read again. I said progress started after abacha death and ended 2015. firstly, i was born September 1st 1981. as at 1985, o was in kg 3, hearing about war against indiscipline, and i wrote waec in 1998. infact, it was less than 2 weeks after exam that abacha died.my father, like almost all workers like him, used Volkswagen beetle, heads of parastatals used 504, 505,. richest in society, who had laboured for long used Mercedes Benz 200 flat boot and just one car, not 2 or more. we were tenants all through till abacha death. eating bread just once was a luxury planned far ahead, not to talk of other beverages like milk, bournvita, sardines, geisha, oats. u might be arrested eating any of the other listed.mind u, my dad was a graduate, a lecturer, employed as normal level 8 in 1983, went for masters in 1988 till 1990. his salary as at 1990 was 1,950 monthly. 505 car was 25 k plus then.as at 1998, when abacha died, his salary was exactly 10k, while Mercedes flat boot was 250k. 505 was 160k abubakir increased minimum wage. my dad salary became 18k, while those car prices remained.obasanjo increased everything, brought in so many companies, such that people rejected federal and state work.my dad begged my uncle tp take state employment. he refused. then, it was 37 k for fresh graduate. my dads salary and allowances monthly became 50k. this was 1999. benz 200 was 300k, meaning his salary untouched for 6 months could buy it.505 was 250k. so he bought Benz in 1999 August.startes buying land. then, land was 70k, so he bought 2 plots, from less than 3 months salary.as at then, we were buying new clothes, bread and tea was sand sand. we no come dey buy tiny loafs again, so business come dey stock long ones and demand still pass supply. minimum wage was almost 8k sack of rice was #2500. we no dey but 2 liters fuel for car. na 30 and above.so purchasing power was very high. business and artisans were very happy cos workers demand for them and their service was very very high.

Have you ever heard of SAP?

Small boy of yesterday talking rubbish.
Lol! SAP structural adjustment programme.
He also truncated the best and free electrons ever held in Nigeria.
It will never be well with him

In the late '80s, we lived in a three-bedroom flat while my dad worked as a federal employee. I was too young to fully grasp it at the time, but we relied on gas for cooking. Then, gas became scarce; my mom bought a stove, but then there was no kerosene, leading us to use charcoal and sawdust instead. Those times were incredibly tough, and some families even perished. Omo, we pray that Nigeria never experiences such hardship again.

Our leaders are selfish; they seem more focused on creating opportunities for personal gain. Moreover, we are still indirectly ruled by superpowers.

Ibb I would describe like a two edged sword.

He made some bad decisions that affected Nigeria till date. But he also made very good decisions and built facilities some of which Nigeria still enjoys till date.

No leader is perfect. Overall, I think ibb was a good leader. One of the best Nigeria has had so far in terms of vision, foresight, capacity to deliver and achievements in power.

Sowore is also right but he is also wrong.

Babangida had charisma, he was likeable but he wasn't a good leader at all. I remember many Nigerian newspapers of that time looking brown almost like cardboard because newsprint like many other things were banned.
The SAP really sapped Nigeria and Nigerians.

What were the things he did? It a wasted 9 years at the end of which he couldn't return Nigeria to democracy but rather annulled a free and fair election.

Wasted ke!!!! Obviously u weren't alive during his regime because, if u were, u would know life was 1000x better then.
I will highlight a few things.

1.)During the IBB and even Abacha regime we didn't have insecurity issues ravaging the country.
2.) we didn't have this level of poverty in the country, life was way better. N1,000 could probably get u a brand new car
3.)Naira - Dollar exchange rate: The Naira was at some point stronger than the dollar (N0.90 - N17.30)
4.) Fuel Prices was also very, very cheap (N0.80k- N5 per litre)

These are just a few to mention, if u research
u will know better.

You are the one who was not alive during IBB regime. Life was better under IBB's SAP? His government marked the beginning of hardship for Nigerians. Don’t let us start with his deceitful transition to democracy program.

Yep! Young enough to remember the killing of Dele Giwa and all the drug dealers and 419ners who thrived under his government.
Young enough to remember the brownish newspapers and magazines which were printed on useless papers because newsprint amongst many items were banned from importation.
Kid indeed.
Naira was stronger than dollars and please make it make sense to me that Naira was stronger than dollars at that point even though we exported nothing but crude oil which at that point was already declining in price.
On what basis was your Naira stronger? This is the type of gbajue economics that our leaders have been running until Tinubu came along. One chance in a century.
