I have said it several times that Onaiyekan is a confirmed Obidient Bishop. He has never hidden it, he has through his actions been supporting Peter Obi since 2022.

Anyone claiming he is a neutral man of God is just trying to be clever by half
its not bad if he supports him. you never tire for this government?

Did Osinbajo ever claim he wasn’t a politician? Anything coming out from a cleric like Onaiyekan would be seen as being politically motivated since he doesn’t hide his partisanship and that’s the area where the old man isn’t applying his senses (with all due respect)
No one will ever want to accuse clerics like Adeboye, Oyedepo, Pa Kumuyi of being partisan because at least, they do theirs with sense. You will never see them openly supporting and campaigning for one political candidate against another. You can’t be “openly” supporting an opposition figure and still want people to respect or view your criticism as being borne out of genuine goodwill. If he wants to be a cleric, he should act as one and if politics is his calling, he should make it his full-time job like the pastor Osinbajo you mentioned there. The rest of the people you mentioned there are/were mere political appointees and not politicians, they aren’t campaigning for anybody unlike how Onaiyekan carry hin own for head!
This is appalling
How come you guys only have problems with Pastors. So many Islamic clerics in the north openly endorsed Tinubu and some Atiku in the last election yet I didn't hear any of you cry on their heads and asked for their turbans to be removed. So many Islamic clerics preached and railed against Jonathan and you even clapped for them
It is only Christians una John Thomas dey rise

There are countless literature and treatise on why religious leaders shouldn't get into politics,I am surprised you feign ignorance of these just to push your warped anti tinubu narrative........it is a barefaced white lie by you to deny there aren't divergent opinions on this topic.

If a religious leader no matter how highly placed arrogates the privilege to thread the thin line of political opinion then he should be ready to take whatever flaks comes along that line.......if he can criticise he should also take his own without disdain......it is your imaginable right to make your stand and its only fare to recognise those opposed to that stand.....there is nothing you can do to stop the dragging!!
So why were APClowns crying when Obidients were dragging Soyinka who isn't even a cleric?
I thought you guys were preaching respect for the opinions of others which you cried that Obidients don't do.
How come suddenly it's OK to drag a cleric for having an opinion on the states of the nation now?
Una hypocrisy long

My only happiness in all these is that Bishop Onaiyekan is a Catholic like Obi.

He never recognized Tinubu as president in 2023 and that's why he's the only one that granted Arise TV interview, among all the bishops that visited Tinubu.

The man is actually a confirmed obidient.

He didn't support Tinubu in 2023. Objective assessments from such a person is almost impossible.

And if I were him, I wouldn't come out on air given my history of differences with the president and position as a priest.

He bleeped up!!!i
While discussing reactions to the 2023 presidential election, Adegbite recalled that "In 2023, when BAT was declared the winner, Onaiyekan said, 'He will not recognize the president.'" He argued that although individuals are entitled to their political preferences, the outcome declared by the electoral process should be respected unless overturned by the courts.
Guy go and read your link again.
According to adegbite,he claimed onaiyekan refused to accept Tinubu as president after the elections.
The link stated clearly that onaiyekan only rejected a Muslim Muslim ticket as his reason for not voting Tinubu.

You seem the one with low IQ here. Those individuals you mentioned where in those positions as professional NOT as clerics.
Thats number one.

Two TVC only asked a hypothetical question, the debate and discourse should then prove a point wither in agreement or in opposition to the topic.

In school, we do debates, rice is better than beans, does that mean it is better, it is left for debaters to prove it.
Get sence
You mean Osinbajo was VP as a lawyer not as a Christian leader? How old were you in 2015??

What about Pastor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom? Father Alia of Benue nko? We had Revd Nyame in Taraba as well. Ibrahim Shekarau was governor of Kano.

You're surely out of your depth in this discourse. Forgive me. I didn't know the debate on TVC was rice and beans styled debate. So you mean TVC was just putting up the debate to chew corn not that they are interested in contributing meaningfully to public affairs and nation building. TVC is just a secondary school debate stage? Fair logic then!

You're just manipulating the message of the cleric, there's different between cleric that's a member of a political party, the one that accepts appointment from a political party and the one that's in-charge of a church that's systematically taking side in public for the support of his preferred political party, such cleric is dangerous to the society like that Catholic Church Bishop with his elderly rascality.
What's the difference between the two? I never knew clerics are grouped according to if they are in public office or not. What other classification do you have for clerics. I'll like to be enlightened

You are mixing simple issues. "Should clerics be involved in political matters in their office as clerics?" is different from "Should clerics be allowed to hold political office as individuals who also happen to be clerics?". The first question examines whether the clerical office itself should intervene in politics. The second asks whether personal religious activities disqualify a person from the exercise of civil rights. I think the distinction is so obvious that you must know this already but merely choose to ignore it.

Just look at the rubbish he wrote claiming to be smart in his pants. So having an opinion about the state of the nation and expressing it openly is not a civil right?!! How did citizens of north Korea and Iran get access to a Nigerian forum?!!

The only difference between you and those Islamic extremists killing people up north is that you don’t have access to guns. So in your small mind, I’m a Muslim for speaking against an erring Christian priest?🤣 No bro, I’m no hypocrite.
Like I said earlier, nobody is stopping anyone from endorsing anybody they like but just know that your opinions cease to be seen as being neutral the moment you start openly endorsing one candidate against the other
Trust me, nobody would have taken this to be anything if those statements were issued by neutral people like PA Kumuyi, the Oni of Ife, Oba of Benin or Pa Oyedepo.
Onaiyekan traded off his respect the very day he started making it crystal obvious he had a preferred candidate. C’mon bro, this man is not even hiding his disdain for the President. Why can’t he emulate the other priests like Bishop Oyedepo? We all know Oyedepo doesn’t really like Tinubu but he’s definitely not rubbishing himself by not going fully partisan. He always makes it clear that he’s against bad leadership instead of claiming to have a preferred candidate, that’s exactly how sensible Royal fathers and religious leaders are expected to carry themselves. You don’t put your hands in partisan politics and still expect to be respected.

What’s wrong is that the so called Bishop Adegbite doesn’t practice what he’s preaching.

If APC can have a number of pastors and religious leaders as politicians, why can’t clerics talk about the political, social and economic situation of the country?
Did you listen to Adegbite? He did not criticise Onayeikan for his political choice intact he encouraged it he only said Religious leaders should be cautious with their choice of words, and be aware of the dangers of social media.

Onayeikan had been careless leading up to and just after the 2023 elections, is actions giving an interview within 4hrs of meeting with the president shows he didn't act in good faith. Remember that interview was not impromptu it was preplanned before the presidential meeting itself which is a betrayal of principle in essence

It's no longer an opinion, we've seen an ordained pastor rose to the level of VP, many governors today are deacons or even pastor, or priest

Many political appointees too, so it's just hypocritical asking such question, cos the answer is already in our faces

As I told one of your colleagues, you have to engage intelligently if you wish to communicate.

Is there any place where I've said anyone should not have an opinion? Do you know the distinction between expressing an official position as an official who led an official visit to the president as the leader (or a recognized leader) of an organization, and a single individual expressing his opinion on his own behalf, even from the pulpit as many others have done? Has anyone of the many preachers who expresses their opinion from the pulpit ever been question over their involvement in state matters? You still can't see the distinction ehn?

The difference is the political parties they belong or have sympathy for.

You missed the point - he didn't support Tinubu in 2023 on religious ground which he had right to. But mind you, he's a supposed priest. There's a problem of double character. He is supposed priest and opponent. His position was at best opinions of the opponents. While the Bishop Adegbite didn't hide his position as a supporter of Tinubu.
