Whenever opposition supporters say, "They will rig 2027," ask: How, exactly? Follow the vote. First, BVAS records accredited voters, creating a mathematical ceiling on legitimate votes. Next, ballots are counted openly before voters, agents and observers. Results enter Form EC8A, which agents can sign, photograph and obtain. Then EC8A is uploaded through BVAS to IReV, creating another record against which subsequent collation can be checked. Fraud remains possible through vote-buying, violence, compromised officials or collation manipulation—but wholesale fabrication is increasingly harder. To manufacture a different result, you must potentially defeat BVAS accreditation, physical counting, EC8A, agents' copies, photographs/videos, IReV and independent monitoring platforms such as SmartElectionGuard Pro. That's like changing a football score after thousands of spectators photographed the scoreboard. So opposition parties should prepare, not merely predict rigging: deploy agents everywhere, photograph every EC8A, transmit results independently, monitor IReV and flag discrepancies immediately. The weakest strategy is shouting "They will rig us" for two years, then arriving without adequate polling-unit protection. The battle for 2027 begins at the polling unit. Increasingly, whoever wants to steal the result must also steal the evidence. |

Was all that not in place when inec glitch happened only in Presidential election. Till date they have not finished uploading the results Though it was 2023 but can't happen in 2027. In 2023 we whr taken by surprise because we trusted inec never again. This time we are going to polling units prepared. We vote and stay back to defend our votes. .we will have evidence at every point in time as we communicate it to trump and other foreign observers If you come to rig in any kind of cloth be rest assured u will be counted.. |

Rigging is mostly done at RACs. |

Sheuns:If the opposition are serious, they will collate the results based off iRev and BVAS. Have their results to checkmate INEC. INEC should do away with Ward and LGA collation. |

Streetinvestor2:So much has been said about the INEC glitch. Many Obidients believe that the server was intentionally compromised to enable rigging. There is no proof to support that claim. Availability of IT servers is not always guaranteed anywhere. Besides, if you have worked as an IT person in any of the government-owned agencies, you would know that their IT staff are usually low-skilled. Rarely can they figure things out without an external consultant. I am not saying the glitch was not intentionally engineered. At the same time, there is no proof that it was. That there was a glitch does not necessarily mean that massive rigging took place. I once lived a dangerous area in Lagos many years ago, and twice I forgot to lock my door with its key for a whole day. On those two occasions, nobody tried to open the door and nothing was stolen. So, the INEC glitch does not necessarily mean there was massive rigging. |

Rigging election could only happen through vote buying and intimidation in which all major political parties do. |

DoTheNeedful:Who do you guys like to lie to yourselves? What other proof do you need, when the server accepted NASS, but failed for presidential elections, even when processed through the same BVAS machine. That can only happen with HUMAN INTERVENTION. |

Validated:How do you know that the responsible applications for the national assembly and the presidential elections were on the same machine? You make so much assumptions. Information technology is not as reliable as many of you make it seem. The only good things about IT services are the speed and the trail they leave behind that could be used for a transparent auditing later. |

IJAYA001:Only a Tinubu acolyte trying to divert attention away from his boss and party would come up with this type of ‘everyone is guilty’ incredulous yarn ! Let’s for the sake of argument say they had the intention of storming polling units on election day with sack-loads of cash to induce voters, where will NDC find the money….and more importantly, find it in sufficient quantity to match the inexhaustible supply of stolen and misapplied federal, state and local gov’t funds APC has at their disposal? Also, as regards your accusation of all parties being guilty of voter intimidation/suppression…..you’re joking right!? Are you saying that LP were equally involved in voter intimidation/suppression before and during the 2023 presidential election….even in Lagos? Does it make sense that a party with no ‘structure’ or control of state instruments of coercion would engage in said electoral malfeasance while Tinubu and his lot, who have both structure and control over state instruments of coercion, would stand by and keenly watch proceedings as LP rigs them out of contention? Does this make any sense to you? |

Exactly what I wanted to state.. only Vote Buying is mainly what politicians can do.. To say rigging on the BVAS or whatever, not feasible IJAYA001: |

IGBOPROMISE1:Your argument creates a bigger problem for the opposition than APC. Yes, vote-buying exists and should be condemned. But if Nigerians are supposedly furious with APC and determined to remove Tinubu, why would ₦5,000 suddenly erase that conviction inside a secret ballot cubicle ? A voter can collect money, smile, enter the cubicle and still vote as he chooses. Money can influence some voters, especially under economic hardship, but it is not magic. So what does your argument say about NDC supporters? If they are truly committed to change, are you saying their conviction can be bought for ₦5,000 or ₦10,000? That would indict the movement you are defending. As for intimidation, allegations must be judged incident by incident, polling unit by polling unit. State power alone is not proof of responsibility. So yes, condemn vote-buying. But you cannot simultaneously claim the electorate is fiercely determined to remove APC AND easily purchasable. Both arguments cannot comfortably sit in the same chair. |
| Re: How Exactly Could Anyone Rig 2027? Follow One Vote From BVAS To Irev by CharlesCNG(op): 6:52am On Aug 11 |
commoditiesnig:Exactly. If vote-buying is the main vulnerability, then anyone who changes his vote for cash was never deeply committed in the first place. A convinced voter can collect the money, enter the secret cubicle and still vote his conscience. So saying, “Our supporters are determined to remove APC, but APC can buy them,” actually admits that some of that support is soft and transactional. Money may influence the undecided. It shouldn't magically rewrite genuine political conviction. |

Let's explain why that's an issue Ahead of Saturday’s Osun governorship election, INEC’s BVAS is now under fresh scrutiny after the commission revealed that the devices run on Android 10, an operating system that stopped receiving mainstream security updates since 2023. Now, that sounds alarming, especially for a device responsible for verifying voters and uploading election results. But INEC says the Android version alone does not tell the full story. According to Dr Lawrence Bayode, the commission’s Director of ICT, the BVAS runs a heavily customised and locked-down version of Android, with additional security controls. The accreditation and result-uploading applications are isolated from the wider Android environment, meaning the device is not simply operating like an ordinary Android phone. So, the bigger problem isn't just the age of the operating system, it is what happens when the system fails. During INEC’s August 1 mock accreditation exercise in Osun, some BVAS devices experienced problems and INEC said the issue was traced to older voter records from 2011 producing unusually high biometric similarity scores and causing legitimate voters to be flagged as potential duplicates. The commission fixed the issue within an hour and insists that this is exactly what a mock exercise is designed to uncover. But in the 2023 presidential election, devices also reportedly failed at several polling units, batteries ran out and connectivity problems affected the process. And this time, the stakes are even higher. Under the 2026 Electoral Act, if a BVAS fails at a polling unit and INEC cannot replace it with a functioning device, the election at that unit must be cancelled. If the affected result could change the outcome, a fresh election must be held within 24 hours. That sounds straightforward on paper, but can INEC actually move a working device into a remote polling unit, restore the process and conduct a fresh election within 24 hours? That is the question Osun and the upcoming 2027 elections are about to test.

Readbooks:2027: The Rigging Starts in the Mind Recently, I have heard many people say to me that the 2027 election has already been rigged and that there is no point in voting. Some even believe that Nigerians will simply be handed a fait accompli. While these concerns are valid, I do not believe that is the case. What I believe is happening is even more dangerous. There is an attempt to rig the minds of Nigerians and make us believe our votes will not count. This is geared towards discouraging participation and weakening the power of the people before the elections. But we must reject that narrative. The truth is that the more people turn out to vote, the more competitive the election becomes and the harder it is for anyone to subvert the will of the people. So, I make this one appeal: do not let anyone rig your mind. Do not surrender your power before the process begins. Prepare to show up. Prepare to vote and protect your vote. Because one of the strongest ways to resist election rigging is through massive citizen participation. When citizens vote in large numbers, they make manipulation more difficult. #NigeriaDecides2027 #WatchingTheVote
