What Catholic Bishops Told Abacha In 1996... photos by PresidentMUGABE(op): 2:24pm On Aug 05
They do not know that the Pope came all the way from Rome to tell Abacha to release all political detainees
the Catholic church is not a church of tithes for private jet.it is a people oriented movement and the freedom of the people, peace, justice and good governance is part of the most important needs of the church worldwide.

Abacha didn't even send his attack dogs on the cardinal nor disrespect the Christian community despite being a military dictator. I have said it countless times, Abacha is more democratic than NADECO members.

Yet, Abacha's boy (Peter Obi) is now the face of Catholic politics.

You guys make it look as if it is the catholic bishops that were attacked for stating their opinion about the state of the nation. When the bishop make their position known, the president replied that the dark days were over and that things were beginning to get better. How is that an insult? Or is it wrong for 2 parties to disagree? On returning mission schools back to them, the president referred them back to the governors in their respective dioceses; is that also an insult?

The bishops went to pass a message, and they were received. The presidency did not release any derogatory statement against them.

Problem only started when Cardinal Onyaekan went on air to claim that the president wants to win by any means possible. The question is, was that the opinion of the college of bishops that went to see the president or just Cardinal Onayekan's personal opinion?

How can a highly influential figure accuse a man of wanting to rig an election based on perception and not on any solid data?

The only persons who replied from the presidency were Bwala, and what he said was that Cardinal Onayeikan was not speaking for all Christains (Which is true) but maybe for Catholics, since he is a catholic bishop. Is that an insult also?

The other statement came from Temitope Ajayi, who stated clearly that in his personal view Cardinal Onaiyekan abused clerical privileges. He then went on to respectfully explain what transpired in the meeting and expressed shock at Onaiyekan's press statement in his interview with regards to the allegation of rigging.

If Onaiyekan had stuck to the issue of people suffering or things being hard, no one would come so hard at him. it is the allegation of rigging like a politician that opened him up for dragging. He can only blame himself for that.
If he had stuck to what was said and not what he cannot prove then there will be no dragging.

The NADECO gang are the group of financial terrorists we see today.

They claimed they fought for democracy but today they're worse than those wearing khaki. One of them is the frog eye drug baron from irabiji who parades himself as a Democrat but everyone knows that he has no characteristics of democratic entity anywhere near his abode.

Abacha was solidly right to have chased them out of this nation because they are very dangerous humans

The phrase "all is fair in politics" reflects a view that political competition is a tough contest where normal rules of absolute morality may bend. using this sentiment regarding upcoming electoral contests, stating that opponents who complain are merely afraid of their own shadows and that political actors must wrestle to the finish line.

Bending the rules because you have the power to do so will only set the country ablaze....

Many people swallow the hard pills the INEC chairman dish out in the last election for peace but it might be difficult to swallow this time.....

Be reasonable and put the country first above your or anybody's ambition.

Without a country you will have ashes

Just curious, did Tinubu use that phrase in that meeting? If not why refer to something that did not happen in that meeting?

Go watch the video or search it online before defending the obvious.

Okay, I withdraw that question... This is the full quote I believe you are referring to:

"All is fair in politics, and everyone has equal opportunities. INEC is neutral and has never intimidated anyone. If political opponents are crying wolf, maybe they are afraid of their own shadows and the company they keep — not me," Tinubu said.

So, when people like Obi always criticize the government on every opportunity, is that not part of 'All is fair in politics'? Was he arrested for saying that? When Obi lied that he was being targeted even when he was the one who broker airport rules, is that not also 'All is fair in politics'?
When Atiku goes to US to try to tarnish the president's image, has anything happened to him? Is that not also 'All is fair in politics'?

If anything, it is Tinubu who has not done anything to his opponents but has remained respectful of them.

So how does that quote imply that he is desperate to do anything to win when he emphatically said 'INEC is neutral and has never intimidated anyone....' in response to their request for a free and fair election?

Which of the INEC is neutral?
2023 presidential election results is still not fully uploaded on the INEC server you can go and check.

Neutral INEC announce results midnight before the final collation.
River State result on INEC server is different from what was announced, the descrepancy is still on the server, that should have been enough evidence for the Justice to make their verdict.....

Can you say you are proud to raise your kids in a dishonest society with manipulated institution like INEC. Plssssss

Since you have join Obi to be lying. Everything here is a lie. Where on earth did you hear INEC announced the result when they have not finished collating the full results? What state was remaining? Go on IREV and tell me what state is yet to be uploaded up till now.

But let us ignore your lie for now. The Catholic church in history is not afraid to tell leaders the truth as they believe it to be, but the question is where did Cardinal Onaiyekan personally determine from a meeting of less than 2 hours that Tinubu was desperate to win at all cost?

What was the evidence?

Yes he used the phrase. When I heard it on Arise News I shouted and people in the bank were looking at me. Obviously Tinubu doesn't understand the gravity of that empty statement he made.

So tell me.... Or are you insinuating obi stole from abacha ?

Peter Obi's donations to the catholic church is truly working.

Now I see why his fans hate Adeboye and RCCG. Those ones refused to turn their church into campaign grounds.

This thing really pain Obi fans oh. You're missing the point, no one is against criticism, but let criticism be factual, logical and unbiased.
Where's the picture of the bishop(s) with opposition like MKO or NADECO? Clergy doesn't openly take sides in a contest during campaign season. They play a father to all role. If you want to make election a religious war, God no dey involved. You'd receive what you deserve.
You cannot come and accuse INEC without proof, claim president want to rig, and claim that even if election is free and fair, votes will not count and not expect a rebuttal. You're not dealing with kids, neither are you speaking the mind of God, please.
