The Rich Don't Buy Time They Buy Freedom by Donbother(op): 4:59pm On Aug 04
A few days ago, I overheard someone say,

"If I had ₦10 million today, I'd never have to work again."

It sounded nice.

But the more I thought about it, the more I realized that's not how wealth works.

Many people think money is about buying expensive cars, luxury houses, or designer clothes.

In reality, the greatest thing money can buy is freedom.

Freedom to choose the kind of work you do.

Freedom to spend more time with your family.

Freedom to say "no" to opportunities that don't align with your values.

Freedom to handle emergencies without borrowing from friends or taking high-interest loans.

The truth is, being wealthy isn't about how expensive your lifestyle looks.

It's about how much control you have over your time.

Think about it.

Two people may earn the same amount every month.

One lives paycheck to paycheck, constantly worrying about bills.

The other has savings, investments, and additional sources of income.

Who is truly richer?

Most of us spend years chasing higher income.

There's nothing wrong with that.

But while chasing income, don't forget to build financial stability.

Ask yourself these questions:

- If I couldn't work for three months, would I be okay financially?
- Am I building assets, or am I only buying liabilities?
- Am I using today's income to create tomorrow's opportunities?

Financial freedom doesn't happen overnight.

It's built through consistent decisions repeated over time.

Spend wisely.

Save consistently.

Invest in yourself.

Look for legitimate ways to increase your income.

Most importantly, remember that wealth isn't measured by what people see.

It's measured by the peace of mind you have when no one is watching.

Now I'd like to hear from you.

If someone gave you enough money to never worry about bills again, what would you spend your time doing?

Would you still work, start a business, travel, volunteer, or pursue a passion you've been putting off?

Share your thoughts in the comments. I'm looking forward to reading different perspectives.

Though your opinion is way so much on track, I believe that the one ingredient that keeps the rich going is *The Hunger to Achieve More*. Some level of freedom brings satisfaction which will later make them broke if the hunger for more is not there.

I hate to break it to you, but yes, many of them don't.

The richest families in the world often don't send their children through the same public primary and secondary school system the average person goes through. They attend elite private schools, are homeschooled by world-class tutors, or receive customized education built around business, leadership, networking, and real-world experience.

School and education are not the same thing.

Many wealthy people value learning, but they don't necessarily rely on the traditional school path. They can afford alternatives that most people can't. That's why you'll find billionaires and business dynasties educating their children very differently from the average family.

Wealth is different from Money. Money is digital, wealth is assets. You can be rich with money but without assets. Many fall back to poverty without acquiring assets.

You’re right. That’s why they do everything possible to maintain the status quo.

You are still buying time either you like it or not
If I tell you I won't work again if I have such amount my reason for saying so should be your main target not just because I said that.
If I say I won't need to work again,I might have taught of how to investment the money and multiply it in such a way that even you will be amazed when you see the wealth I have accumulated in the next three years.By not working again,I might mean physical stress and struggles, working under someone etc.

You can be asset rich but money poor. Both has to balance so that your case doesn't look like Mr Kingsley who has plenty cars, houses and businesses. When small sickness struck, all his assets couldn't garner #2million to save his life.

Whatever you do when building assets, build cash also. Many have lost assets simply because they can't provide that cash for something as small as "processing or registration fee" to keep or service a valuable asset. A classical case is "Hitv"

The poor do repeat what their poor parents did.

We see the gifts given to Jesus by the 3 wise men but forget the lineage he was born into ( David- Solomon -Joseph& David- Nathan - Mary). The sacrifices His foreparents did eg laying the foundation Israel has today, sowing generously to God till God was provoked to coming down to ask Solomon what he wanted. There is a spiritual and physical side to wealth.

Foresight and a knack for doing business right/ knowing good deals when you see them are good qualities the rich have and pass to their kids.

Now, see the likes of Elon( Physicist), Jeff Bezos, Zuckerberg, T pushing their children to learning Mandarin even when it does not seem like the popular choice because they know what could happen in the business world between both countries in the future, they groom their young ones early enough in the business space/ world.

You don't know how blessed you are when you have that ability/ foresight to do things when others are still 'asleep' about it and when it gets too popular with the crowd into it, you have made whatever you could make and move on to the next project.

Thanks for your message but what of our dear president that didn't have records of primary/secondary school but proceeded to university as female and graduated as male. How is that possible?

So if your point is that every wealthy person follows the standard primary-secondary-school route, the evidence simply doesn't support that.

1) I've learnt to value the things that money can buy, not the money itself.
I ask my rich friends for their clothes they ni longer fancy and are in good condition. It saves me working jobs to get money to buy it myself
https://www.nairaland.com/8626659/want-things-money-buy-not

2) The opposite of riches isn't poverty. Heat is not less cold; sun is not less moon, man is not less woman

3) dot dot dot. Lol
