It was an overreach by EFCC even though they had a good reason to suspect funds are being diverted for political patronage.

Kudos to Mr. President for making this call. It is the only sensible and democratic decision in this matter. No matter how convenient it may be for the APC, an undemocratic precedent that attacks the heart of the sacred principle of separation of powers and independence of each level of government should not be allowed.

In life, you can only deceive some people all the time but can't deveive everyone always. Thank you.
CharlesCNG:
The irony is striking. When Tinubu had NOT intervened, Obidients and the opposition insisted he secretly directed the EFCC and called him a dictator.

Now that he HAS intervened, they claim he bowed to public outrage. Interesting. So the "dictator" now changes his mind because of public opinion? They can't even keep their own narrative straight.
For THIS PEOPLE , the conclusion never changes—they simply rewrite the premise.

You have said absolutely nothing.

The post raised a simple contradiction: when Tinubu did NOT intervene, he was accused of secretly directing the EFCC. When he DID intervene, he was accused of changing his mind because of public outrage.

Instead of addressing that irony, you replied with a generic proverb that answers nothing.

If you don't have a response to the argument, just say so. Proverbs are not rebuttals.

CharlesCNG:
Tinubu's EFCC Intervention Was Checks and Balances, Not Interference by CharlesCNG.

Critics calling President Bola Tinubu's intervention in the EFCC-Osun account controversy executive interference miss the point.

Checks and balances also operate within government, ensuring agencies exercise their powers responsibly without undermining public confidence.

The account freeze, coming days before a governorship election, was politically combustible. Whatever the investigation's merits, it risked creating the perception that federal institutions were being used against an opposition-controlled state. Tinubu's intervention reduced that suspicion and lowered political tension.

Agency independence does not mean agencies operate without oversight. They remain accountable within Nigeria's constitutional framework, and responsible presidential supervision is part of that framework.

Ironically, had Tinubu remained silent, many of the same critics would likely have accused him of secretly directing the EFCC. Having publicly distanced himself from the action, they now fault him for intervening.

They cannot have it both ways. Tinubu chose the course that strengthened confidence that elections should be decided by voters—not by perceived federal interference.
God has defeated the plan of devil to set Osun state ablaze yet enemies are not satisfied. The same people who were attacking Mr President when efcc freeze Osun state account are the same people praising former CBN governor for coming up with that catastrophic actions in the twilight of 2023 election that caused untold pain to Nigerians and almost completely paralyzed Nigeria economy.

This response is the kind of fantasy that keeps the Atiku Last-Chance Cash-Out Crew in fantasy land.

The claim that people voted simply to "teach Tinubu and Oyetola a lesson" is speculative arrant nonsense, not evidence.

Atiku carried Osun in 2023 largely on the back of the PDP's incumbent state structure. That structure is gone. Yet the Atiku Final Payout Caucus must keep selling 2023 fantasies and milking what many see as the perennial CONTESTANT & LOSER candidate's final presidential outing.

As for security, nobody with any sense celebrates kidnapping or insecurity. The real test is whether governments strengthen security and protect lives—not exploit isolated incidents for political propaganda.

The Atiku camp is still fighting yesterday's election because it has little to offer Nigerians about tomorrow.

Atiku: sope O ti lo.
PDP will never win in osun then if not the crisis btw Aregbesola and Oyetola/Tinubu, Adeleke and PDP in osun knew that fact very well then, Adeleke even organized prayer in all 30 LGs in osun for disunity among them and his prayer was answered.

Which pdp structure are you talking about, they couldn't defeat APC in osun then if their unity was in tact

You are only deceiving yourself if you claim that the efcc chairman is acting on his own accord without taking orders from the oga at the top. At the same time, you will only be deceiving yourself if you claim that the president wasn't aware of this shenanigans from the very beginning.

Which government agency has the power or authority to freeze the account of an individual or a sub national without a valid court order? The answer is none but efcc under the watch of president Tinubu freezed the account of Osun state government without a valid court order and First Bank went ahead to obey the efcc order without a valid order from the courts.
Now before you claim that there was a court order, the efcc spokesperson while on a television interview expressly told Nigerians that the efcc acted without a valid court order.
Can this nonsense ever happen in a country with strong institutions, the answer is capital NO.
The country is at its lowest level in terms of rule of law under this government.

You are right on the narrow legal point: EFCC ordinarily needs a court order to freeze an account.

But your argument then collapses.

If Tinubu supposedly directed EFCC to weaponise Osun’s accounts, why did the same Tinubu direct EFCC to return to court and get the account de-frozen?

Separate the issues. If EFCC acted without the required order, EFCC should answer for that procedural breach.

But you cannot blame Tinubu for the freeze while ignoring his intervention to reverse it through legal process.

That is like accusing the fire brigade of starting the fire because the President ordered them to extinguish it.

So the real question remains: what evidence proves Tinubu ordered the unlawful freeze in the first place?

Without that evidence, the dictatorship narrative is just senseless assertion on your part—not proof.

That is precisely the problem with your argument: assumption has replaced evidence.

You insist the EFCC chairman could not have acted without Tinubu's instruction and that Tinubu "must have known" from the beginning. Fine—where is the evidence?

Because the observable fact cuts the other way: when the controversy erupted, Tinubu intervened and directed that the matter be taken through the proper legal process.

You cannot simply declare, "Tinubu ordered it," then treat your declaration as proof.

If every agency action automatically belongs to the President, then agency independence becomes meaningless.

Your "strong men, weak institutions" is just aslogan but slogans are not evidence.

Show that Tinubu ordered the freeze. Otherwise, you are not establishing presidential involvement—you are merely assuming the conclusion you want to reach.

Let's follow your own logic.

You say Adeleke defeated Oyetola because of the Aregbesola rebellion and APC disunity. Fine. That made Adeleke governor, giving the PDP incumbency and statewide structure before the 2023 presidential election.

The figures fit that reality: Adeleke won 403,371 votes in 2022. Seven months later, Atiku won Osun with 354,366 against Tinubu's 343,945.

You also claim Adeleke organised prayers across all 30 LGAs for APC disunity. So why pretend his governorship and PDP structure played no role in Atiku's victory?

Today, that structure is no longer available to Atiku.

You can't credit structure for Adeleke's victory but deny its importance in Atiku's. Pick one.

The irony is striking. When Tinubu had NOT intervened, Obidients and the opposition claimed he secretly ordered the EFCC and branded him a dictator. Now that he HAS intervened, they still accuse him of being a dictator. To them, everything is politics. Whatever he does—or doesn't do—they simply adjust the accusation to fit their preferred narrative.

The truth is simple: like a referee accused of bias whether he blows the whistle or lets play continue, their verdict is decided before the facts.

Thank you. I genuinely appreciate both your honesty and the civility of this exchange.

Reasonable people can look at the same facts and reach different conclusions. That's perfectly normal in a democracy. What matters is that we challenge one another with evidence rather than assumptions.

I also appreciate your willingness to acknowledge where the evidence is incomplete. That is a strength, not a weakness.

I've enjoyed the discussion, and I hope we can continue future debates in the same spirit—firm on the issues, respectful to each other.

Have a good day too.
