Nigeria Cannot Afford the Lagos-Calabar Highway; I Don’t Think the Road Will Go Beyond Epe – Duke

There is already a road from Lagos to Calabar; if the road is poor, fix it. There are some expenditures we make that do not reflect the realities of our circumstances. The amount spent on that road could be better spent providing electricity or upgrading the healthcare system.

Donald Duke, Presidential Candidate, People’s Redemption Party

Somebody just clocked it.

Maintenance culture is already low and we are all about a new road, why not maintain the existing roads and use the remaining funds for something else anyway, Nigeria will always be Nigeria.

The cost was not supposed to be borne by the government.. at least that's what they said at first.. they said it would be a PPP with government funding only around 10% thereabout

How they are now pumping our commonwealth into that venture beats me..

I never knew this man would be on the ballot. He definitely has my vote, even though I know he wouldn't win.

These are the kind of brains that should lead this country, not the Obi vs BAT circus.
Re: Nigeria Cannot Afford The Lagos- Calabar Highway; - Donald Duke by carzeem1: 9:03am On Aug 05
As it stands, the road cannot reach 50% completion in 8 years of Tinubu ( if he wins next election), unless the next government in 2031 continues.
It's a good but bloated project, looks like an open cheque was given to hitec ( Tinubu's allies) for the construction, we honestly cannot afford such jamboree at the expense of other areas in dire need of government attention.

Till date, minister umahi hasn't given the Nigerian populace cost breakdown of the project.
Re: Nigeria Cannot Afford The Lagos- Calabar Highway; - Donald Duke by RaySimran: 9:03am On Aug 05
Donald duke is speaking from experience, an experience he had with Tinapa, a failed gigantic project that gulps billions of naira

From the onset Coastal highway was just an avenue for massive looting

One of the best gentlemen who ever governed any state.
One terrible mistake OBJ ever made was not supporting Donald Duke to the Presidency when he had the choice. He said he was too sophisticated for Nigeria. See where we are now!
Re: Nigeria Cannot Afford The Lagos- Calabar Highway; - Donald Duke by Basic123:
If Tinubu was thinking like this as a governor. LAGOS wouldnt have had Lagos red light rail,Lagos blue light rail,Lekki free trade zone that host the world largest refinery and West africa first deep sea port.He wouldnt have become president against all odds!

Tinubu thinks big!... dreams big and achieve it.
That is the kind of person he is
Re: Nigeria Cannot Afford The Lagos- Calabar Highway; - Donald Duke by epainos:
This Baba made sense small. I agree, but I dont totally agree with him. Let me explain further.

Every Nigerian knows that our priority is fixing electricity. And every one knows that fixing corruption around it is the only way that can fix it.

OBJ fixed corruption around our banking system and telecoms, and its why we have those. I keep saying it that he knew he could fix it, and I guess it was the reason he tried the 3rd term agenda, but according to him, Atiku was his stumbling block. Anyway, that's Baba's kasala...na him saw Atiku and went for him. Abi no be so?

Tell me, who actually has shown us the roadmap of fixing it, or has something to show he can fix it? Bola only said...if I dont fix it, dont vote for me again. He too knows our priority is that thing. And has he done it? Nope. Obi went for an interview, and he couldn't say anything. Rufai Oseni his number 1 supporter who is a journalist had to call him out that he had nothing in his head. Lol. Atiku? Person wey wan destroy am more fit correct am? Kwankwaso.....lol.

None has no clue or idea how to do it. They think they know until they sit on the seat and realise that it is deeper than they thought.

Even Donald Duke that is talking here has not convinced me he has any solution.

I guess Tinubu saw it, and just diverted the whole money into what he can fix. Lol. cheesy. Chicago guy man go get something to campaign with na. He quickly called a master of builders in the works minister. Also, he made sure he got a good CBN person to fix what emewerey has damaged. Lol. And when Wale Edun refused to deliver, he upgraded his new discovery, his tax man. Lol. Just to put the bar above Buhari and at least maintain the foundation of what OBJ has built that Jonathan and Buhari didnt build well on the way they should.

As for me ooo, let him be sir. Donald Duke is one of the so called leaders we do not need. He's got nothing to offer us. We have seen what he offered Cross River and what the professor after him gave them. Im not that impressed. So, he should go siddon.

If he wants me to take him serious, he should show me that he can fix corruption around the power sector so that we can have the right policies there and fix it once and for all. Anything outside that, he should keep shut. Im pleased for now with the Lagos-Sokoto and lagos-Calabar roads. They will create more business ventures and opportunities. Our naira is getting stable a bit and out stock is the best performing in thw world right now. These are facts we are seeing with figures. If you dont see it, then you should learn economics and finance so that you also can engage well in such discussion and not be "follow follow".

If anyone is afraid to say how he will face and eradicate corruption around electricity, he cannot fix it. Gone are the days they can deceive us with "I dont want to reveal my strategy". Your secret strategy "kii" you there. Who you wan scope? Lol. Duke sef dey criticise. Let him talk how him wan do am sebi he is a presidential candidate. But nope. Dem no go talk am. Make he go siddon jare.

But you built Tinapa that is now a wasteland.

Abeg, what's the obsession with Lagos-Calabar road? I've never seen anyone attack Sokoto-Badagry superhighway? Why? TBH, WHY?

BTW, the coastal road is mostly a private sector initiative. Talk another thing.
Re: Nigeria Cannot Afford The Lagos- Calabar Highway; - Donald Duke by jojo1415: 9:06am On Aug 05
He started the obvious.....renovate/rehabilitate the roads we have b4....railways wil even be better than that coastal road he is doing.
Re: Nigeria Cannot Afford The Lagos- Calabar Highway; - Donald Duke by Gotocourt: 9:07am On Aug 05
11B$ no b anybody papa mate. Maintaining the old roads are more important. Tinubu wants a name and glory to himself. The project is capital intensive.
Re: Nigeria Cannot Afford The Lagos- Calabar Highway; - Donald Duke by FatimaAbubakar(f): 9:07am On Aug 05
The coastal roads is just an avenue for election riggers to siphon public funds. Nothing more. There's nothing out of Gbola Tilumbu's administration that's not fraudulent.

Ona no dey kuku use ona brain. The Tinapa and Obudu he developed in CR were attracting tourism, and there are countries in this world that rely on tourism for revenue generation.

Your average politicians have so destroyed ur thinking faculty to the extent that u only see flyovers (center tables) as the benchmark for development.

Wow, my first time of listening to this man with total attention. These are the kind of leaders the Youth should be vouching for. Very mature, articulate, and logical. For now, I'm still Obident though. 😀

Re: Nigeria Cannot Afford The Lagos- Calabar Highway; - Donald Duke by Winning123: 9:12am On Aug 05
The foolish man who built Tinapa without doing a feasibility study, who built a Free Trade Zone without informing Customs, who rebranded the Obudu Cattle ranch which tourists cannot get to after flight to Calabar is here telling us which project is viable and which is not.

Like I said before, many foolish people are coming out now because they know Gen Z’s don’t know them but we Millenals remember the fools- and this Donald Duke is certainly one of them failures.
