‘Politics Not A Career, Get A Job’ — Davido Hits Back At Faleke by Islie(op): 10:49am On Aug 17
By Pelumi Bolawa

Davido has fired back at house of representatives member James Faleke following tensions surrounding Saturday’s Osun governorship election, which saw his uncle Ademola Adeleke secure re-election.

Adeleke, candidate of the Accord Party, was declared winner on Sunday morning after an overnight collation of results in Osogbo.

He polled 511,067 votes to defeat his closest rival Bola Oyebamiji of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who finished with 444,815 votes. Najeem Salaam of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) placed a distant third with 17,180 votes.

The war of words began after Davido accused Faleke of pressuring the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to alter the election outcome.

In a post on X, the singer alleged that the lawmaker, alongside two other APC legislators, was attempting to “upturn the election result”.

Davido further declared that the people of Osun had rejected Oyebamiji and former Governor Gboyega Oyetola, adding that he would never support the APC.

Faleke, who traveled to Osun to support his party’s candidate, denied the allegations, insisting he had no power to influence the poll outcome. He noted that his presence in the state was no different from Davido’s support for his uncle’s party.

In an X post, Davido dismissed Faleke’s response and took a swipe at his political career.

“Politics is not a career. Get a Job!” he wrote.

The singer, who has been actively involved in his uncle’s re-election campaign, also congratulated Adeleke on securing a second term as Osun governor.

I wonder what Tinubu’s true state of origin actually is—Osun or Lagos. It’s crazy that there are this many question marks surrounding the background of a single person.

May God help the black race

Davido is a confirmed man. I like him more. He is fearless and knows his right. The old man who want to eat apple but want the tooth of children to ache has been silenced.

And that's exactly the same reason why Nigeria is where we are today.

If we stop making political posts a window of stealing and less lucrative like the developed countries, we will move forward.

Lol, don't be naive

Davido has no issues with APC only when it's about his uncle or family . He deleted tweets calling out the president/apc

Politics shouldn't be a career (i agree) but na career for him uncle and no problem

Davido doesn't fight for you or care about you. Na him selfish interest he de pursue

And yes, APC are useless elements

Yes and that's a totally different conversation. The reality is that politics is a career in Nigeria. We have loads of people openly described as career politicians grin.

Davido’s statement right here is going to spark serious conversations, but honestly, he dropped a very bitter truth. In more advanced democracies, politics is treated as a temporary public service, not a lifetime career or permanent employment. When politicians treat governance as their only source of livelihood, it changes the entire motive for seeking power. Seeing a major artist call out top legislators like this shows how deeply invested the younger generation is in the political landscape now. It’s an interesting era for Nigerian politics.

It's always been a daily conversation in most places in Nigeria. We all know about it but the people that can address it are the ones that would be impacted lipsrsealed

If truly "Politics" is a job or a career, like you said, it therefore means that they are like casual workers in a factory, because after four or eight years you are laid off. But if you are lucky as a Legislator, you might stay more if your state doesn't zone the seat. Do you call that a job or a career?
