There is no freedom of divorce in christian marriage, but if any of them choose to separate from his or her partner, there can't be remarriage.

I have been reading and hearing of situations where one partner walks out of the marriage and decides or refuses to come back a situation like marriage abandonment (if it can be phrased like that ) what should the other partner do.

Has to stay single, that's the rule. The only exception is if that partner is not alive. That's why the Bible speaks about forgiveness and also obedience.

In Islam, divorced couple can remarry except the divorce is up to three times. That is when the lady has to marry another person before coming to the first one.
