Throwback: How Sanusi & Ngozi Okonjo Iweala Warned Against Bringing Back Subsidy by Olofofo247ng(op): 10:23am On Aug 21
The ADC Presidential candidate in the incoming election recently said that he would bring back fuel subsidy he Nigerians elect him as the president. This video is expected to remind us about how Nigerians were warned by the economic experts during GEJ administration, not to bring back subsidy.

After watching this video again, what are your views about the idea behind subsidy removal? Do you support the removal or do you want the subsidy to be restored as proposed by Atiku? Share your views here.

Here is my view about this fuel subsidy palava:

The key thing here is that APC misled the masses and they are yet to apologise for it.

I have two reservations against APC as a party but that doesn’t mean the oppositions are not foolish and half-brained.

If we had followed the economic reforms programmes and policies of 2011/12 under President Goodluck Jonathan , we would have been a billion dollar worth economy today.

APC lied and played politics with our future, today ADC and NDC wants to rinse replicate it.

I’m still awaiting APC’s apology until then it can’t be well with them individually as a party.

Wetin I even know sef? I am just an ordinary Nigerian Policewoman.

Atiku wasted 1.2m USD over Tinubu court case. What more surprises does he have in stock?

You people want to keep pretending Tinubu has not been paying subsidy? He has even paid more than Buharis 8 years already

Ordinary Nigerian policewoman!! Your concerns are very on point and makes a lot of sense and I as an APC apologist greatly acknowledge......However,leadership is about convictions and staying true to your beliefs......Gej allowed himself to be ridiculed by not believing in his own convictions,he was trying too hard to be politically correct, playing politics against our national interests.......gej played politics, apc equally played politics and the better strategy won.

Tinubu rather should be the one that should be trusted because he has seen both sides of the divide and has chosen the course he is convinced is the best option for the country, same atiku was among those that opposed gej then but now wants to repeat the same mistakes Gej made which by all ramifications is DOA.

Whr are the mass cng buses they promised for the past 3 yrs.Do you know how many 100 billion spent alone in osun election can buy

He didn't pay it to anyone. He used that English to cover as he and his apc partners loot 11 trillion. It is like security vote that you can't be asked to say how it was spent

Apologise for what? How does his apology help you in any way? Let's just face the fact and allow the country to move forward.

The greatest enemy is those that knows the right things and played politics with the life of the people they wanna grow.. My very single hatred against tinubu, saraki, Buhari, atiku and the likes of them is the politics of 2012. They are enlightened, they are exposed, they had access to the best informations, they knew the right thing and the best thing at the time was removing the subsidy. They played politics with the life of the people and for that alone I can never forgive them cos they knowingly throw a lot of people into poverty and death and all for what.. A true nationalist, a true leader will never played politics with his people.. They can play politics with any other thing but not the life of the people..

What stopped gej from doing what he felt was right ?why didn't tinubu botch listening to the likes of obidients, but he stood true to conviction despite having a second term to contest......thast a true element of leadership......gej never had that and its nobody's fault but his.

Thank you, this is exactly my point too. GEJ was clueless and he was distracted by what the people were saying. What makes a good leader is his ability to know what is the best thing to do and the bravery to take the bold step to do it in the midst of all distractions. At the end, your best critics would turn out to be your loyalists.

GEJ is more of a technocrat...not a politician.

I have seen comments above blaming Jonathan, it's human nature to trade blames, however, did the nation shake like the 2012 occupy Nigeria protest where these same politicians where spending billions to feed protesters against the government in the midst a boko haram insurgency? They were intelligence reports suicide bombers would be blowing up protest venues and then GEJ government had to concede to save lives.

Even religious bodies came out to protest with placards. The pressure was palpable. The Tinubu government has not faced ½ of what Jonathan government went through.

Let's not compare apples and oranges, Jonathan had all odds stacked against his government.

Because tinubu mad his likes mobilized the whole country against him..nobody mobilized against tinububbecasue they knew he was doing the right thing and decided not to play politics with the future of the country like he tinubu and others like him did in 2012.. A true leader should always stand with the people no matter what and look for other things to play politics with.. And citizens our loyalty should be to the country not to an individual

Tinubu silenced them with massive projects everywhere. The students who could have protested were offered NELFUND, the youths are offered different empowerment opportunities and new investors coming are creating jobs.

No doubt, Tinubu came prepared for them. GEJ wasn't smart enough to put these basic things in place and Nigerians didn't trust him enough to do all what he promised.

If only many political fanatics can reason like this, Nigeria will be a lot better now and the future of our children will be promising. These politicians are just selfish, most of them are only after what they will eat and what their family will eat. They do not bother about what happens to you and they don't care about you. So, you don't need to take is as a do or die responsibility to support them if they are wrong or right. Open your eyes and don't just follow any politician blindly.
