Billionaire 'Ochacho' Adah: Who Is He & What Does He Really Do? by uche87(op): 12:50pm On Aug 08
The Nigerian media has produced more billionaires in news articles than in reality. The moment a man shows up and sprinkles money on social media influencers or donates money to a popular cause, the conventional media goes into overdrive with sensational captions that could generate traffic. The donor is termed a billionaire until the person involved starts to believe that.

The latest man on the block is King Mohammed Odeh Adah, popularly known as King Ochacho. He is a prominent businessman, real estate mogul, entrepreneur and philanthropist. Hailing from the Otukpo region of Benue State, he is the Chief Executive Officer of the Ochacho Group.

Ochacho reportedly generates his wealth primarily through a diversified portfolio of business ventures under the Ochacho Group, which include real estate, hospitality, tourism, oil and gas, and other commercial enterprises.

There is no official or publicly verified net worth for Ochacho, but some media platforms have estimated that he is worth $48 million without providing any credible evidence. Ochacho presently looks decent and honourable. He carries himself well, and there are no negative reports about him, at least for now. That is remarkable!

Before now, nothing much was known about him on social media. Benue State appears to have more problems than Nigeria as a whole: the prevalence of poverty, HIV/AIDS, low standard of living, natural disasters like flooding, security issues, political tussles and the likes.

Ochacho might have the money and simply want the fame that comes with it, just like the business mogul, Emeka Okonkwo, aka E-Money, and the rest. He studied the Nigerian media space and took the easiest and fastest route to announce himself. He rode on the wave of the wedding ceremony of Nigerian TikTok stars Peller and Jarvis and projected his image on social media.

He gifted the couple a property worth N400 million in a highbrow area of Abuja, the capital of Nigeria. Peller was shocked. He had never heard of Ochacho before. Media reports have it that Ochacho gatecrashed Peller’s wedding party and was almost removed from the upscale and celebrity-studded event.

Different accounts and insinuations have trailed the big-money house gift to Peller. Some said the keys would never be delivered to him. Ochacho did. Some said it was only a lease. The Nigerian celebrity circle is filled with celebrity stunts designed to garner media attention. A recent example was the controversial pretend wedding party organised by social media content creator Geh Geh. That was an expensive joke, but nobody seems to care much about credibility in a space like that.

Since the announcement of the property gift, Nigerian bloggers appear to have had a camera at the back of Ochacho’s head. One blogger reported that he had a set of gold-plated teeth and, unnecessarily, focused on a big pimple on the left side of his cheek. That was crazy, in my view. There is also the possibility of Ochacho’s PR machine working behind the scenes.

Since Ochacho appears to have money to spare, some celebrity praise-singers like ‘Lekki Street Boy’, the self-acclaimed biggest beggar in Africa, have targeted him. Since Lekki Street Boy has thousands of followers on social media, mainly on TikTok, and fits into the publicity structure that Ochacho appears to crave, he invited him to his house in Lagos.

Lekki Street Boy would later announce that he was gifted a sum of N2 million as transport fare. He made a video with Ochacho, singing his praises while Ochacho’s potbelly was proudly paraded in front of the camera.

At a time when successful people are hiding their heads and wealth due to the insecurity crisis, kidnapping for ransom and threats posed by people begging others for money, Ochacho is sticking his head out. It appears he wants the spot occupied by E-Money in the Nigerian social media space.

Ochacho is also projecting his son, who is a 13-year-old musician named IceKing Ochacho. Many believe there might be a reason for his newfound interest in fame. But with Ochacho’s enthusiasm, there might be more to the story.

Nigeria is such an interesting country with complex people. One wonders how a billionaire businessman just springs up with an array of businesses without a visible workforce, publicised vacancies or recruitment exercises. Well, I believe in miracles.

In the UK, if a ‘billionaire’ suddenly drops from the sky overnight, parading a lavish lifestyle, high-end real estate developments, a fleet of luxury vehicles and high-profile philanthropic gestures without credibly audited financial assets to back the claims, the media would probably start looking into the matter, as seen in controversies surrounding other extraordinary claims about public figures.

So, who exactly is King Ochacho? Is he genuinely a billionaire, or has the Nigerian media simply crowned another wealthy man with a title that sounds good in a headline?

Perhaps only Ochacho and his accountants know the real answer.

Re: Billionaire 'Ochacho' Adah: Who Is He & What Does He Really Do? by Host78:
Money without power is useless.

If you are poor, you'll think money is everything.

But once you have money, you'll understand the importance of power.

It's easy for peller never to get arrested in Nigeria because he had influence. But last year, you could arrest Ochacho and no one would care.

But with increased fame, it makes it harder to just pull him out.

He has tasted money. And someone somewhere probably has given him a taste of power maybe denying him something or threatening him.

So he knows what he's looking for now. But poverty go make us think say "him get money now, why him no just siddon queitly and enjoy"

Na because dem never intimidate you before upon say u get money die.

It’s silly trying so hard to claim everything that “looks successful” irrespective of what truly that thing is.

Just because you feel the name sounds Igbo, you fail to realize that his full name is: Mohammed Usman Adah. The “Ochacho,” (which is idoma by the way) is not a part of his real name just as he uses the word “King” but he is not a king of even the street of his house.

Ochacho is IDOMA. Relax yourself.

But on another hand, who told you that “money and gifts” can or should be a reward for academic excellence?

One reason why the academic sector has not been corrupted is simply because it has protected itself from a mindset such as yours.

The moment it loses guard, we will start having “billionaire Professors” whose sole aim is to prove how much they are “successful in academics” not by their published papers, but by “how much money they can show off.”

It’s a corrupt mind.

When you are rich, you may want to concentrate on certain 'portfolios' not necessarily owning too many businesses and employing so many people.

Since it is one's money, choice may be concentration on the financial markets and real estate ( lands, land flipping, houses....... office/mall buildings even if one doesn't like usual renting of one's house to tenants due to fear on certain characters of tenants).

He may also not originally be from Otukpo as their people migrate a lot to other places eg Stella Damasus who now claims Ibusa ( her people migrated to Ibusa during civil war).

Forbes is not entirely correct with their publication and I will give you some few examples.

Tony Elumelu is worth between $3billion to $5billion US dollars but Forbes don't publish him as a billionaire in USD.

Cosmos Maduka the owner and founder of Coscharis group is a known billionaire of many years and he has said it with his mouth several times but Forbes don't publish him mostly because his company is not publicly listed which is what Forbes usually rely on.

Arthur Eze the founder of Oranto group with active and operational oil exploration company exploring crude oil and also into oil and gas business in several African countries including in some Oceania countries is not listed on Forbes as Billionaire in USD.

Allen Onyema the founder and owner of Airpeace is a confirmed dollar billionaire but Forbes don't list him for reasons best known to them including the fact that none of his companies are publicly listed or selling shares publicly which are what Forbes usually rely on.

Chief Vincent Amaechi Obianodo the owner and founder of Young Shall Grow Motors and numerous hospitality outlets and real estate businesses is a confirmed billionaire and he has said this severally, Forbes once published him and later stopped but the man laughs cos he knows his worth but because his companies are not publicly listed and selling shares, Forbes don't publish him anymore.

So there are several other dollar billionaires that Forbes don't publish and I believe it's because their companies or firms are not publicly quoted or listed and selling shares which is what Forbes relies on most times in making up their rich list

I stand firmly with you on this issue, just imagine a Billionaire Professor. However, you can't earn a professorship without visible years of teaching, conducting somany research with substantial publication in the University.

One doesn't need to have it in cash to be referred to as a billionaire.

Net worth comprises of everything one owns.

You are getting it all wrong,he could be a billionaire in Naira,it doesn't mean that he has a billion dollars, the last time I checked,Naira is the official denomination used in Nigeria.
Moreover making a billion naira these days is easier, going by the low value of naira and the high inflationary rate.
I am not holding brief for Ochacho!

Do you even know that the true value of Dangote refinery before all his political “revaluation” is only 4 billion dollars? I mean the whole refinery; pin to finish.
