The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared the incumbent Governor of Osun State, Ademola Adeleke, winner of the state’s governorship election.

Adeleke, who contested on the platform of the Accord Party after leaving the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), defeated his closest challenger, Bola Oyebamiji of the All Progressives Congress (APC), and 13 other candidates in the keenly contested election.

The returning officer announced Adeleke as the winner in the early hours of Sunday following voting across the state’s 30 local government areas.

Oyebamiji, a former Osun State Commissioner for Finance, finished second, while the African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate, Najeem Salaam, emerged third.

According to INEC, 15 political parties participated in the election, with 1,906,390 Permanent Voter Cards collected ahead of the poll.

Adeleke, who won his first term in 2022 under the PDP, campaigned on his administration’s record in infrastructure, economic development, pension payments, healthcare and digital transformation.

INEC said Adeleke secured victories in several local government areas, including Oriade, Osogbo, Orolu, Ife Central, Ilesha West, Ife North, Ede South, Ifedayo, Boluwaduro, Iwo and Ifelodun.

Oyebamiji, meanwhile, won in Ilesha East, Boripe, Irepodun, Obokun and Atakumosa West.

Ahead of the election, Adeleke had repeatedly raised concerns over alleged attempts to disrupt the electoral process. He also promised to establish an independent commission of inquiry to investigate reported killings and other acts of violence linked to the election.

Speaking about his administration’s record before the poll, Adeleke said his government had made progress in strengthening the state’s economy, improving infrastructure, settling outstanding obligations and advancing digital transformation.

The Givernor’s victory secures another mandate for him following his 2022 election victory, when he defeated the incumbent governor, Gboyega Oyetola, in a closely fought contest.

This victory isn't only for the people of Osun state but for the entire sane people of Nigeria .

At least a very clear message has been sent to Tinubu and his goons ,that 2027 won't be a funny year for them as usual as it'd be Nigerians vs the APC angry

I'm certainly the happiest man in the world right now.

That's what it should be congrats to him. In the face of the intimidation by the apc-led administration from all corners, he still won. The time to pay back good leaders with the people's votes, irrespective of intimidation has come.

Everybody should just learn something from this election. These politicians, especially the APC don't love the masses. They only feast on them to achieve their aims every 4 years. How can you give out rice with money and still rain curses on the receivers as if they're not human? They've turned politics into business. Everybody should now go back to work.

I am happy they didn't forget the sad days of half salary payment by APC.

The Sharia loving Oyebamiji aka Ambo should call Adeleke and congratulate him now.

Thank God it is free and fair. By the time Tinubu wins in 2027, if i hear it is not free and fair.... Congratulations 💡 💡 💡 💡 💡

One thing people fail to realise is that without the reformation policies of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, there is no way those state governors would perform to the admiration of the people. They now have more money to deliver the dividend of democracy. Since 1999, people have experienced terrible leadership across the country and almost everyone have lost hope that the country will get better. But since Tinubu came to power and transformed the economy and giving a lifeline into the country, governors across the 36 states of the country now have more money to do things that have NEVER been experienced in there state since 1999. So naturally the people will the surprised and believe the governors are the best compared to previous governors that have lead them.
In this Tinubu's administration, it will be difficult across the 36 state of the federation regardless of the party affiliation for a seating governor to be removed except a cursed governor that don't take advantage of the enormous resources they get from the federal government for the betterment of the people they govern.
This doesn't have anything to do with the party the governor belongs to, it has to do with the perception of the people about the work the governor is doing. If Adeleke had been allowed to join the APC, he would still have won because the people of Osun see him as a working governor.
So the credit have to go President Tinubu 100%. The governors know this and ALL of them will support Tinubu in 2027 and that's a fact .

Delulu.

So since Adeleke has won, the election has all of a sudden become "free and fair." And if Tinubu loses in 2027, the election would be "free and fair"too? But if Tinubu wins, it would be "rigged".

Since many of you are driven by hate and can't separate an opponent from an enemy, you have completely lost the ability to be logical.

I just hope 2027 election results won't send some of you to mental institutions.
