Which maker? The one you were told or the one you saw?

Catfish pepper soup is real. At consumption, you are filled, refreshed and energized.

Can your God make you feel same way? No!

I dont think they are even afraid of hell and they dont really know God especially in this part of the world

Evil doers everywhere
You are very correct, 97% of Nigerians in the mosques or churches don't believe in hell or heaven, but they only want their condition to be better. That's all!
That's why when most of them relocate abroad, they either stopped all religious activities or do so minutely.

For a born again Christian,God is our father and He love us and as good children we also love Him as our father but we will not take His love for granted,we must love what he love and hate what He hate.

Deuteronomy 4:23-24 KJV
Take heed unto yourselves, lest ye forget the covenant of the LORD your God, which he made with you, and make you a graven image, or the likeness of any thing, which the LORD thy God hath forbidden thee. [24] For the LORD thy God is a consuming fire, even a jealous God.

Hebrews 12:28-29 KJV
Wherefore we receiving a kingdom which cannot be moved, let us have grace, whereby we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear: [29] For our God is a consuming fire.

You don't know the taste of a fruit you never eat. You may have tasted the look-alike and think that all tastes are the same.

I am afraid of losing the Holy Spirit. Without Him is just a painful death sentence in this world and thereafter.

I can't imagine a life without the Holy Spirit after having such experience.

Berieved families often pay priests and pastors for masses and services thinking that they, the pastors/priests would pray their dead loved ones into heaven. That's another warped belief in today's Nigeria churches.Pastors acting god complex and ripping off their gullible fellowers in all manners and unthinkable ways.

that post isn't about religion but God and hell. God isn't religion or about religion.

Kemical23:
Anything that promises you riches after death is a fallacy...
If you haven't sold your sense to religion you would've think about this one day but you can't instead defend what you don't have any idea about....

Just like telling your kid you will make him rich after death, how do think that your child will look at you...
where in that post were you promised riches after death? where in the post was religion mentioned? you're only drinking water over others headache.

mind you it possible to make you child rich after death. if you leave such child with enough wealth while alive.

Kobojunkie:
The vast majority of religious folks on this planet cannot imagine or understand a deity that does not exist under the umbrella of religion and the idea of punishment for the wicked to be the end of the wicked within that religion. 😒
I doubt, I have the energy to debate with you tonight but I'll try. still is that post about religion? how come you hate on what doesn't exist? how is your unbelief been frustrated by what you don't believe in.

the Supreme Deity isn't existing under any form of religion but religion seeks it's existence and strength from it.

Very good question indeed.

Previously for me it was the fear of hell.

But I have seen that, that alone is wrong in itself. For to follow a person because of the fear of pain indeed shows you do not want that person which of course God rightly reads as you do not want him and rejects you.
Which is the same as following a person because of the pleasures you can get. Both are wrong.

So now, I choose to Love Him and follow Him for Himself sake.
Oga stop lying. You’re still lying joor😅
Most people serve God for selfish reasons

You don't even have an understanding of what you believe before crucifying what others believe.

The saying that "A compound fool says in his heart that God doesn't exist" is very very true!

SMH!

How do you get a book, read yourself into it, and then treat everything written in it as though it was directly addressed to you?

The Bible speaks within a specific historical and cultural context, to the people of Israel and their covenant with their God. It was not talking to Africans who would become Christians thousands of years later, or to people outside that tradition.

Yet modern Christians often read these ancient texts and immediately insert themselves, “God said this to us. God loves us. We must obey.”

That is what baffles me.

People also project emotions onto God that the text does not directly give them. “God loves you” becomes assumed and internalized, even though it comes through writing, translation, and interpretation rather than direct communication.

But if someone truly loves you, you would not need an ancient book to know it. You would expect presence and immediacy, not distant claims filtered through centuries.

And yet, even with history in view, suffering, conquest, cultural disruption, people still hold on to the belief that God loves them, reshaping the narrative so it stays intact.

At some point, I think we should stop asking only, “What does the Bible say?”

We should also ask, “Why do I think this book is speaking directly to me?”

And, “How did I come to believe this God was mine in the first place?”

I don’t believe in hellfire, but I believe God has done a lot for me. The way I was able to graduate, secure a federal government job, and receive a car as a gift remains an uncommon miracle to me. I believe these are things that could only have been made possible by the hand of God.

Whether a good citizen acts out of respect for the rule of law or out of fear of going to jail, both are accepted. In the same way, whether a sinner turns to God out of fear of hell or out of love for God, it doesn't matter, since both paths lead to the same destination, and are mutually inclusive. Much the same with a student who only got serious with their studies for fear of failure or possible shaming and ridicule from fellow students. If Whatever motivates a man on earth to seek success at all cost is adjuged good and acceptable, why will anyone in their right senses think otherwise, for anyone in pursuit of God or heaven.

Gbam. That's why I believe death bed repentance is just bobo.

So if you think you can be unholy all through your life, and then do Pascal's Wager, then you nor really understand nothing 😅
@bold:

The second thief repented at his death bed (on the cross) though.

I don't think death bed repentance is bobo; I think it is a gamble because nobody knows how they will die.

Not everyone will be lucky to die gradually.

1. Well, I don't want to dispute the "justice" in that though - if a person, had stolen, killed and maimed, at the point of paying for their crime, they get absolved of all their inhumane actions - God is love yes, but God is just too - there's no justice there, not to the people who the thief likely killed before they themselves could ask for repentance.

2. Yes, not everyone will be lucky to see death coming, but that's why the life lived before that moment will account for the eternity in heaven than that last minute gamble.
