Like North Korea and South Korea, can we have a North Nigeria and South Nigeria as independent countries? After all, we don't share same ideologies even on religious basis ( North see southern Muslims as infidels). I think this will benefit Nigeria more

bolaayenimo:1. Northern NIgeria is not 100% muslim and even among the muslims there are divisions by tribe and culture. 2. Southern Nigeria is not also entirely christian. 3. It won;t lead to developed countries, it would just lead to two indebted countries because all of you do not know the real meaning of development. South Korea is developed because they had no resources. Nigeria on the other hand is blinded by resources. |

nairalanda1:You must be from either southwest or north. Nigeria has no business being one country. Nigeria will never work as presently constituted. The north, west, and the east have no business being together. You know it deep down in you. |
| Re: Can We A North Nigeria And South Nigeria As Independent Countries? by nairalanda1(m): 11:35am On Aug 17 |
Elusive001:Well, I know that, to be honest, and I am not from those parts you mentioned son. Also, I dont care if the country divides, but the issue is, this contraption is the least bad of a whole lot of worse alternatives. It is still bad. And at the end, most of you want division because you want more oil money. Not because you want development. That annoys me more than my annoyance at living in a contraption. Change that attitude, focus on industrial development and maybe we can split peacefully like Czechoslovakia did. But neither North nor south Nigeria wants to do that, so we now have a large number of unemployed youth running around. I can see the disaster a mile away if we split. (or even if we stay together). Anything else is asking for a long resource war. You and I don't want that. |

bolaayenimo:When we discard this bronze age Abrahamic faith mentality and see religion as a personal belief system and not a state ideology then sense will begin to form in our brains. Europe fought centuries of wars over which brand of Christianity they should adopt . The centuries long wars between the Byzantine empire and Rome was over whose religious ideology was right. When Rome finally split from Byzantine, they launched crusades across northern Europe to force pagan Nordic tribes to adopt catholism. The Nords stood their ground and only converted to protestant Christianity. The French waged a 100y war with Britain citing that Britain had become apostate by the act of the king rejecting the Pope and setting up the Anglican church. In England, the puritans will later emerge and reject the king as God's annionted and have him beheaded . The Puritans claimed to be Christian but after committing regicide on their Kong, they tried to adopt Judaism as the official state religion and Hebrew as the new Lingua Franca. The bill failed by just one vote. The Puritans believed in the false claims of British Israelism and wanted Britain to be the new Israel as they believed they were the lost tribe of Israel. 3ys later the monarchy was reinstalled after the sudden death of the leader of the Puritans (Oliver Cromwell). The Puritans then fled to the American colony and formed their Pilgrim Society which have birth to modern day American Evangelical Zionist false church. What makes you think that a Christian defined nation can not become splintered into several warring factions down the road? The history of Europe is one of war and religious fanatiscm. If anything, the Muslims learnt from both Rome and Constantinople in drawing up their own theocratic state. |

@OP You can't use North Korea and South Korea as example.. Nigeria's case is different. You can liken ours to the former Soviet Union that collapsed in 1991 with about fifteen countries emerging, likes of Russia and Ukraine. Northern Nigeria has over 200 tribes with different languages and cultures while Southern Nigeria has over 150 tribes with different languages and cultures as well. It's still like going back to square one, reason restructuring and return to regional system is the best. |

FSBoperator:North Korea left abrahamic religion behind, and also tradtional korean religion. And they are underdeveloped. The USSR was supposed to be religion free...lol. They were borrowing from the West by 1970... Albania was supposedly the first religon free state...they be broke. Religion doesnt make things better though What makes a country great is when the leaders remember rule no 1 of economics. RESOURCES ARE LIMITED. It's figuring out what to do with the limited resources that separates the boys from the men so to speak. |
| Re: Can We A North Nigeria And South Nigeria As Independent Countries? by FSBoperator: 1:25pm On Aug 17 |
nairalanda1:There's a clear difference between rejecting and making personal religious persuasion banned and criminalised in place for a totalitarian materialistic atheistic religion that replaces spirituality with state worship and allowing individuals to follow their own persuasion without state interference. Any society that places control of religion on the state is just on the slippery slope towards full state worship. The State should not be defined by a religion nor should it dictate it to its citizens . Jewish materialism aka Communism replaced God with state worship . Communism is still in effect a religion as can be seen in how North Koreans are forced to venerate the founder Kim Il Sung . State worship aka communism is still a religion , that is , a means of control. |

| Re: Can We A North Nigeria And South Nigeria As Independent Countries? by WizardOfNG: 1:44pm On Aug 17 |
bolaayenimo:It will happen OP. Likely under regional autonomy. I don't think outright balkanisation of Nigeria, into separate nations with separate armies, can happen. North do not want that and will never want it for the foreseeable future as they need the riches and flesh of Nigeria to feed on. Yet, the rest of us deserve better because the North is a deficit to our nation. That's the truth many do not want to admit. The current President should be supported to continue because he is the only one, since 1999, moving to ensure we gravitate towards full regional autonomy. Personally, I prefer Nigeria remain a nation. Strong advantages of the most populous nation in Africa and big markets, cultural diversity etc that are assets if managed right. What we need to work on is introducing a system of governance (regionalism) that ensures every Nigerian go and live as they wish in their corner of Nigeria and even learn from others if things are not working out for them. 'One Nigeria' is a scam only benefiting politicians and the elites. |

josielewa:They are just lucky Yorubas are calm and a people God has blessed to be progressive. When have we ever caused problems for Nigeria? Have we being behind any Military coup? We ever conducted pogrom against them in the SW as happened in the North? We have anything similar to IPOB, Boko Haram, ISWAP, ISIS , Lakurawa etc in Yoruba land?. I don't get it. Should the Yorubas not be placed on a pedestal , out of the four major ethnic groups for being the one who have done right by Nigeria always with no no Nation-threatening infractions/misbehavious? I can't wait for regional autonomy so Nigerians can see those , of the major ethnic groups, who are the assets and deficits of our nation. |

ONCE YOU LOSE ELECTION, ''NIGERIA WILL NEVER WORK''. GO TO LAGOS. NOTHING LESS THAN 5 MILLION IGBOS THERE. MR NIGERIA NEVER WORK. IF IT'S NOT WORKING YOU WILL NOT LEAVE YOUR REGION IN YOUR MILLIONS AND GO AND LIVE THERE. ALL YOUR VILLAGE MANSIONS, ARE THEY NOT FROM MONEY YOU MADE ALL OVER NIGERIA? | Re: Can We A North Nigeria And South Nigeria As Independent Countries? by NaijaHelper1(m): 2:52pm On Aug 17 |
WizardOfNG:It's not an accusation actually. Just a statement of fact. When Awolowo visited the Eastern region during the Pogrom to discuss the possible ways forward if the Eastern region were to be pushed out of Nigeria due to the persecution in the North, Awolowo pledged to follow suit. In his own words (which is still argued) he said: "If the Eastern Region is allowed by acts of omission or commission to secede from or opt out of Nigeria, the Western Region will automatically follow suit." When we declared , he refused to follow suit and instead concluded that the west was not militarily capable of seceding. While it was a wise and insightful decision that I must admit saved his people, it was still a betrayal of an informal pact he had with the Igbos. Let's not also forget a Yoruba man brought the idea of the blockade that killed millions of Igbos. Not a Fulani or a Hausa man. If you're up for it, we can have a debate on it so far as you promise not to turn it into an insult match. |
| Re: Can We A North Nigeria And South Nigeria As Independent Countries? by NaijaHelper1(m): 2:56pm On Aug 17 |
josielewa:The war to your doorstep was an offense to play defense strategy. Nobody had the permanent intention to take your land or whatever you're insinuating. It was intended as a route to get to the capital. No way we could get to the capital without crossing the west. The West could have declared neutrality if their intentions were good for the Igbos offering safe passage. |

madridguy:A Yoruba, Igbo partnership is a good partnership whether you agree or not. The facts and economic metrics don't lie. I don't particularly want a Yoruba/Igbo people alliance nor hate it either. My stay in Lagos was uneventful. I like them as a people and they match our energy. So why can't it happen? You didn't present any reason for your declaration and you don't seem to have alot going on in that head of yours so why debate you? |

There can never be a United South Nigeria, civil war is going to be the order of the day, Liberia and Sierra Leone civil wars will be a child's play if it eventually materialize. The best thing is that each region go it's own way and if there is any smaller ethnic groups that wants to be part of the federations of the larger ethnic groups, then there must be proper negotiations and concessions and agreements that must be in written form. Otherwise,it is going to be a repeat of what is currently happening in Nigeria. |

FSBoperator:You really should forget about the Jews, plus if your theory was right, explain china, vietnam and even laos to some extent? Same communism. What differntiates countries is not only manufacturing and innovation, but the ability to profit and to make money from those two things. The communist countries that forgot to do that got stronger. The ones that changed course and started doing that rose and kept rising. Heck North Korea could be very prosperous if they allowed that to happen, but no, they all worship Kim and Kim and Kim. And they hate Israel by the way, Kim IL SUNG was backing the paliestinians. At the end, forget religion. Japan is a good example. They worship stones like one of my relatives likes saying, but they are prosperous because they invested in manufacturing and innovation AND they also learned to let people make profit from it. Allow a man or woman make money, and you go see development. No one can live on medals with names like 'People's hero of the revolution' P.S Yes a lot of Jews were involved with Communism, but far more non-jews were also involved, because the world they grew up in was one of deep inequity. It was just that they first forced people to try to abandon their beliefs, including religious jews, and then...they tried to wreck the profit motive. Which has never worked because man is not a good person. |

The public declaration was the outcome of private talks which was not contested. What are you on about? Well we'll remind you of this when the time comes. Better bookmark it. Good thing your usual bed partners are ravaging your lands and ravishing your lands and your women. Karma is a bitch ain't it? |
