I don't know how to explain this but stop using power Banks to charge your phones! Using power to charge your phone instantly and gradually reduces and destroys your phone's battery life. Power Bank wasn't made to charge your phone from 0% to 100%. It was made to use for emergency and boost your phone from zero percent to 2 or 3% until you can use your phone to make calls and get the help you need, more like sos 🆘 I don't know if I am the only one who doesn't have nor make use of power Banks on any of my devices, as I have given all my power Banks away. Power Banks are made with batteries which in turn powers your phone till 3%. Constantly use of power Banks on your phone is a direct sure way of destroying your phone. It might be spoiling battery as you said but we no get option apart from solar and it’s not portable to carry around .. As you have given your power banks out , you must be a rich man, next time you want to dash person power bank abeg reach out to us that needs it , especially if na strong one like 30,00mAh. |

deetin:Na 80,000mAh power Bank. I currently used my itel solar inverter and 2 panels in my house or I used nepa light in my house to charge my phones. For years now, nothing concern me concern power Bank for my phones. I am shocked whenever I see people carrying power Banks around. It doesn't only destroys the phone's battery life, it gradually destroys the phone's panel too |

Goo0dHardDick:Wow, I guess you have good phones with good battery backups. the reality is not everyone is privileged like you that’s why they are carrying power banks around |

deetin:My post is on my profile. Already created threads on that concerning phones. It's iPhone 16 plus and Samsung S24 ultra. I can't use power Banks. even when I was using iPhone 12 pro Max and s22 I didn't use power Banks. I'm not a fan of power Banks at all. I don't like it and never will. What's the point of using battery to charge another battery? |

| Re: Stop Using Power Bank To Charge Your Phones! by deetin(m): 4:27pm On Aug 18 |
Goo0dHardDick:I like your choice and knowledge about phones and batteries but I’ll say you are always at the proximity of a place with regular electricity. Majority of Nigerians rely on power banks because if they bring light now and you charge your phone , might not see light again for like another 4 days so it’s better you charge your power bank also and when your battery runs down in two days or so depending on how strong it is , you boost it with the already charged power bank as a back up battery . I’m not disputing the fact that it might not be safe and healthy for the phones battery but that’s just the reality of things I’m seeing out here . 4 out of 5 person have power banks where I live and they rely on it heavily |

deetin:You are right. My area here, we usually have light more than 22hrs a day and because of this, I see no reason for power Banks. As in, the light has been interrupted for 3 days now, except whenever it rains they'll take it and then bring it immediately after the rain stops. I no know whether na band A we dey for here. But there's always light here |

Goo0dHardDick:So what will you suggest someone that barely has 24 hours light a week do? |

deetin:I personally think solar will do. Power Banks Will most likely destroys one's battery. I don't know though, perhaps most phones like itel, infinix and Tecno are built to withstand power Banks, just saying! |
| Re: Stop Using Power Bank To Charge Your Phones! by Goo0dHardDick(op): 4:36pm On Aug 18 |
brain54:Yes bro. I personally think solar inverters are by far better than power Banks. The voltage and Watts ain't the same and cannot be compared. Power Banks are just batteries. Solar inverters are batteries too but larger ones. You can browse about the itel solar inverters including solar panels. You can't use those to compare power Banks na. |

Story. I used my redmi note 11 for three years and dashed it to my brother. No battery issues whatsoever. Full charge lasts almost as it were when I bought it. Currently using 13pro max and this is three years and 3 months now and battery is still intact. Power bank on a steady. Some days self I might travel for work and use power bank straight for three to four days Goo0dHardDick: |

No be you go tell me how I go take use my thing. Beside,I upgrade my phone highest 1years 6 months.. So the battery is never a problem. But you see power bank.. I use it ,if I want to.. Even minister of power dey use power bank for my country.. |
| Re: Stop Using Power Bank To Charge Your Phones! by albacete(m): 7:01pm On Aug 18 |
Unless you plan to use your phone for 6 years and above, there shouldn’t be any reason to avoid using power banks. |
| Re: Stop Using Power Bank To Charge Your Phones! by erad(m): 7:12pm On Aug 18 |
Simple question... If you use solar inverter to charge, are you not using battery to charge battery? I'm really trying to see the logic behind this your rant without any scientific proof. |
| Re: Stop Using Power Bank To Charge Your Phones! by MONEY247: 7:36pm On Aug 18 |
You said it wrongly... We are in Nigeria bro.... The best way to use power bank is to plug your phone and leave it to charge complete... Not to charge and use.... Not saying don't use power bank to charge phone.... except you are using infinix and tecno |
| Re: Stop Using Power Bank To Charge Your Phones! by Wizyoung(m): 9:59pm On Aug 18 |
Goo0dHardDick:This is a good advice but the statement thereof is one that is technically false. The notion that power banks damage phone batteries or accelerate battery deterioration is a result of poor understanding of what really happens under the hood while a phone is being charged. No offense intended In the real sense, what makes a power bank apparently "bad" is its tendency to encourage people to have their phones plugged in most of the time during use. Poor charge-discharge cycle is an inherent danger to batteries generally. So when you have what appears to be "always on standby power" - a power source that can be utilised on the go, you end up maintaining poor cycles. This in itself isn't a damage caused by the power bank but one caused by HABIT. This habit can happen irrespective of whether the source is a power bank or an AC outlet charger (for those with access to 24/7 electricity). Some people may call it overcharging even though that's not also a thing by today's standard. You should read more on how a travel AC charger charges your mobiles and how a power bank accomplishes the same task. That might help you further unfderstsnd that using quality power banks isn't any different from using your OEM "follow come" chargers ![]() |

Zonefree:If this forum can be a physical one, some people like the OP would have been beaten bloody. It made it sound like powerbank is a life style choice. Powerbank is the emergency buster and many use that emergency every single day. |
| Re: Stop Using Power Bank To Charge Your Phones! by faceland: 11:12pm On Aug 18 |
My advice is switch off the phone when you connect it to a powerbank... But most people keep it on. |

| Re: Stop Using Power Bank To Charge Your Phones! by Goo0dHardDick(op): 7:15am On Aug 19 |
LeeSmart:You're right but the both batteries capacity isn't the same. Power Banks batteries cannot be compared with that of solar nau |

You have your choice and can force others to do same way with you, Nigeria are stil facing power cut and challenges,so how do you want them cope to stay afloat online, you should stop using solar as well |
| Re: Stop Using Power Bank To Charge Your Phones! by LeeSmart: 8:04am On Aug 19 |
Goo0dHardDick:But na still battery now, my elder sis for example will never charge her phone using solar. Her reason is same as urs (it spoils phone battery quickly). Whenever she's coming for Christmas holiday in Nigeria, she dey always complain about using Solar in the family house. |

LeeSmart:Lol. So she prefers power Bank instead? |
