Can The Widespread Hunger Truly Influence Voters Decision In Favour Of Candidate by HomeofSolution(op): 8:43am On Aug 05

Can the widespread hunger truly influence voters decision in favour of candidates rather than strategy and manifestoes?

Many online pundits have claimed that the 2027 election is an election between hungry Nigerians and unemployed youths against the current administration of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Nigerians are experiencing severe hardship due to rising inflation, untamed cost of living, prevalent insecurity and growing youths population without commensurate employment opportunities to harness their talents and capabilities.

Some internet politicians have abandoned grassroots mobilisation, strategic positioning, ward engagements, active participation in constituency programmes and other development driven activities that can strengthen their candidacy and influence their luck, but resorts to wishful thinking and sentiments that angry Nigerians will vote them due to perceived anger against the ruling party, without providing a clear manifestoes, scorecard, track record of impacts and visions.

Unemployment and need for recognition have truly pushed some individuals into electoral race, adopting winning strategies of students union Government election for State assembly and National Assembly elections.

These sets of jokers are quick to criticize rather than provide solutions, they thought enjoying the patronage of party leaders in their wards and local governments will amount to vote on election day, or enjoying large followership on social media channels will results to cult-like followers in real life without doing the necessary work of mobilization, engagement, awareness, alignment, cooperation, empowerment and inclusiveness regardless of differences in faith and ethnicity.

They want the title of honorable for pasting posters in their streets but neglecting the core values, ideals, principles and act that truly qualified one to be regarded as an honorable.

Posting copied rhetorics and graphics across media platforms without organized campaign organization and offices to attend to inquiries from their constituents, but hoping on sympathy votes from hungry Nigerians that will forget their challenges on election day and embrace the #10, 000 inducement from polling agents and bags of rice some days to election from party chieftains across wards.

Voters inducement and vote buying are not ideal for democracy and people's representation, but in a society where poverty has been weaponized and periodic election turned to warfare, all is assumed to be fair and just as the end will justify the means.

Cheating, vote buying, threat, chaos, violence, stomach infrastructure handouts, snatching of ballot boxes, manipulation of results and other form of electoral injustice have been redefined as a winning strategy and working formulas in Nigeria election since time immemorial.

There is widespread hunger in Nigeria.

People are looking malnourished

Nigerians are hungry and dying.

Here where I am,
with 50% of my one day pay... Just one day pay half of it will fund all our weekly foods and groceries for 7 days.

Family of 5
Re: Can The Widespread Hunger Truly Influence Voters Decision In Favour Of Candidate by Kelklein(m): 9:51am On Aug 05
Very yes..

It s even absurd to ask people for vote again after subjecting them to so much labour pain.

Like you are seriously asking them to continue the hunger.

Nigerian Presidents need to understand the power their tongues wield.. their utterances are like laws.. it can change the course of things for millions.

Same way a simple pronouncement of 'subsidy is gone' changed everything even though nothing really changed in payment terms because there are still paying 'Energy Security Expenses' to God-Knows-who.

Another right pronouncement can set things back to the right course, esp in the forex rates and honest governance.. Why they are not doing that beats me..🤔

There are bribed Nigerians in tha NPF and INEC that can override the tame will of the people to end that hunger. No candidate even possesses the key to ending hunger.

Re: Can The Widespread Hunger Truly Influence Voters Decision In Favour Of Candidate by ARISHEM: 9:56am On Aug 05
Nope. The candidates that cause the hunger will roll bags of rice and wave indomie in front of their eyes during campaign. And after distributing all these plus cash to them before elections will change the minds of the receivers to vote them again

Hunger is a potent force of revolt.

Re: Can The Widespread Hunger Truly Influence Voters Decision In Favour Of Candidate by zenburster: 9:59am On Aug 05
I highly doubt it.

You think the average voter in Beere/Elekuro in Ibadan, will vote for a more capable candidate over their tribe brother Tinubu?

Or the average Muslim Norther in Kano, will vote a Christian PitObi over their Muslim Tulumbu?

Hunger be damned.

Tribalism + Religion >>> competence.

Nigerians are quite "d*ft"

Its like its only obidients that are dieing of hunger in this country like it's only in Nigeria there is inflation......since I was born I have always seen hungry people around even abroad but to obidients, tinubu brought hunger.

When atiku was vp,his govt failed to pay salariesand pensions as at when due and owed several years in arrears to civil servants, military pensioners overran abuja streets looking to collect their pensions with many dieing in the process, the longest ASUU strike and doctors atrike in the history of this country happened under that govt.......an atiku supporter will now have the guts to come and tell me hunger is worse under tinubu and i wont tell him how stupid he is..........all that isnt happening under this govt even upto the sub nationals.

Obi on the other hand was gov for 8 years and was part ofvthe GEJ govt,he left no meaningful legacy to pivot anambra State into a prosperous state,no industrial incubation hubs like you have in lagos and aba,no agro processing hubs,no standard vocational schools like you have in lagos,,investments in agric mechanisation or tech innovation hubs but was busy saving the states money to grow his own bank and build a brewery he personally has personal interest in.......onitsha main market, the largest market in Africa was as degenerate as it had always been throughout obi's 8 years, no innovation, no development, no growth just same old, chaotic and derelict space.

Tinubu has done well and he has earned our votes till 31!! Follow who know road....

At this point, the hunger is deliberate so they can easily buy votes by throwing loaves of bread at the people.
Re: Can The Widespread Hunger Truly Influence Voters Decision In Favour Of Candidate by Saystan: 10:05am On Aug 05
YES! Hunger can influence the voting decision of the hungry person against the candidates who kept them hungry.
That is why those who kept the people hungry are working tirelessly to RIG the elections.
RIGGING is their only hope.

Yes, but not the way you are thinking.

It will influence them to vote for the people who put them in hunger.

It’s known that money, gifts and food are key to winning elections in Nigeria.

We humans, especially the poor, we like instant gratification too much.

Once we see any small change now ( money) from these wicked politicians, we forget the hardship of over 4 years.

And that's why Tinubu will return.
