An Open Letter To Davido Ahead Of The Forthcoming Osun Elections. by CharlesCNG(op): 6:38am On Aug 08
My Dear Davido,

Permit me to write this, not as a politician or a member of any political party, but as one of your millions of admirers.

Like countless Nigerians, I have followed your journey for years. I admire not only your extraordinary talent, but also the qualities that have made you one of the country's most beloved public figures—your humility, generosity, respect for people, and the genuine warmth you bring wherever you go.

My entire family enjoys your music. We have celebrated your successes because, beyond entertainment, you have become one of the few Nigerians whose appeal cuts across political parties, ethnic groups, religions and regions.
Whether APC, PDP, Labour, ADC or politically neutral, Nigerians proudly call themselves Davido fans.

That is a rare GOD GIVEN gift.

It is also why I felt compelled to write this.

iI am not suggesting that you should not support your family. Every Nigerian has the right to support loved ones in politics, and no reasonable person should fault you for standing by your uncle- knowing how well you cherish family values.

My concern is different.

As one of Nigeria's biggest cultural ambassadors, I believe there is wisdom in being selective about the political battles you personally choose to fight.

Campaigning for your uncle is understandable.

Personally engaging every politician or commentator who criticises him is something else entirely.

Those exchanges are better handled by his campaign team and media aides. They signed up for politics.

You signed up to unite millions through your music.

Your greatest strength has always been your ability to bring people together.
Fans who disagree on almost everything else still sing your songs together, fill your concerts together and celebrate your achievements together.

That broad goodwill is priceless.

After this election is over, many Nigerians who may NOT vote for Governor Adeleke will still proudly stream your music, buy tickets to your concerts and continue supporting your career.

That is why I believe you gain more by remaining above the daily political crossfire than by personally responding to every political jab directed at your uncle.

Please do not misunderstand me. This is not a call for silence or neutrality. It is simply an appeal for balance.

Continue to love your family. Continue to support your uncle. But also remember that you belong, in a unique way, to millions of Nigerians whose only common ground is the joy your music has brought into their lives.

That is a legacy worth protecting.

With respect and admiration,

A Loyal Fan

Explain how the observation is not valid. Must you throw around insult because you are a pop star. Let Mr governor's team do their job by reacting to political tantrums by opposition rather than using your image to defend your uncle at every political jab thrown at him. The reason why you feel it is your position to insult an observation is simply needless. David, you concentrate more on convincing the citizens of his state rather than fighting dirty on social media.

The expression itself is a common rhetorical device. Saying:
"Permit me to write this, not as a politician or a member of any political party, but as one of your millions of admirers."

It does not necessarily mean i am denying having political views or affiliations. It signals that, for the purpose of that letter, I am speaking from the perspective of a fan rather than making a partisan argument.

As to my stand,y ou are right. I am unequivocally, unapologetically, unambiguously, unreservedly and unwaveringly supportive of President Tinubu's reform agenda.
Re: An Open Letter To Davido Ahead Of The Forthcoming Osun Elections. by Jayboi(m):
Not in the face of unfairness. He knows his uncle and his uncle has proven himself to be a good leader even if he doesn't have the best of academic results. Yet he has proven himself to be one of the best governors the State has ever produced. It's a family thing. Adeleke wouldn't have achieved without the support of family. Family is everything. Davido is right to go public whenever injustice is been meted out. He is right to defend his family even when his image is put on the line. BUT
The question is, has he reduced since his support for family...NO
And why...cos his family too has not ever disappointed him...so he is right to keep doing what he's doing and Osun people love it.

So keep your so called views to yourself. You simply are intimidated by the strength Davido's voice carries.

Re: An Open Letter To Davido Ahead Of The Forthcoming Osun Elections. by WizardOfNG: 7:51am On Aug 09
@OP.

Issue with Davido is that he feels he must defend his Uncle and family blindly. Fair enough.

Yet he will learn being a music superstar is nothing when you delve into Nigerian politics without the loyalists and backing to traverse and conquer the system.

If you want to immerse yourself aggressively in Nigerian political affairs, as Davido is trying to do, you must be well-supported by power brokers, politically intelligent and well-respected.

I can't call Osun guber election as I don't know local dynamics of the State that well but broad info I have analyzed makes me believe Adeleke will lose.

Davido should be careful. He isn't intelligent or savvy enough for this confrontational noisemaking he is engaging in. He should concentrate on music.
