This is a rejoinder to the FP post Tinubu Has Already Won 2027. So Why Are We Voting? which I found quite dubious.

Do not despair or be discouraged.

Propaganda has always been a weapon in politics. It can be used to create confusion, doubt and hopelessness. Whether intentional or not, this is exactly the effect narratives like this can have.

If you repeatedly tell frustrated Nigerians that an election has already been decided and that voting is pointless, you depress and demoralize them. Eventually, some will simply decide there is no point showing up on Election Day.

Make no mistake: high voter turnout is one of the biggest obstacles an unpopular incumbent dreads.

That being said, let's face the reality. There is a consistent decline in voter turnout during elections in Nigeria. Voter apathy is real, and if it happens again in 2027, Tinubu will win the election. But it won't be because of rigging, it will be because millions of Nigerians stayed home and handed him the one advantage he needed.

The lesson from 2023 should not be that voting is pointless. It should be that voter apathy is dangerous for political change.

If Nigerians really want a different government in 2027, then the answer to voter apathy is mass mobilization.

I see opposition parties organizing at the state level. This is commendable, but it must spread to the LGs, villages, wards, and polling units.

Do targeted outreach. Identify people who have not voted in recent elections and find out why. Talk to them and convince them to come out and vote. These small efforts on a large scale could change the outcome of the election.

Every voter must become a mobilizer. Talk to your neighbour, friend or relative who doesn't vote. When the message hits home, interest rises.

You don't need to be a politician. You don't need thousands of followers on social media. Just step outside your house or workplace and talk to someone.

Sometimes, merely showing enthusiasm about voting can motivate someone else to participate. Even having a conversation can reveal something important about why people don't vote, which is valuable information that can help confront the issue.

Don't allow frustration with politicians, disappointment with the economy or distrust of the political system to make the decision for you. Election Day is one day. Show up and perform your civic duty.

Then encourage someone else to do the same.

Voter apathy is one of the greatest gifts you can give an incumbent in 2027. Don't give anyone that advantage.

Tinubu has not already won 2027. But if millions of Nigerians decide there is no point in voting, they may end up handing him victory on a platter, a la carte.

How can Fulani factor be working against Atiku when Tinubu himself won with 5.6m out of his total 8m votes coming from the Hausa-Fulanis? Tinubu repeated his muslim-muslim ticket because he desperately needs that Hausa-Fulani votes. Atiku got 6.9m votes despite contesting after 8 years of a Fulani Buhari. Tinubu no longer enjoys the kind of Northern support and sympathy that he enjoyed in the North in 2023. Tinubu has not significantly penetrated the South to make up for his lost Northern support. Infact, he is more popular in the North today than he is in the South, and that is saying a lot. Tinubu won with less than 2m votes margin. Now, factor all of these variables together and do the maths.

Every political calculation is not favouring him, that's why his urchins put up that thread. His desperation became bare in this Osun state elections.

By my calculations, the dynamics favours Atiku Abubarkar.

Any idiot that thinks he will rig carelessly now will be met with stiff resistance. Everybody is going to polling unit whether you have Ur PVC or not. Those without PVC will stay some distance far from the polling unit helping to safe guard our votes, those with PVC will go close to the polling unit and vote. Madness will be matched with madness this time

Thank you so much for this. I was already cooking up a reply to that post. It's APC people that wrote that post and their aim is to create massive voter apathy to further help their inept leader.

If Tunibad is the best and has worked wonders since his inauguration as president shouldn't the facts speak for themselves? In fact, I wound have campaigned for him. But he has been nothing but a massive disaster.

One of the things we contemplated during the last elections was that it would take some serious level of bad leadership for any president to be worse than Bihari. But guess what? Tunibad is far worse than anything Bihari produced or failed to produce.

We weren't this hungry under Bihari. We could still travel to many places in Nigeria. Money still had some respect and value. Alas! Tunibad pulled down everything. Even his promise to build on what Bihari achieved is nothing to write home about.

Tunibad is synonymous with terrible things. Terrible economy. Terrible hunger. Terrible everything.

On the other hand, Atiku and Obi will come distant 3rd in some states.

If the oppositions do not unite there would only one outcome and let's not pretend otherwise

The worst kind of defeat is one in which you decide not to fight back at all.

Countries were faced with air raids and tank ammunition and they still fought back and won regardless of many deaths.

That's because people are no longer buying fuel and going to university . I went to my university to take my certificate and the number od student have drastically reduced . what about fuel just imagine danfo wey i enter from oshodi to mile 2 buy 10 litres of fuel 14,000 thousand naira , how many km that one go take am ; how many homes still use there Generator now when fuel is so expensive . No be who done chop belleful go buy fuel .
