I got a new fridge some months ago, it worked same way too. Started freezing from the top before going down. After some hours, the entire fridge finally froze. But my Hisense wasn't like that though. It usually start from the bottom. |

It's factory defect. I bought one like that. I spent so much to correct it but persisted. I have now dashed it out and bought hisense. |

Where did you get money to buy freezer in this Tinubu economy. I’m suspecting you ooo. Just joking. I will advise you return it asap. It may be a factory error. I have used nexus freezer before and I enjoyed it for almost 15 years. |

Tomiwa3108:Return it back, don't waste time self, freezers are suppose to start from bottom freezing not from top. After sometime it won't be retaining ice |

dgitrader:There is no defect. When I bought mine, a snowsea product that was how it started and I was worried but after some days everything corrected itself and the freezer freezes so well that ice stays for over a week so long as I have frozen pure water in it |
| Re: My New Freezer Freezes From The Top To The Middle Part by eseelvis: 9:27am On Aug 07 |
What you bought is not deep freezer, a chest freezer, deep freezer freezes From The bottom, why chest freezer freezes from the top, but many people don't know about this, If you had told the seller , that you need a freezer that freezer's from the bottom, they would have given you, What is happening to freeze, is not factory fort, that is just the type of the freezer, that is how the freezer was designed Use it like that |
| Re: My New Freezer Freezes From The Top To The Middle Part by LordReed(m): 9:34am On Aug 07 |
Tomiwa3108:There are usually no cooling channels in the bottoms of refrigerating units so the cooling comes in from the sides. Your unit is operating normally. |

LOVEGINO:But my freezer works fine. It doesn't gather so much ice on the surface but it freezes fine. I can only check if that is fault when it develop a real fault that requires the attention of a technician. That will be like in 10 years time because I am not expecting it to go bad anytime soon. |
| Re: My New Freezer Freezes From The Top To The Middle Part by wehdone(m): 10:08am On Aug 07 |
Dannavee:Don't panic; freezers are not meant to ice from top to bottom. Stock your freezer with food, drinks, etc... You'd be shocked as everything inside will freeze overnight. That's how it's supposed to be- ice from top to below the half way line When it's fully stocked, it will freeze everything inside |

ariesbull:Same experience, Skyrun. But mine lasted for 4-5years. Same aluminum. They recoiled it with copper gas pipes. It's another 5 years now... Working perfectly. |
| Re: My New Freezer Freezes From The Top To The Middle Part by wehdone(m): 10:25am On Aug 07 |
oloriokonbowa:Lol... It wasn't a defect. Load it till it's full, you'd be shocked at how it freezes everything Chest freezers work by both conduction and natural convection. When you stock your freezer up, conduction becomes more effective as the surface area is increased tremendously. Also, convection is more efficient as there's very little space; so cold air (which can drop as low as -30°c) is more likely to touch surfaces not cooled by conduction. |

Tomiwa3108:I am not a Nexus marketer. If you must use freezer for home or business, I can see a bag of packaged water . 1: Run your freezer for 24 accumulative hours, where you don't have steady power, in steady power area run it for 24 hours, DON'T open the freezer door now and then. 1: Make sure the settings is at Freezer *** symbol. 3: At four months it is still within warranty and replacement period. 4: Don't allow any second party that is fridge/freezer technician to carry out any repairs ( within these warranty and replacement period) Return to Nexus support center near you. |

Based on what you've described, **I wouldn't rush to return it yet**. Here's why: ### What you're seeing The **top and middle sections are freezing**. The **bottom section is cold but not yet frozen**. The freezer has **not had continuous power for more than about 6 hours at a time**. This is actually quite common with a **new chest freezer**. ### Why this happens Cold air is produced by the evaporator coils, which are typically located in the walls of the freezer. It can take **24–48 hours of continuous operation** for the entire freezer to reach its designed temperature, especially the lower areas and any items stored inside. Because your power supply has been interrupted, the freezer has effectively been restarting its cooling process each time the power goes off. ### What to do 1. **Give it continuous power** for at least **24 hours**, if possible. 2. Set the thermostat to the recommended setting (or the coldest setting initially if the manual suggests this). 3. Keep the lid closed as much as possible. 4. Avoid putting large quantities of unfrozen food inside until it has reached its normal operating temperature. ### Simple Test After 24 hours of uninterrupted power: * Place a cup of water on the **bottom** of the freezer. * Check it after another 24 hours. If the water has frozen solid, the freezer is working correctly. ### When should you return it? You should contact the retailer or manufacturer if, after **24–48 hours of continuous power**: * The bottom section still does **not freeze**. * Food in the lower section remains soft while the top is rock solid. * You notice excessive frost only at the top, unusual noises, or the compressor running constantly without cooling the lower part. ### My assessment Given the frequent power interruptions, it's **too early to conclude there's a fault**. The interrupted cooling is the most likely reason the lower section hasn't reached freezing temperature yet. |

My Scanfrost initially freezes from top to bottom during the first six years of use. Later, only about 75% of it freezes. Some technician said it was caused by pipe blockage. I replaced the internal pipes and the silver covering, which were in poor condition, but the problem persisted. Another technician said it was the compressor. I bought a 200L Thermocool to replace it after using the Scanfrost for ten years. Sometimes, I fill the lower part with empty plastic bottles before placing items I plan to refrigerate. The Scanfrost still works Niom: |
