the imaginary trip to Ibadan

Kara bridge hold up alone for evening go give you range anxiety

Abi you fly over Kara bridge?
Hold up actually positively affects EV range

With his battery capacity of 53KWh , he is limited by the drive range of his vehicle which should be around 400km, he can only make it to Port Harcourt if he is sure of getting a fast charging point in Benin City(half way to PH) and he is ready to spare about 2 hours for the charging process in Benin.
Does this account for the hours he will spend in traffic at Mosogar town before Sapele junction?

Traffic does not impact EV range unlike petrol cars. It's actually good for EVs due to regenerative braking

What if you run a 100kva generator powering your house and then plug in the car?
does this type of generator even exist?

You can't be using that EV car and be using Grid to charge it. All you need to do is build a solar charge point and you're good to go.
your range would be limited by a radius of half your ev range around that charger. If you have an ev with a range of 300km, your range would be realistically be 150km around the charger.

To buy and load 50kwh unit of electricity will cost up to 20k if I am not mistaken and that will take the car up to Benin from Lagos.
I think it is still cheaper than fueling to Benin
while it's cheaper, is it a one way trip?

Are you sure that were you are going to have electricity to charge the EV for a return trip?

Abeg break it down, are you saying 300km realistically is 150km or are you referring to the solar limiting it to that 150km. I'm confused

let's say you have an electric vehicle with 300km range. You then deside to travel to a location 300km away. When you reach there, your battery go be zero percent, right? How you go charge am away from your solar charger?
Or are you banking on your destination having band a power supply?

Realistically, you plan for GOING AND COMMING. So you divide your EV range by half to make a full round trip. So the longest distance with a guaranteed return from on an ev is it range divided by half.

Do you understand?

You said no import duty on EV cars? Okay, I laugh oh cheesy

Shipping a full electric car from China is already a challenge cos it requires special container and shipping alone will cost around $4500 to $5500. Add customs duty to it and you will know the op's price is not on the high side. What I dont know is the year of the Changan.

For your info, I have a 2026 model en route Nigeria and it cost around $35,000 buying alone.

So I am sure his is an older year model
Be careful when trading on chinese Vehicles because China is known for price dumping, the disparity in the price you bought and that of the OP is not necessarily due to the different year of manufacture, which is of little significance here, so long both vehicles are of same specifications.
The OP may have gotten his at a dumping price.
The chinese are presently offering different models of EVs in Europe at ridiculously low prices (obviously dumping prices) that will make you wonder if they are not selling at below production costs.

There is a charging port in Benin City

Similar issue with CNG car owners; these are initial teething problems that would dissipate with time
^^^
Not sure about them being 'initial teething problems'.

The infrastructure to support BEVs in this country just isn't there. It will cost a lot of money to put that infrastructure in place. I can imagine private investors (who may be considering setting up charging stations) would be concerned about the demand for their services. Would the (currently low) market demand justify the high cost of investment?

Some years ago, Toyota tried to defend its decision not to jump on the BEV 'train'. With so many people in the world unable to get electricity to power their homes, how would it be feasible to power BEVs? Only time will tell if they were right.

My view about this is that Nigeria is not ripe enough to embrace this technology. At this point expectations is that several charging stations should have been built to prepare us for this. Buying into this tech at this early stage could hurt much later...bad roads, availability of parts, technical capacity to handle repairs by our local mechanics and many more are issues to consider..
Re: My Experience Driving Interstate In An Electric Car by blunt2dcore(m): 11:11am On Sep 18
My view is that Nigeria isn’t quite ready for this technology yet. We should have enough charging stations and support infrastructure in place first. Getting in too early could hurt later, considering our bad roads, spare-parts availability, and limited technical capacity for repairs. There are quite a few things to sort out first.
