A few questions. Was the first marriage purely customary and nothing else? If so he actually technically broke no laws if its true. Same for Islamic. However if he did statutory or church hes then entered criminal activity. The white dress kind of implies he broke the law. Either way. And no mention in the article. |

GOFRONT:No. Get it right. You are not entitled to anything. You have to find women that want it. Then you have to enter a specific type of marriage. And then if you want polygamy you have to do exactly what the families of the women demand. Not every step but payment and handing the bride over. In that sense IF you want to do then it kind of is mandatory those 2 parts. Then you cannot do statutory or church. But you are not entitled to it against the wishes of the women. |

Some men get mind sha. But as a man, if you want to live long, please dont be reckless with women to this extent because hell is nothing compared to a woman's scorned. This is not an achievement but a wicked and shameful act! If you want to practice polygamy, dont be cunning with it, dont lure ladies that are not ready to be in a polygamous marriage into it thinking you are smart, you are only digging your own grave, men please you all can do better na ![]() Them never born the son of man that will dare this with my angelic daughter, I dont pray for that anyway, what rubbish ![]() |

GOFRONT:I think this man needs a further elaboration. Even IF you want it and even IF you choose it. You are still NOT entitled to it. There IS ALWAYS a burden of proof on you (you need to earn it chavvy) you have to prove that you can provide for the women and any children treating them all equally. You need to prove it to the women and their families. You are a member of a tribe + you could be Muslim. So it can be mandatory for you IF YOU WANT POLYGAMY. But thats you choosing tribal over statutory or Christian (monogamy) that blocks you and your wives from travelling alot of the world together. |

As much as I shee t on social media, this is one way in which it comes through. In the past a guy could marry a second wife esp if he worked out of town and first wife would not know. With social media you cannot hide it. The pictures will be posted to sm and someone who knows wife 01 will see and share same to her. |

Sue your husband what are you waiting for except your marriage wasn't done under the act, under customary law,ur husband can marry more than one wife and there isn't so much you can do about it. |

Cmanforall:You didn't understand his post. If the marriage with the other woman was done under traditional rites or customary law, as we call it here in Nigeria, it is perfectly legal for him to marry another wife, same for islamic marriage. But if the marriage was under statutory law, or done in a church, (which is covered by statutory law)..ie banns were done in a court of law before the church marriage, then the marriage is bigamous..and ilegal(If you have been to a church wedding, you would note that the bride, groom and representatives from their family sign a document which is legally binding and issued by the court. In some instances, they even have a rep from the court. Also, court marriages are covered by this matter). The problem is, the man appears or it is implied (we dont know) to have done church wedding both times. That's not allowed under Nigerian law, unless he divorced his first wife. It is also possible that wife no 1 has been divorced properly, but she hasn't accepted being divorced, and is being annoying. (she did take the post down, which may imply that). And it is possible that it is a bitter ex girlfriend, not a wife. When it comes to marriage, we got two variants of the law working here. |

If you didn't treat him right he has the right to get another wife. You can't be giving a man hell and you think he'll not want to get your replacement. |
