If as a Christian married man or married woman you fall into adultery, should you confess to your spouse after you have asked God for forgiveness?

When you commit adultery or have sex with someone else outside your spouse, the first thing to do is to go to God for repentance, the next thing to do is to find a way your spouse should know about it.

You can go for counselling and meet trusted elders for reconciliation. Do not keep adultery as a secret from your spouse. God wants you to let it known to your spouse. It is restitution
NOT EVERY SPOUSE CAN HANDLE SUCH TRUTHS.!!

so if the Holy Spirit says something not agreeing with what man wrote what the Holy Spirit said should be tossed away?

Abeg do you know HOW MANY TIMES the SPIRIT OF GOD SPOKE AGAINST WHAT WAS WRITTEN AND SAID BY MEN

* HATE YOUR ENEMIES
* THE SONS OR PARENTS WILL SUFFER FOR WHAT THEIR PARENTS OR CHILDREN HAVE DONE
* DIVORCE HER FOR WHATEVER REASON
* GIVE TO GOD BUT DONT GIVE TO YOUR PARENTS, OR CLAIM WHAT YOU HAVE IS ALREADY GIVEN TO GOD

I can continue... Wash your hands, pray out loud etc
You missed the most important spot...share the references. I dare say you must have quoted those phrases out of context.

Understand that when you quote something out of context you can easily get away with anything. Its like the verse where Jesus's advice to "agree with thine adversary quickly" (Matthew 5:25) is an urgent call for personal humility and honest restitution to resolve disputes before they escalate. It is frequently pulled out of context in four major ways:

The Traffic & Bribery Loophole: Misused to justify paying off traffic cops or corrupt officials to escape a ticket or legal penalty.

The Enabling of Abuse: Weaponized by toxic partners or leaders to silence victims by demanding immediate submission.

The Forfeiture of Legal Rights: Wrongly used to argue that Christians must completely surrender and never defend themselves against fraud.

The Theological Compromise: Misinterpreted as a command to tolerate or find a middle ground with evil or sin. True reconciliation requires swallowing your pride and making things right through honesty, not using biblical loopholes to cheat the system.

First be honest, what you initially mean is "Whatever the Holy Spirit says that is not agreeable with YOU should be tossed away..."

You asked me for a bible quote, should you not have read from James that if any lacks wisdom they should ask from God.

But you see your wisdom in your misinterpretation above is a clear example of wisdom from below. I know people misuse God's word but that isnt through the holy spirit or God's wisdom

If you indeed follow what is written has you wanted to claim, should you not have noted that Jesus did not call his people to wage some war against the wicked.

If you like when someone accusers and becomes your enemy, let them take you to court. You think it's a joke when it says the world lies in the hands of the wicked. I mean Jesus should have given you false hope like your MOGs that you will come out abi.

In that same matt 5 that worldly wisdom would see as foolish, Jesus teaches let the wicked go, dont pay them back for what they have done, in fact let them go with whatever they done to you or taken from you

I tell you, do not resist an evil person. If anyone slaps you on the right cheek, turn to them the other cheek also and if anyone would sue you and take your tunic, let him have your cloak as well.

You think Jesus is teaching you here some form of justice, some form of dont let the wicked go unpunished. I mean if you really believe there is God why would you even think that God will let the wicked go unpunished. Why would a Father let those who harm His children go. But because you do not believe nor trust in YHVH, you do not believe His son nor listen to the words of God.

Yes Jesus taught defend yourself for the purpose of running away and escaping, He also taught we shouldn't be afraid to give our lives for him, for righteousness, for truth.

It's easy to hate those who hurt, insult and persecute you, every sinner does so, but to be children of God, we are to love and let go.

Look if you have been tested and passed through this with the help of the holy spirit you would understand. Whay exactly do you think a child of God will lose on earth that they will not get in multiple folds back in the kingdom to come. We live this way because we believe.

The bribe spoken against in proverbs in that which is given to avert justice. Not that which is demanded by corrupt officers of the law who will still exort you for not doing anything wrong.

Submission is first to God, and children of God are not to be unequally yoked, why would a child of God walk together with someone who doesn't agree with love, kindness, longsuffering, peace, and the fruit of the holy spirit that pleases God? Daughters of God submit to sons of God, if you find yourself trapped and unequally yoked with a child of the devil, leave.

You may satisfy yourself but to what end. What profit is there if we gain the world but lose our souls? None.
